Thank you @rosemow I did my best to keep the price low and have some things in the shop to sell. The cutting/cleaning fish block I did because I sat that University stone alter and it gave me the idea, I do love the sims it makes you think....out of the box Thank you for saying the photos my sim took are lovely in the build, the walls were so bare it hurt my eyes Lol im glad you like them, Thanks again.
@luckyheather I am in awe of your landscaping skills. All your lots look amazing. The yard for "Witch Rags to Riches" is absolutely stunning! I keep going back to those screenshots and staring at them. I think I'm going to have to download that one, and I don't even use stuff off the gallery very much.
Landscaping is definitely my weakness in building. I feel like I could learn a lot by studying how you do it.
I have a question, since this is a "starter home" thread. How do you manage to keep your lots under 20,000 simoleons with so much detail? When I try making a starter lot, to keep it under that amount it usually ends up super-bland and sparse, or really really tiny. I was genuinely surprised at how low the cost was on some of your beautiful lots.
Hi @GlacierSnow lovely to hear from you and to hear you like my landscaping I am happy about that as im still learning and I admire others gardens I was always weak at gardens so I just keep trying and I have a habit of not doing flower beds I like random groups of plants I prefer a more natural look and sims can walk around them as im sure they dont know what a path is lol. I love country gardens well I am British so definite flower beds dont always come into my mind. So I suggest keep practicing and look at others builds and do what I do I Google images for inspiration as I have played/built since 1 and I get bored doing similar builds so im all over the place with themes. Community lots are the best to express your creative ideas as anything goes
Im still not the best at roofing and terrain paint and manipulation as its new for 4 so I keep trying to get better.
As to starters I always use a Sim as my builder/tester as each time you come out of build/buy to Live mode the prices of new things drop! Plus my sim carry's a lot of reduced stuff in her inventory's and when I do a starter I pop the cooker, fridge etc back in her box. How I get lots in and on the garden is mainly debug do you know how to use the cheats? I hope this helps as its great for trees and plants, base game or packs. By the way those path pieces are free in debug just pop them down randomly to look nice and terrain paint under if you like.
Press Control + Shift + C then type testingcheats on and press enter
Debug is
bb.showhiddenobjects
then bb.showliveeditobjects
Then in Search type debug
When I build I have all the build cheats on bb.moveobjects bb.ignoregameplayunlocksentitlement
@luckyheather Thanks for the tips! I do use debug, but hadn't really thought of getting plants from there. And I didn't know that going from build/buy mode to live mode lowers prices on items. I never noticed that.
Im glad to help @GlacierSnow and its great you now know you can lower prices, I sometime watch others play/build on YouTube or Twitch and many dont build with a sim so maybe they dont know either. Try it out pop down a fridge or something then go to live mode and back to build and pick it up and see the price drop It really helps for starters and 2nd homes. Happy Simming
By the way in debug there are some base game paving pieces some are oblong and come in 2 colours the whiter ones sims dont walk on but the cream coloured ones they do. If you have Island Living there are black paving stones in a piece and they can be walked on. Fences and walls in debug are very useful and have end pieces, but sims can walk through them so test if you dont want them to.
Oh and moo is perfect for placing plants near each other and next to house bases.
If you want my builder sim who is great to upgrade Fireplaces so you can have smoke in gallery shots and I use her to upgrade the weather machine so I can chose season and weather when building, her recent upload Link below https://www.ea.com/games/the-sims/the-sims-4/pc/gallery/06A49756853811EC8718883B27350755?

@luckyheather Thank you so much! These are some great tips. I'll definitely try out that live mode/build mode trick. I usually build everything before I move a sim in, so I never knew about that. And I was wondering where you got those paving stones from.
