I'm not a big fan of Origin, but I'm glad they are putting together an Ultimate Collection for TS2. I also like how if you register a physical copy of your game, it puts a digital copy in your library for free.

Unfortunately for me, all my TS2 games are on disc and Origin wasn't offering the digital backups back when I got my games. Otherwise, I would love to have this as an option. I'm afraid my TS2 games will become damaged eventually from ordinary wear and tear.

I can't remember how exactly, but about a year ago I spoke to someone from customer support and managed to bag a FREE copy of The Sims 2 Double Deluxe! That and Freetime are the only Sims 2 games I have on origin (but I have both as a hard copy too, in case EA shut down origin or something and so I have a game to fall back on).

I'd advice you all the same. Don't rely 100% on Origin for The Sims 2 - at one time or another it won't surprise me if EA remove them.

You're absolutely right. That is why I always opt for physical copies over digital. I already have my TS2 holiday mini pack on an external hard drive for safe keeping :D

It's good to know someone else does it!

If I'm not mistaken, in EULA it states that EA have the right to recall every copy of the game if they do so. I don't know if I'm making that up, but it sounds familiar.

wait, I thought you can't register sims 2 disc on origin, I tried and it said it wasn't a valid code :<

I wish hotmail didn't clear all the old emails, if they didn't I wouldn't be in this mess.

i rushed around trying to find some of my copies of sims 2 and expansions, couldn't find all of them but when i tried to add them to my origin they weren't valid unfortunately. tried to see if i could do anything if i opened up my game when this happened

I don't know if it was because I have 8.1 but it stopped working when I would go to start the game. i don't think any of them are linked to my account tho :( so sad. Ive been wanting to play!

There probably taking into account all the people that registered there copy of Sims 2 way back when it first came out. Cause I got the email also and I only own 2 expansion packs and 3 stuff packs via origin and I still got this email.

I've searched Origin for Sims 2 (under store tab) and I didn't see it. Is this actually real and if so, how do I get it?

I haven't gotten a email yet, but some other friends have. I checked my email, my Origin games library and my purchase history. Nothing. The only thing in the library is the sims 2 store. That is old. But I did here Origin was having problems because of CAS demo. This probably just adds to it.

I still own my copy of Bon Voyage but I can't register it. If I spoke to someone and was able to register it is it possible I could end up with this pack?

Just add the sims 2 application as a shortcut on your desktop and launch from there to override the launcher. The Sims 2 is no longer supported, so it has caused the launcher to not work properly.

You can google it to get more detailed instructions. My games aren't installed at the moment, so I can't give you a step-by-step.

    Bewildered??

I got my TS2 and all its expansions out of the closet after 6 years. They were all on disk. I had to go to a 3rd party site to get the patches for them because EA is no longer hosting the patches. I purchased all these games long before Origin ever existed.

How would I get Origin to recognize them? Do I want to?

I got this email today as well. I own all the Sims 2 EP's and SP's but one. Some I bought digitally and are in Origin, some I bought on disk. I'm curious how downloading this collection compares. Does it really contain EVERYTHING?
The "technical support" portion of the email made me laugh. Sims 2 hasn't been truly supported by anyone but fans for several years.

I'm not sure about now because they no longer sell them. But back in 2009 when they switched from EA downloader to Orgin, all my Sims 2 games disappeared. I called customer service and they looked up my purchase history, then the games appeared in My Games on Origin.
Edit: I did have digital versions though. I honestly don't remember if you could register disks and download digital versions like you can with Sims 3... so my advice might be useless to you. By the time I did purchase some SP's on disks, Sims 3 was out and they'd switched to Origin.

It would be nice if it contained all TS2 store content, plus DLC preorder bonuses that came with each expansion or stuff pack.

Nope... no email for me.

I have TS2 Store left in my Origins games section but they removed all the rest I had Registered. I made sure to register them because EA said they'd always be available in download form if we did.

It did peeve me a little when they removed them- as if they were only making sure to get Origin on my computer.

Exactly Right! You cannot use the launcher, it's broken. BUT I play from the desktop shortcut I created. Be sure to create the shortcut from the most recent EP or SP you have installed.

I don't have time for more detailed instructions right now, but google (google actually searches THESE forums better than the search function here) it, or ask and I may be able to help later on today. It's pretty easy to create.

That happened to me. I contacted customer service and didn't leave them alone until they'd restored my games. They can see your purchase/register history. I only lost one because they'd put it into a compilation and she said they couldn't restore it. Unfortunately for you, that may be the case for all of them now.

FluorescentSoap, I am not sure if this will help you, but here you go. If you still have the computer the sims is installed on you might be able to retrieve the codes from within the computer registry. But be very very careful.

Exactly Right! You cannot use the launcher, it's broken. BUT I play from the desktop shortcut I created. Be sure to create the shortcut from the most recent EP or SP you have installed.

It's really easy. Right click on your Sims 2 icon that you use to start your game. Scroll down to Properties. Under the tab that says "Shortcut" at the top you will see a box that says "Target". This is obviously the target of the icon you are clicking. At the very end of it, it says "Sims2launcher.exe". Change it so it says the name of your latest EP instead. You can google the Sims 2 EP list to see what yours is. Mine is Mansion and Garden, which was EP 9. So I changed it to "Sims2EP9.exe". I also put a -w after that to make the game open in windowed mode.
Now your game will bypass the launcher. ;) Before I did that, I always just turned wireless off because the icon is right on my task bar. The problem is that it's trying to connect to a nonexistent Sims 2 website.

I wonder if their new install will solve that issue so that the launcher works properly?
