It seems the answer to having to go into buy mode at bakeries to stock the shelves is to not cook in the bakery. Do all baking at home. Put it into your Sim's inventory. Then you can go to the bakery and stock the shelves by dragging things from the Sim's inventory into the baking shelves and displays. The Sim can stay at home while you do this.
The other benefit from doing this is that when a Sim purchases from the bakery that has been stocked this way, the item goes into the Sim's personal inventory and they can eat it. If you only stock using buy mode in the bakery, the item goes into the household inventory. Once some items in the displays are baked at home items, then everything seems to go into the Sim's personal inventory when they purchase it.
Karritz: Yes! I have it listed now. Thanks for hosting this thread, I have it book marked and it will be fun seeing other simmers builds.
Excellent. I'll add it to an index in the first post like I do in the Roller Coaster thread. That way people will be able to find the pages with actual links if they want to download something.
I hope you add some more bakeries too when you are ready.
thank you for starting this post, I love all the builds and info, but I hate the venue, love the things that come with it, but the building has to go, who in the world built that? It is the most ugly, craziest bakery I have ever seen, It is big and ugly. I wanted to delete it from the top down, but could not delete the ref cabinets and shelf. I am going to try and put it in some kind of mall. I have the mall made by
CravenLestat so I am going to see what that does.
I guess I was looking for a cute little Bakery not the monstrous, ugly building like we got, with three rooms for bakery, and all the crazy stair ways. What in the world were they thinking when they built this. Where in the world did this idea of a bakery come from. They are definitely not in touch with reality. And to charge full price when everyone now is not using this building and trying to build there own.
In reality we paid for the stuff to make our own building. This should have been on sale.
Sorry as I know some really like the building, but I do not. I will also try once more to delete part of the building and perhaps try to use delete objects to remove the bakery things in the other rooms.
I've read a lot about how the build is disjointed and large, why don't you try and delete all the other rooms except for the main bakery?
So the shell is still there, cause it looks nice from the street, but all that's inside that is accessible is the singular, little bakery.
That's what I'm gonna try out first when I get this. IF any of you do try that, post some pictures and tell us how that goes!
I tried to delete all the way down to the first floor. On the first floor wither the Bakery is, I tried to delete the other rooms, and keep only the main Bakery. Well it would not let me delete, the Ref cabinets where you put the food to sell, or the shelves for the bread. I could pick them up but could not delete. I am going to try the cheat delete to see if I can delete them that way.
I would delete the other half of the building and place something else there like a mall, consignment shop or other stores etc. maybe keep the rooms and make them consignment shop etc, with their own doors, maybe the business with the rugs.
will try again.
These builds are very beautiful and inspiring for when I get to build mine. I am so thrilled with this bakery so much is available to add to make a nice shopping experience for my sims.
Your bakery part of your Alfresco shopping mall looks very nice wrenstales It looks great how you have set up the tables and chairs for sims to sit and eat at. Your mall build looks great. The dome type windows that you are using look great. Enjoy working on your build.
Pretty little bakery is very nice Crizzy2468 Very nice exterior of it! It looks nice how you have done the upper balcony railings. The flowers on the upper balconies look nice there. It looks very nice how you have placed the flowers on the corner and on the side edges of the lot. Great outdoors barista bar and bar stool counter area! Sims will enjoy sitting on the bar stools there enjoying eating or drinking in the sunshine and outside air. It looks great how you have used and placed the windows and awnings that came with the new set. The textures that you have used for the exterior look great. Nice type of seating that you have used indoors for sims to enjoy dining on. The vase of flowers in the corner of the dining area is nice for sims to see whilst they are sitting there. Nice shade of blue and pattern strip that you have used for the walls. It looks great how you have placed ceiling lights over the dining tables and over the display shelves .
It is a very nice bakery.
Oh. really enjoying all the bakeries. Was wondering how does it work simoleons wise? Is it like sims 2 open for business? Do we collect money for each item sold?

I didn't have Sims 2 but my test/learning bakery in the KPST Cake Shop is owned by my Sims and I am baking at home so I can move cakes in from the Sim's inventory.
This makes it easier to stock but I think they all get deleted at 3am. I haven't confirmed that yet because I also went into Edit Town and that would have deleted them.
If you bake on site at the bakery you have to go into buy mode to move each item into the bakery shelves. When you do that they don't vanish at 3am.
In both cases you Sim receives payment for each item sold.
I haven't tested what happens if I don't own the bakery. I did notice there is an option to sell when you choose to purchase from the register. I tried that and the item seemed to just vanish. I only did it with one item and I don't know if it ever sold or if my sims ever got payment for it. But I didn't see any evidence of it in the store.

Thank you so much! Yay! feel confident in buying the bakery now. Can't wait!
Yes. Of course you can. I'm thinking of building something a bit different too. I just want it to have a bakery type theme or at least something to do with cooking and selling food.
I just had a look at the pictures of your community garden. Is that the build you'd like to put here? I think it would go really well with this thread.
I've never actually seen a real life community garden. We all tend to either have our own, or have no interest in gardening. At my place I have space for a garden but it is mostly weeds. Maybe I should do something about that soon?
Karritz, thank you for starting this thread, and may I say that I love what you did with the KPST venue! It is a fun venue and I did a makeover on it as well not that long ago for a challenge, but I used lots of third party content
Love seeing what everyone is doing with this new set! So many creative and ingenious ideas! I created something small and simple in the hopes that it would be easier to maintain.

We live in a city where space is very limited as far as property goes. We live in a townhouse and our yard is very small. We have a community garden (which I love), but it is nothing like this one. We all pitch in to tend it (especially the kids) and then share it. My husband and I have a grape vine in our yard growing on our fence and all the kids love picking grapes. We love gardening, although I hate the dirt part. LOL
Mstybl95, I love you Meryton Community Garden! I would love to be able to walk through those paths myself! My 3 year old daughter would be your best friend knowing you have a grapevine in your backyard! She loves grapes! I am trying my hand at growing some things myself. I just planted a blueberry bush, strawberry plant, and I got my hands on a dwarf avocado tree (all of which my daughter loves). So far so good, but time will tell.
