Sims 4 pregnancy

There is one thing I find a little unrealistic about sims 4 pregnancy. Right after my pregnant female sim takes the pregnancy test and finds out she's pregnant, her belly gets a little bigger. In real life, no one starts showing right away. When I was pregnant with my twin girls in real life, I didn't start showing until I was 16 weeks along. I think it would be more realistic if sims bellies didn't get bigger until the 2nd trimester. That's how it was in TS2 and TS3. I also think pregnant sims should be able to work until the end of the 2nd trimester/beginning of 3rd trimester. Once they ender the 3rd trimester, they should get maternity leave. I do like most other aspects of pregnancy in TS4. I do like now being able to breastfeed and taking the pregnancy test to find out your sim's eggo is preggo.

If you don't take the test, they don't get bigger until later. If you don't want her to show, just don't take the test. Trust me, you'll know she's pregnant soon enough, whether she POAS or not.

I honestly like the way the game is taking pregnancy. i love seeing my female sim just have a little pudge in her belly right after she takes the test. it is not really noticeable unless you really stare at her belly. but i really love how the female breast get bigger, i carried my two kids mostly in my breast and butt lol

I definitely agree that the pregnancies are unrealistic. I also wish they were longer!

I was surprised there was no maternity leave. I'd like to see this return as an option, but I don't want it forced.

Another place TS2 style would work best. After NL, you were able to send your Sims to work while they were pregnant...AND Maternity leave was an option.

    Let's be real.

You had to have a car, and when it was time to go to work, you could click on the car and say Go to work and off they'd go. Bonus: they got paid double, maternity leave AND their regular salaries. Great for those Early Legacy days, lol.

I agree with you. It is a little unrealistic. I don't like pregnant sims much, well in sims 4 I don't. They get annoying. Always wanna pee and sleep and eat. It's like having a pet.

Or being pregnant... edit - I find that part to be pretty realistic. My first pregnancy was pretty easy. I didn't have morning sickness and I even delivered on my due date. But...my 2nd pregnancy....all I wanted to do was eat, sleep, pee and puke for 41 weeks.

Awh, but I guess it was all worth it. :)

Other than the "bump after test" I feel like ts4 pregnancy is the most realistic out of the ts2-4. No two pregnancies are the same, the bumps grow at different rates to different sizes. I absolutely love pregnancy on ts4.

Why is there no TEST to find out the gender of the baby? If there is a pregnancy test why not be able to find out the gender before you decorate the room?? I am REALLY going to miss the toddler stage!!

I agree with you. I think there should be an option to go to the hospital and get an ultrasound to find out the gender. To make it more realistic, I think this should happen during the 2nd trimester of pregnancy. I always set up my nursery before the baby is born. I hate making a pink nursery, then finding out my sim had a baby boy.

Maternity leave (called Family Leave in game because partners can take it too) is currently bugged.

It's supposed to be enabled for all careers except acting (because that is gig based and you can just not take or cancel gigs when pregnant) but they mixed up and it's currently only enabled for acting.

There's a mod fix for it here:
