Hey all, we have no plans to close The Sims 3 Store in the immediate future. As you already know, we will not be making any new content but the Store will remain open for a while yet. And, if we do decide to close the Store, we will provide lots of notice.
@SimGuruBChick - Thank you so much for posting this. So many Simmers have been panic buying due to constant rumours that the store is closing. I appreciate that you are taking care of the loyal Sims 3 fans by keeping us informed, not only about the store's future, but also that the issue with the ads is being worked on.
@SimGuruBChick Great news! Thank you for posting. I was worried if I would get everything especially now the ads are down but it's good to know I have plenty of time. I second @simgeek79 question about CYS I understand why it's not enabled on venues but not why some sets don't have it.
Wow, word from the powers that be. Great to have confirmation on the store staying open for a while yet from @SimGuruBChick.
I'm so close now to owning the store - Monday Feb. 9 is Boardwalk day. Then need few clean up items and victory will be mine!
I join others on the Ads Ads Ads chant, as long as store is open someday my points will come.
I'm sure I'm not the only one ready to pick up Boardwalk.
Right before I went to buy The Boardwalk I came upon this message. I am very interested to know what will happen on February 9. Will there be a sale for the set? If it is how did you find out about it?

Great to hear! And I, and a lot of other simmers are hoping and waiting for news about adding more old content to the store. Promos etc, please...! :awesome:

This current list is on repeat. You can find a link to the awesome spreadsheet that has tracked the first rotation of the list, in the first comment in this thread, along with many other useful links for stalking.
The Boardwalk is deal nr 694, and it will come up the 9th or 10th of February, depending on your timezone - and you can see your timezone on the awesome spreadsheet.
Glad to see so many got Romanza free too!! I only owned 27%!! I should be getting Happily Ever After for free this morning too (one hour 11 minutes to go!) I do hope SimGuruBChick gets back to us on the other items but it is such a relief to know that the store will be around for a while still
I now Own the Store!!...Thank you to everyone who helped me get here
You can stop memories with Master Controller. Open Master Controller and click settings and it should be the first option. Allow Memory Creation, Set it to False.
To get rid of any memories already made go under Intermediate and click on Remove Memories and select which memories to remove.
also see a message that follows that one

To remove all town memories: click the town hall, select Master Controller. Select sim > intermediate > Remove memories, then select all sims; I do this by selecting the Homeworld option, then the "All" selection from the list. This works, I did it earlier today.
If posting the reference link in this manner is inappropriate, I will edit this on request.
FTR, I did the second process and my file size changed from 90GBs to 881MBs! Yes, a 90% reduction in file size! This is on a legacy challenge game where I'm on Generation 7, with townies with lifespans over 350 days, so they had been piling up memories for the game equivalent of centuries lol!
Remember: Wherever you go...there you are.
One day, my wishlist turned into Own the Store, and there was no more wishlist. How remarkable.

Is mastercontroller a safe mod to use? I keep having troubles with error 12, and is running out of options

This is one of crinrict's points
The memory system introduced with Patch 1.21/1.22 bloats your save game enormously. This can become heavy on your RAM. Delete memories for your active/inactive Sims that you don’t need. MasterController helps with that
Crinrict endorses MasterController. I don't use mods, but MasterController is a very well respected mod from Nraas. I would say it is one of the tops mods that Simmers recommend.

Yikes!
That has me reeling with the awareness that so many players must have such potential cause for game corrupting bloat.
Thanks for sharing that!
PS. Don't overlook the fact that loading times could improve with the bloat removed. Bloated files that work may still result in repetitious loading time computations that you do not really need.

Oh wow, that's big! Strangely enough my third generation game that bloats my ram after an hour of play (and needs countless saves during that hour) is only 495 MB. That should be no match for 5 free GB's of ram (of 14 GB). The mystery continues.

Thank you Aleta for your help. I finally noticed the link for the spreadsheet.
Does anyone know when the sale on Origin ends? I can't find a date. -.-
Hi Jenna,
It's should be at the bottom of the main deals page: "OFFER EXPIRES FEBRUARY 13, 2015 06:00 PM GMT." So, you've got a little while to make your mind up

Holy Moly! That's a BIG file. I thought my legacy game was OTT at 16Gb, that took about fifteen minutes to load on my old PC and eventually I just had to give up on it.
And thank you @SemaviLady for drawing our attention to those options in MasterController. (*)

I think it is working well. I am not an expert. I don't crash very often any more. In fact, I haven't crashed in a long while, even though I had the enormous 90GB files. So it must be helping, right?!

I think you're right - the load time is better. FTR, I left the memories intact for my immediate family, both active and not active. That accounts for some of the remaining 881 MBs. The 89GB reduction in file size was just from deleting the memories of townies not in my family.

@SemaviLady thank you. It seems like many of the people I find most inspirational are just like you, who have learned ways to cope with what life has given you. You are kind and give back to others despite what may be given to you.
Its absolutely amazing that SimGuruBChick posted news to let us know that things are still alive! Thanks, I can breathe a little easier with my plan to only buy things at their greatest discount which require I wait for another round. Ads and more CYS availability would be awesome, but I'll just sit in my chair and try to be patient.
Thanks to some generous donors (Does that sound weird? Definitely does.) I picked up the Romanza for 25 SP. I'm excited for The Boardwalk to @p-para-Xylene. I'm not working though, so I have to plead with my husband to pretty, pretty please buy me enough SP to buy stuff like this. Doesn't leave a lot of points afterwards though, and I can't get them all the time.
Wow yeah, I really ought to look into utilizing the Nraas mods.
Oooh, that is a lovely build @Pugslover4! I remember the books in elementary school. I had a project one to build the Ingle home with Popsicle sticks. It was going to be terrific because I had all these ideas for it. Unfortunately, I either ran out of time or didn't have the supplies. Maybe it would be fun to do something similar with my son when he is older.
