Update won't install

Ok, I downloaded the game and it was working fine. I didn't have the ugly baby issue that the update fixed but I can't get the update to install. Whats worse is it won't let me play in "On line" mode until it installs. The game is NOT grayed out like others have complained about. I can press it on my desktop and in origin just fine. But it starts to boot up and then it says it can't install the upgrade and I can't play until I do. GRRRR.
Even when the computer boots up, it tries to automatically install it and I get a slightly different message that says essentially the same thing.
I could care less about the update but what concerns me is that this may stop me from getting any future updates and obviously i can't access any of the on line stuff.
