How to change Images on Paintings?

I know it was possible to do this in Sims 2 with the Custom Drawings, and in Sims 3 I heard you have to clone and recolor a EA-Made Painting to get Custom Paintings into the Game.
So how would I attempt to Change those Paintings to Custom ones?, does it work similiar to Changing T-Shirts and stuff?.

The paintings are certainly _IMG files and s4pe isn't reading _IMG at the moment, so these files can't be altered yet.

If I recall correctly @granthes has said that the objects are going to be quite a bit trickier but has been looking into it... that's one of the things I've been looking forward to most so I'm hoping we'll be able to do it at some point.

I definitely need some new paintings for my modern homes! The paintings that came with the game just do not work for an ultra modern look! :p
