Oh, and no... I've not done any real decorating in my house because I just can't get past that dated look. I have over 1/2 the paper down, because I want to paint.
In my living room, I had begun sanding all the walls so they are ready to receive some kilz and some paint. I just can't talk my husband into letting me refinish the brick fireplace with stacked stone. BOO!
This house belongs to my husband's grandmother, who passed some time back. I have been working to remodel it. The main rooms had to be halted to make way for the bathroom remodel, because my husband practically fell through the bathroom wall when he slipped in the tub. Found out we have moisture issues that now we have to fix. Going for FULL scale remodel. LOL
I have not expressed how much I have a love/hate relationship with this house.
Anyhow, I just hijacked your thread, I'm sorry.
Not hijacking at all. I'm always interested in what you have to say Your house sounds like a big job!
well if you can do this in real life... you can be the one to make my artstudio (I can paint) when I get the money that is
Lol, fairly sure I can't do any of this stuff in real life! It's really cool that you can paint I was always awful at it! My boyfriend is very good at sketching though, so I'm sure he'd love to have an art room...and a music room...and a library...
Oh GC, I am sooo drooling for ur art studio!! Oh can see myself there creating/designing/researching... If i somehow have Barcnacle Bay(heard tt once upon time, for very short period it was free...maybe they will repeat in spring again?) ,i will definitely try to have ur own Barnacle Bay!! ) I know i am lack of many store items and eps but still will download ur amazing creations!!
Thanks so much! What a nice thing to say. Thanks for all your support of my creations - I'm sorry I always end up using so much store content!
Added a wall speaker to the art studio room but otherwise haven't changed anything else on the ground floor of the house, which is now finished. (Just three upstairs rooms left to go now!)
The art studio is actually over two floors - it continues into the basement! I noticed the dogs were often bringing back metals and gems so I wanted a place for those to be cut/smelted, and I ended up creating a kind of metalwork room.
Gem cutting machine and decorative work benches. I used the same chairs as upstairs for a bit of continuity.
I placed a complete chinese vase collection because I think they're lovely colours and also to reflect Odessa's adventurous trait. They also give a bonus moodlet. Sims will get a +60 mood boost just from being in the room (possibly more, depending on their traits): +40 from nicely decorated, +10 from the relic collection, and +10 from the music.
I had some extra space so added an inventing bench, because it seemed to fit in with the theme of the room. The glass blowing/smelting station is in the corner. You can't really see in this picture but I've placed pink, yellow, and blue gems on the display that match the colourful glass in the boxes on the glass blowing/smelting station, to suggest they were made at the station. Also, the pink one will come in handy if you want to make a simbot.
The metalworkshop looks amazing! Love the layout and positioning of the decorations  Question: where do you get all the Chinese v.a.s.e.s. <---(why is this being censored? lol) specifically the fancy ones? I can find 2 (the blue and the green) using buydebug, but not the others.
Haha, no idea why plural of vase is censored. I always try to work out what bad word it's related to, but I've never been able to!
You collect them by exploring WA tombs in China. If you don't feel like doing those, I've uploaded a complete relic collection here for people to use in their builds. The Chinese vase collection is in the red and black chest
ohhhhh.... now I know what was censored in your post on your white sands thread. lol!!! I was thinking, "what on earth?" Yea, some of their censorship is WELL overboard!
You can't be that old. I'll be cresting that half way through my 30's mark this August. However, I am not as adverse to turning 35 as I was to turning 30... that was a hard year to swallow!
Thank you for the resources! I will be most definitely downloading them!
oh want it even more now... and that wall art in the teen bedroom is just lovely (I wish we could chose what our sims make... so it is either random or a creation they made before - in all the creative arts)
the vase thing is just stupide... but they got so many stupide censoring thing
The metalwork room looks great! Great furnishing of it! It is great that you have the glass blowing machine there and also an inventing machine and gem cutter. The Chinese ***** look very nice there. Very nice picture on the wall for sims to enjoy seeing when spending time using the skill items there. The simbot looks great standing there. The string lights look nice. The attic teen bedroom looks very nice! It looks very nice how you have done the bookcase section and have placed the picture on the textured wall behind it! The pattern and colour that you have used for the rest of the walls there looks very nice. The cushions look nice placed on the bed. The floor mats type looks nice with the colours of the bed and walls.
Thank you, Anette! I really love that wall mural too. I agree it would be great to be able to chose what sims paint! I tend just to be lazy and use Joolster's collection of all possible paintings on one lot.
I've been having my current tester sim write some ya novels for the teen bedroom. She's been sitting in the art studio working on the Hunger Games trilogy 8)

It is a lovely sunrise picture taken through the window! The sims will have such nice views! The art studio is a very nice place for sims to do artvwork and writing. It is great that you are placing personalised books in the teen's bookcase.
Teen bedroom looks delightful! I love that colour and the ceiling! The attic is so pretty! Love how you have used sim created paintings and those string lights is so pretty!

I can see taht work when building.... but when playing not so much
Aww I love all the rooms. And that amazing long desk on art studio! Decors around it looks lovely. I wish I had a table like that How you decorate attic room looks wonderful too
Birds-eye view. The little alcove round the corner was because I wanted to use the complete dangerous creatures collection for the moodlet but they don't look great together so I wanted to hide the French and Chinese ones as much as possible. Ignore the pink carpet outside - I've changed that now.
If I zoom right out (I hate doing this!) you can see the cool ceiling. I want this in real life! Hmm, I've just realised there's no dresser. I guess I should add one somewhere.
Upstairs is coming along nicely. One room left to do - the nursery.
As always, I'd really welcome any name suggestions! The house is almost done and I have no idea what to call it

Thanks so much, yanti! I think I might have gone a bit crazy with the clutter 8)

I suppose any of these definitions would be the culprit.
  I feel so old!
Doesn't explain why only the plural is censored though!
I have a couple more resources in my studio.
Various other World Adventures bits and pieces, basically anything that's not a relic (more for tomb explorers than home builders) - http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=8234538
Speciality plants (perfect quality cheese, egg, burger patty, steak, and omni plants) - http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=8161595
I thought I'd uploaded that science object from UL too but apparently not.
Thank you for the resources! I will be most definitely downloading them!
Yes, I'm a bit younger than you. I'm 'celebrating' a birthday in a little over a week though

I really LOVE the teen bedroom, I think I may have to steal that idea when it comes to decorating my daughters room, in RL!
I made a start on the master bedroom.
Off to make some custom artwork for the walls now
