Quick List of Building Hot Keys

I was wondering for the longest time how people got 1/4 of a floor tile (make it a triangle) then I was able to find this list of building hot keys from Video Blogger. Enjoy and hope it helps!

For the tools in build mode:
Eyedropper Tool (toggle): E
Hand Tool: H
Sledgehammer Tool (toggle): K
Design Tool (toggle): R
Wall Tool: B
Toggles Day/Night in B/B: L
Allow off-grid placement while dragging around an object: Alt
Toggle Grid: G
Cycle Between 1/2 tile and 1/4 tile grid snapping for object placement: F5
Flood Fill a single wall while placing wall patterns: Alt
Flood Fill floor & wall paint while placing floor or wall patterns: Shift
Toggle to 1/4 tile floor paint while placing floor tile patterns: Ctrl + F
Reduce Terrain Brush Size while Terrain Paint catalog is open: [
Increase Terrain Brush Size while Terrain Paint catalog is open: ]
Move Terrain Brush Softness Slider to the Left while Terrain Paint catalog is open: ;
Move Terrain Brush Softness Slider to the Right while Terrain Paint catalog is open: '
Toggle Terrain Paint/Eraser while Terrain Paint catalog is open: Ctrl
Move Whole House tool: U
Toggle Video Recording: V
Capture Screenshot: C

When you're placing objects in build mode:
Rotate held/selected object, block, roof, anything rotatable: < / >
Move object to next slot in surface with a slotted object selected and on a slot surface: M
Copy held/selected object on placement: Shift
Inventory held/selected object: Backspace
Delete held/selected object: Delete
Undo: Ctrl + Z
Redo: Ctrl + Y

For the camera:
Have the camera follow the Sim: Right-click on the Sim's portrait
Toggle Top Down View: T
Go to Next Floor Up: Page Up
Go to Next Floor Down: Page Down
Walls Up: Home
Walls Down: End

Also, some other helpful hints for new builders:
When placing kitchen cabinets, the "automatic" option is turned on. Turn it off to choose the size, height and other styles of your cabinets.

Thankyou for listing the building hot keys They will be very helpful for simmers whilst building. It is great that you also posted about the option to turn automatic placement off and on with the kitchen cabinets.

Tab does the camera man mode thing, I noticed you didn't have it listed under Camera. I don't know what it's called. But once you press it there's controls to move it around:

Q & E = Control the height and decent of the camera
WASD = Move around - forward, back, left, & right
- & + = Zoom out and in
Mouse movement = Makes the camera look around

Alt - key disables lock in place and allows for moving items closer together & into corners without moo

Do you know if there are hotkeys specific to setting up movies in TS4? In TS2 you could set up a series of shots by using control+1, control+2, etc. so that the camera would smoothly move between locations while tabbed. Then while filming you just used the numbers 1, 2, etc -- I think it was up to 5. I'd love to be able to do that with TS4 movies but haven't found anything on the site yet that talks about hotkeys specifically for videos. Thanks.

This is perfect and exactly what I needed. Thanks @rosemow ! It's just as I remembered TS2 -- forgot you can't use 1-4 since those are slotted to speed and pause? for 4. I can't remember. I'm still a bit rusty coming back to this. This vid showed a lot more detail about slowing shots which is fantastic. Great content in that vid. I subscribed. Thanks again! ♥
