I can't find it in the rules, but does your sim have to get a job to make money? All day yesterday I was preparing to make my new legacy challenge and I downloaded lots and filled up new crest with sims and lots and filled up other worlds with lots and sims except for the 50x50 lot in willow creek. One lot I found was from a user name Girkl in the gallery and it has painting and woodworking, there is also a café and I figure my sim (who is a painter) can just go there and make some money as well as digging and fishing.
With the new wishing well object my founder wished for money and won the lottery the first sim day I played her. I need to know if this is going to be against the rules. It's not technically a cheat and it is a gamble but want to know if we have restrictions on the wishing well.

Very good question @nutm3g8 @Pinstar1161 and his family are moving their (RL) household. The Wishing Well will also add Children so it will be good to get a ruling on that at well.

@OncerFan4Life Per the Legacy rules your founder (or heirs) are not required to get jobs. They can make money by other means like painting, writing or crafting or gardening etc.
" Random: The title of heir is randomly selected from the pool of all eligible children. Every time the eligible pool changes size, The heir must be re-rolled using the new pool."
I don't understand this. Please can someone explain

Let me see if I can explain. (I hope)
Say your Sim has 2 children. You decide to have one of these 2 be the heir. But then a 3rd child is born. You must then "roll" to decide which will be heir.
You can use an actual pair of dice or an on line random roll program. Assign a number to each child and roll to decide which will be heir.

Oh ok thanks!
But do you have to post yourself rolling the dice or some other way of proving that you're being fair, cuz I don't want to have to to dat stuff!

I DON'T GET IT!
A democracy is usually (in real life) represented by a public vote to decide an issue.
In this instance you would be telling the story of your legacy as described above. The heir would be determined by popular vote. Someone other than you would vote for the next child to be the heir.

Ok.
But is the legacy story just the family tree or is it about other stuff?

@EverGreenLife The Legacy Story is the player telling the story of what is happening. Storytelling in any form. Maybe a thread or a blog or a recording of what is going on in your game.
Started this challenge a little while ago, and currently on the second generation with the third all being children! My current points is 7.. I feel like I should be doing better than that. Anyone else doing the point system?

Hi! I have a question, why does it have to be on Normal lifespan, it feels like so rushed cause you have 20 days for your sim to find a man and get pregnant to start the first gen. Having it on long makes it feel less rushed, I would like to give my sim some time to make some money and a decent house before moving her future hubby in.

@iDannieSimmer Part of the challenge is time management. Normal life span is the rule. Actually I completed a 10 generation legacy on short life span a while back. It was not easy and though some skills were Maxed I do not recall any generation getting to the top of their career. Ultimately it is your game to play however you like. The Sims 4 Legacy Challenge or any game play challenge present options to play that encourage the player to try new things. Most importantly ... just have FUN.

Just dropping a comment to say I started the challenge. I'm new to the forums so I can't post images directly yet, but I have two blogs that I'm posting stuff on. One is my main Simblr, where all my Sims stuff goes (as-sim-ilations.tumblr.com) and the other is an IC blog for my Legacy Challenge founder Sim (nascimbene-legacy.tumblr.com). The IC blog has images of the founder Sim up, and will have the bulk of the Challenge images posted. I dig the concept, and it gives me a lot of direction for my game - way more than anything else has. :p

I am terrible at tracking points so I choose to just play and have fun. There have been a few Simmers who have created Score sheets to use.
@ImaginingMystic has complied a list on the site.
