Crashes while saving

Each time I try to save my game--whether I've been active in the world or just hanging out on the current lot--when I hit save, it will appear to be saving for 5 seconds then crashes to the desktop, stating that the program needed to close. I've been dealing with this since after the patch, but it didn't start to crash immediately following that update.

I have no mods or CC. I'm playing offline. In Sims 3, I religiously deleted the designated cache files before I played; however, I don't know which to delete in Sims 4, if there is a backlog of cache files. :\

What is causing the crashes, and what can I do--if anything--to save my games?

What else do you have running? Should be fine but something is eating up over half of your RAM. That's probably the problem, it runs out of memory before it can save the game.
Life is what you make it so, make it good.

OK, DarkAmaranth; that makes sense! I usually just have Origin open during game play - would that have anything to do with it? :\

It's unlikely to be Origin. Check what background tasks you have running, using Task Manager.

There was only one thing that was eating up my memory--Windows Error Reporting, or something--but upon closing that (and Origin), it still crashes on saving.

So frustrated that I bought this game and cannot save game play! :(

Well, graphics is one thing (it's really old! My 9600 - so a higher model gave up after Sims 3 Uni). But the saving thing should be something else. Maybe try to increase your "page file"/"virtual memory" (it's in system settings somewhere).

If any one who has having similar phantom crashes please visit my thread and post something simple. I will not try to help, but I am collecting signatures so to speak...

    Thread: http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/787898/random-crashes-100-guaranteed-visuals-included#latest

Please say one of the following:
"I have this problem" or "I have a similar problem"

When I contact EA, which I periodically do, we will have a definite and clean collection of signatures so EA has something to look at - So we can get them to patch.
If I was helpful, or if you enjoyed my post always give a good rep or nice "Like / Thanks" by clicking below my post.

Decrain: Could you please elaborate on Build 9600? Sorry to be daft, but I see it in my dxdiag, and I don't follow. :)

I ment ny geforce 9600 (which should be a bit better than yours 8500 - graphics card) gave up a long time ago. That's it. nothing more. My card couldn't stand the stress. I had to buy a new laptop

Thanks for clarifying, Decrain! :) The Sims 3 still runs fine for me, so I'm so frustrated with this issue and Sims 4. I'm going back to playing what works ... until another update comes along. ;)

You only have a 32 bit windows.. in order to use your full amount of ram you need to get a 64bit.. windows 32bit can only read up to 4GB of ram.
Nothing is eating up your ram.. you just have the incorrect version of windows.. this might be the reason for your crashing.

After playing with some new households, it appears that my saved games may have been corrupt. Just updating this post and hoping that my new games keep on saving. B) Thanks for the replies, everyone!

I'm having this issue of crash on saving oftenly, but it is not RAM memory, nor if the system is 32bits, 'cause mine has a lot of free memory and it's 64bits.
I save the game everytime the house I'm playing with is going to sleep. Every single game day. This way if I have to play a game day again, at least I know it is just one game day. I also save before starting something important, like a party or a "have a baby" action.
Edit: as from TS3, I use to save the same game in two names (like game1, game2)... just for safety.

    @RogerioMello

Please open a new thread on your case, as crashes on save can be caused by different things.
Also please include your system specs (run dxdiag, export the data into txt file, then copy paste it in several posts as it's too big for one post).

Hey, Joxer... np... In fact, in my case I think the problem is with graphics. I can run the game in very high quality, but the save issues increase. I've played the game in middle-low quality for a day, and didn't have the issue (but, of course, it's annoying).
Anyway, let's hope something change (for better, of course... lol) with the new patch, for all of us. Let's swim!
