I don't understand the excitement over gnomes...i probably have not played enough to enjoy them. Aside from the invention gnome, arent they just standing around waiting to be kicked? Please somebody enlighten me. What am I missing?

If you have a quick look through this you might get some idea:)

    Catwalk
Bakery (okay, the venue is not a shop, but I figure, maaaaaaybe it's some other "type" of lot, like a "café"...?)
    Perfume making
    Jewelry crafting
    metal smelting/crafting/smithing
Carousel (?) (I know Ferris Wheels are out, but were carousels/merry-go-rounds dust-binned too?)
Carnival Venue (?) (Same as carousels, above)
    Corn
    Chocolate making/candy making
    Restaurant
    Spa/salon
    Tea set/tea house/tea room
    ? (anything else?)

So let's eliminate a few more things...

    • Not a Carousel or anything carnival related.
    • Not Corn or Gardening related.
    • And "abuzz" was just a word, not a hint.

So let’s eliminate some more stuff from your list:

    NOT:
    • Catwalk
    • Bakery
    • Carousel
    • Carnival Venue
    • Corn
    • Chocolate making/candy making
    • Restaurant
    • Spa/salon
    • Tea set/tea house/tea room

But it still could be any number of the following:

    • Glass blowing
    • Perfume making
    • Jewelry crafting
    • Metal smelting
    • incredibly awesome (OK, maybe I threw this one in there.)
Judging by the images, this venue may be ALL 3 of the following:
    • Glass blowing
    • Perfume making [we could make glass bottles with the glass blower]
    • Jewelry crafting
How super exciting would that be?!
    Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! :mrgreen::mrgreen:

I would like to think this sounds like a Rec Center since it has a lot of crafts. Remember we don't know what's inside yet.

Wow this thread will soon be up to 100 pages long.

    Some of them are collectible.

I also noticed that they show up as seashells when using the collection helper. At least they did in my game a few times. I was using the collection helper to look for shells and sometimes I went to a spot highlighted as having sea shells and all I found was a diving gnome and I was able to collect him. Also they can be in treasure chests you find while diving.

In the new images, it shows male sims wearing metal and leather necklaces and bracelets [too cool! 8)] so I think it is a kiln/forge combined that can be used for both glass blowing and metal work, like a blacksmith. This would be absolutely fantastic!!:mrgreen:

kate I've done silversmithing in real life. You use metal while making jewelry and you don't need a forge.

All you need is some refined metal - such as silver or whatever you want to work with - and you put pieces of it into a ceramic bowl that is very heat resistant and heat it. You only melt the bit you need. All that is necessary is a small fire or blow torch.

One simple and ancient way of making small objects is to carve a shape into a cuttlefish shell and pouring the molten metal into it. When it solidifies you can polish it and use it as a pendant or charm or whatever you want it for.

If you want to refine ores then you would need something more elaborate.

Or you can buy metal wire or small sheets of metal in varying thicknesses and use wire cutters or a jewelers saw to cut out the shapes you want and then file and polish it until you have made the thing. Then all you have to do is assemble it.

The bit I don't like is soldering as I wear glasses and the safety gear makes it hard to see what I'm doing so I don't do much of it.

I hope it's U-Shaped stairs. I mean they made the L-Shaped, might as well make the U. :P

Oh, and I'm worried about the L-shaped stairs. I'm afraid that it's going to be open underneath only. I would like it surrounded by walls.

I hope this can be done. I hope it's not like the spiral stairs. I fear.. *sniff*

So there's definite glass-blowing, and I had suspected the mysterious object on the end table to be a gnome but didn't want to get too excited! I'm so glad it was confirmed!!

And the woman walking up the stairs definitely has new earrings on, and a bracelet (and the confirmed necklace)- but I can't tell if the bracelet is new or not (I like to think it is, since the purpose of the screen shot is to display the new content) and I'm very pleased they are keeping both genders in mind with accessory making or a part of the set (worst case scenario- but still new accessories). I really hope we can use the gems we collect- that would be my favorite part, and the major selling point for me personally.

I also hope all of the age groups were included in the ability to wear something from this crafting workstation. Kids could have adorable accessories- especially as they are definitely lacking in that area (girls earrings for instance). And I'd LOVE if they could make crowns or anything for the kids to play pretend with (crowns, new toys, wands, piggy banks, action figures, and if metal working is included -as is seems to with the male's necklace- a sling shot!)I realize not ALL of that would be included, buts something along those lines for each age group's 'special' quality.Maybe teens could give little gifts to girlfriends or boyfriends, or to increase the likely hood of them being successful in becoming 'steady', maybe promise rings too. And I'd love a little something you could do for prom! I'd DIE if you were able to create special rings to ask your lover to become engaged. What could be more romantic than a custom made wedding ring!

I really want perfume making in the game, but as some others have stated, I'd rather it be a separate station on it's own. I want the perfume station to be very interactive and special, and the process similar to the mixology and the nectar making skills in one. The quality of the ingredients and the different items (flowers, fruit, herbs new/existing collectibles) to create a certain quality as well- and the mixology skill to come in to play with whatever "recipe" you learn has different effects on the active sim and the sims around. Attracted, repulsed, intrigued, day brightened, etc- new and old moodlets could be inspired by the perfumes. I don't want it to be some simplified work bench where you make something like "cheap perfume", "medium perfume" and "expensive perfume" and the quality obviously based on your skill level.

Sorry for the long side track. I just am in love with perfume creation IRL but don't have the resources or money to get into it.. so I would so very much like to live vicariously through my sims. ;)
    Simply,
    Brittany (bwillisucf)

I am so complete at this moment because I wanted so badly that the photo be shown clearly and we can talk about how we will play it in our game.... ahh dude this is freakin electric I LOVE IT...A GLASSBLOWING DEVICE THAT CAN DO SO MANY FREAKIN THINGS IS FREAKIN AWESOME AND COOL ....I couldn't wait to get home after training my last class just to get on this freakin computer and see what is said now that we know what it is....I wonder now is it more to this venue? if so then what? I really believe it will be a venue somewhat like an street art festival feel to it...this can be used at many of the festival lots and the boardwalks that we have already in game as well as the venue we have that sell the veggies while the kids sell lemonade and give free advice wow sooo freakin electric I am really beside myself at this point.

I wonder will glassblowing be something that your Sim can do automatically or will it be based on your skills and what skills would be needed to do it?

Also what if we get this tomorrow  trust me i know it's not February yet but what if??... if not, then my guess is the 6th of February next Thursday but the reason I asked this is because everything about this venue been a little awkward and done really odd and so different then any other store item so hey maybe they might get even more strange and make it available on the last Thursday of January and calling it February :?:.. at this point I wouldn't put anything pass ANYONE THAT HAS ANYTHING TO TO DO WITH THIS MYSTERIOUS STORE GADGET

and lastly what if that object is a gnome made of glass or we could make glass gnomes and this time when you kick it... it cuts you :!: foot bleeding in game :P ...time for the gnomes to start fighting back...the revenge of the gnomes "glass style" freakin wicked mannn awesomeness to the 5th power.
