I don't think that making an expansion pack based on a book series is a good idea, and I'll tell you why:

The Sims has always been a game that is based (loosely) on real life and real families. Sure, it's fun to have some fantasy elements in it, like aliens, and supernaturals. But, the appeal of the Sims is that a lot of different players can enjoy it; there's enough reference to popular books in some of the library book titles that give a wink and a nod to what fans enjoy reading. But there's also enough "reality" that players who just want to play a reality type game can do it.

And another thing...if EA gives in and does a Harry Potter expansion pack for all the Harry Potter fans out there, they'd also have to do an expansion pack for fans of Twilight and The Hunger Games, because those are two book series that are hugely popular, and in fact, were asked for repeatedly for The Sims 3.

And heck, for that matter....why not Game of Thrones? It's not a children's book but it's got dragons, knights, kings, queens, sorcerers and lots of political intrigue. But, at what point does this stop becoming all about the Sims themselves, and all about the books?

I'm sorry but I wouldn't buy anything based on a book. If I'd been that interested, I would have bought all of EA's Harry Potter series a long time ago.

I agree with you. An expansion based directly on a book is highly unoriginal and just insulting to the source series, especially if it is butchered. However, I'm completely okay with an expansion that is based indirectly off a book, i.e. the style of the expansion or some of the content.
I think an ideal "Harry Potter" expansion would be that the world remains the same, but there is a hidden world just beyond our view, just out of sight, but within reach to the right people.
I actually explored this idea when I did my 8 Most Wanted Expansions list for the Sims 4. I can give exact wording here:

    2. Unknown Magics: This ought to be interesting! There hasn't been a true magic-based expansion since Makin' Magic, and I think it's about time we've seen another! Unknown Magics follows not just the mundane magics of fantasy, but also another, more mysterious energy field. Nothing will be the same in the world of the Sims 4! Features:
    - New CAS options, purchasable in-game or to select Life States, revolving around the magics hiding in plain sight.
    - New Traits: Magically Attuned (Able to use spells without becoming a Witch first; unlock-able by any Sim), Magic Skeptic (can become a magic hunter, hunting those who use magic of any sort), holy (blessed by the light of the world)
    - New Life States: White and Black Witch (a stackable Life State, meaning it can be stacked with other life states), Magic Construct (can only be harmed by magic, but otherwise immortal Sims), Magic Anomaly (a shapeshifting energy-based Sim, unkillable in all forms).
    - New Careers: Magic Hunters (exposing Magic users and silencing them in any way possible, death or not), Magic Guardian (opposite of Magic Hunters, protecting the mundane while also keeping the mundane world from prying eyes).
    - Hundreds of new objects and items to buy and collect!
    - New Neighborhood: The Blessed Valley, a town surrounded in hidden secrets, and hidden dangers. Is your Sim prepared?

I tried to display a theme of Modern vs. Mundane, similar to many modern day fantasies based in our world. An overall interesting concept, and a link to another expansion in line!

The expansion mentioned in the last sentence was linked to another expansion. If you want to see the full list, look here.

only if there's a slight change for a hybrid kid NOT to get powers from any ancestors-be like a "Squib" but still able to pass it on to other descants.

I dislike this idea because it's just to specific to one thing; supernatural succeeded because it was made of many genres of things this is only for a specific audience within sims 4 players. Also think about the copy right issue that come up and i don't see any reason why they would team up with sims 4. I don't want to see this happen.

Because movies always reflect the books precisely... right? >__>

EA already owns Harry Potter, there would be no "fee" and they would make so much more money.

EA does not 'own' Harry Potter; they are licensed to produce a series of Harry potter games - a percentage of the profits goes to EA and the rest go to J.R. Rowling and Scholastic Books, who actually own Harry Potter. Yes, even J. R. Rowling doesn't own Harry Potter outright - when she signed her contract with the publisher, she signed over a portion of the ownership of the characters, setting and plot to them. She can't even write another Harry Potter book without their permission (well, she could write it, but not distribute it in any form).

So, yes, EA would have to pay a massive licensing fee in order to make a 'Harry Potter' EP for The Sims.

JK Rowling is the one who still has the rights to the books. I mean she's the one who made sure who got to play Hagrid in the movie. Almong other things. Also if she didn't own 'all rights' to the books how to do you explain the other year she was richer then even the Queen?
