The other thing that helps is to always Save As instead of Save and rename the file. What I do is use the name of the main sim (or the family's last name) and a number. The first save would be "Angelica 1", then the next Save As is "Angelica 2". I use Nrass Saver to save every 30 minutes. I've had too many issues and lost hours of play, so I am now a paranoid saver.
    ^This.

I'm even more OCD when it comes to saves. Because I remember the old Error 12 from "back in the day" when WA first came out, I learned to ALWAYS do a "Save As". I'm so OCD that I have a specific naming convention. Starts with the initials for the world (MH for Midnight Hollow, RV for Riverview, etc.), the name of the family, then 0001a, 0001b, etc. This allows you 26 thousand potential saves for a particular world & family for just a few extra characters. (More, if you make it 0001aa, 0001ab, etc.) This also allows me to look at saves in my Saves folder and know exactly which ones are for what, and which is that family's latest save file.

Did you know the Saves folder apparently has a limit? Well, not the folder itself, but once you go over a certain number, the game can no longer see newer saves when you want to load a game. So every so often I have to move the folder to a backups folder, rename it with the current date, create a new Saves folder in my Sims 3 directory, and then copy the latest save from each game back. Notice: COPY. NOT MOVE. I'm uber-paranoid when it comes to saves in Sims 3, due to the fact that occasionally the game itself will corrupt a save FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I think EA hates us or something. Or there are gremlins that live in the game who just love aggravating us.

Sorry to hear about all your problems lately :( Hopefully it will work out!
One question: I am still dreaming about The Prism art Studio and the The Now & Then Century Manor(I pretty much only build Victorian looking houses and mansions, so the set would be perfect), but they don’t seem to appear on DD….Fingers crossed that they will show up before Christmas!
But which one of the sets do you prefer if you had to choose? :D

I`m so sorry that your motherboard has crashed. That is really bad news. Can it be fixed?

:( Sometimes this game is a hateful, hateful thing...

Nrass Errortrap can help with a lot of the save game corruptions. They virtually disappeared when I added the mod to my game.

To keep from having too many back-up saves, I go through about every third or fourth time I play and delete the oldest saves. That can be done in-game at the window where you choose which save to load, or they can be deleted right out of the saved games folder.

    I hope this helps!
I save my files the same way like you are doing it but I always delete the older saves. I wish I had saved some of them to my external drive because today, my game doesn`t want to load my last save. Fortunately I saved the lot I`m currently working on in the bin so that I`m able to place it again.
Thank you everyone for the well wishes. Still in pain this morning in the same spot. I hope that the pain will go away and I can feel better soon.
I`m so sorry that you`re still in pain today. Sending good wishes and positive energy to you! I hope that you`ll feel better really soon.

I had to laugh loud about the 26 thousand potential saves. Thanks for the telling your way of saving. I love the idea with the initals of the worlds, this will be a great help.

I love both sets but if I were you, I`d prefer the Now & Then Century Manor because it comes with great building items.

Or there are gremlins that live in the game who just love aggravating us.

It's those garden gnomes. They are EEEEvil. (Seriously, I find them to be quite creepy.) I can't be the only one here who remembers this happening in-game.

Or finding one watching your sim shower... I think they are weeping angels in disguise.

@Niralyn happy birthday! hope it's great!

@HopeAK between the two you mentioned, so far I really like the Prism Art Studio, it's a really cool community lot, though I haven't played with the Manor much yet, so I can't say too much about that. :)

Yes. Yes! Yes!!! I always thought the gnomes were creepy - Weeping Angels explains everything. Do they feed off the bad vibes when your Sims kick them?
Of course, in most cases Dr. Who explains everything. Period.

Just dropping by to check in and see how many pages I am behind! :chuckle:

Hope everyone who has pain feels better, has computer problems get them fixed as quickly and cheaply as possible, has game problems fixes them without losing anything (I am fighting those myself), and that everyone just has minimal OE problems.

I am also hoping for a storewide sale this Christmas season or maybe an after Christmas sale. I remember we had that one year. It would be nice if EA remembers all of us loyal customers. I would be more inclined to Sims 4 and beyond if they didn't forget about us as soon as the newest version comes out. But I haven't given up hope!

I really enjoy reading this thread and keeping up with everyone's lives. I can't post as much as I would like (or play as much either) right now, but I am trying to catch up when I can. Hope everyone is having a good holiday season, whatever holiday you celebrate!

    And Happy Birthday @Niralyn!

Thank you everyone for all the awesome advice!! I am going to add the mod today. Also it might have been due to the fact I only had 3 gigs of hard drive space left. The hd on this is only 99 gigs so I am working on getting rid of pretty much everything else but the sims now. I have 8 gigs free now but still am trying to find more.

Also debating on the providence set...it is at 90 points for me. Maybe I should wait...lol

@Niralyn, Happy Birthday to you hon!! Have a wonderful day!!!
