Advice for making career clothing available without leveling the job?

Has anyone been successful in making career clothing available for everyday use, without having leveled the job to unlock it first?
I'm trying to get the supervillain boots to work on a male Sim that I plan to upload to the Gallery, but was just going to offer the CC to my friends instead so they wouldn't be forced to max out a villain. I've tried cloning career clothing in Color Magic and setting the flag to Everyday, but I still don't see it in my CAS when I start the game, so I'm guessing it's not possible or I'm not doing it right.
I tried to clone the texture files, but the supervillain boots have 3 LOD0-3 parts, where as every other type of male shoe only has 1 to 2, so that didn't work for me, either.
Has anyone else had any luck with this, or does anyone have any ideas for how I can make it work?
