The ghosts color's don't have anything to do with how they died.. They show the ghosts emotional state.. Red Angry, Orange Tense, Blue Sad, Green Happy.... Each one has a different shader effect to show how they died, like electrocuted sims have lightning in them, fire death sims have smoke inside.. Angry Death sims have steam rising off them.... etc....

This. It's the ghost's current emotional state that matters, not how they died. You could presumably also go for Confident for a more blue-green color.

You can't die from sadness, EA thought that would be a bit much.

Maybe not from sadness, but if you're sad when you die (of another cause), that could work.
