@HIGHER_DESIGNThe judges have decided that you should be promoted to the Expert group for future challenges. Congratulations on your win and promotion! Well done! 🌹
May I ask for an elaboration on "a space to create inventions"? Does this mean "a workbench anywhere on the property" or "a separate room with a workbench in it"? Or can it mean something else? (If I really sell the concept of the shower as "a space to create inventions" because you can have a scientific breakthrough there, would that count or would you rightfully call me out on my BS?)

While you can dream up inventions in the shower, it would be difficult to actually "create" them in there. So... a bit more than a shower will be required for this one How much more is entirely up to you though.
@leashahampton Thanks. These competitions always seem to be a tough scrape with the budget. I'd like to do a little more with the top level but I doubt I will have the funds.
A challenge, indeed! I'm having a tough time with finding lighting. I have zero options for wall or hanging lights. Every light requires a surface or full tile. Gonna be a dimly lit home for sure.

Maybe use Moveobjects on and the Debug lighting, its free so you can put as much light in the home as you need! you won't see the square lights in life mode, only build mode
@Archer_Girl The vampires pack has wall and chandelier options that work off the grid.
@Pinkusfamily I'm using Hindquarter Hideaway in Brindleton Bay. I like the remoteness for this challenge and there is a nice fishing pond nearby. Is that one too small?
Overall, off the grid is tricky because it's implemented inconsistently. I think there's a fridge that works off the grid (the one that goes with the wood stove) but it's not labelled as such. I will need to do more play testing than usual.
Off the grid was extremely badly executed by the devs. So much so that it’s not even fun to play. I play tested my build off grid at freezing temperature to make sure the Sims would stay warm but I disagree with the brackish water because my Sims have excellent well water at on their lot. My lot can work off grid, But, any ideas that Electric stoves can cook what wood stoves can’t is a logical fallacy, Also the fact that the woodstoves don’t heat the house was a terrible oversight in the development of the off grid lot trait. Many houses have been and are heated by the woodstove in the kitchen it’s quite fundamental in off grid homes past and present. So I am going to post my lot as off grid ready but not use the trait.
@wendyology , I don't have the Vampire pack, unfortunately. But I found that there is a little candle bowl with the holiday stuff that sits on a shelf so that was helpful.

I have been doing a lot of studying of architecture from 1881 for aesthetics ..
Also looking for a nice sized lot that is inexpensive..
Then I was looking at the plumbing options of that era too..
To go with off the grid lot trait or not is also another question...
