I can help with the second Issue this happens to me on every build so far. I have to delete all the floor tiles on the floor above, and then replace them, repaint the ceiling, and it should be fixed then. I think it occurs when you drag out or edit walls after a room is kinda created.
Hope this helps out.
OH.. And Like I said in the other forum, Great builds everyone !!
Thanks, I will try this as soon as I get back in game tomorrow! And yes, everyone is creating some amazing builds!
I thought I could maybe get underneath and "tile" the ceiling, but it only lets me get certain holes this way. I can't get them all because trying to get the camera to look up like this next to walls and such keeps making it skip away from where I need it to be. And it won't "click" in certain places, so it's like there's nothing above it, which there is. Of course, all the ceiling tiles they offer are very ornate which won't work for what I need anyway, and I can't get an exact match for the default ceiling. I can't figure out why the tiles are there from above but missing from below anyway?
You can make a good tile for ceilings by editing a floor tile. Find the Simple Flooring tile (first one under the stone section, black marble). Put it across the ceiling, then go into Create-a-Style and click on the ceiling. Then change the section you are picked textures from to Paint. Find a paint style you like and then paint it white or whatever color you prefer.
Dumb me, I never thought to use a floor tile on the ceiling. Guess I thought it would be upside down or change the floor above, or something. Thanks!

I had never even thought to try to tile the ceilings and one day by accident, I was holding a floor tile while zoomed in and hit shift on accident, and then the whole ceiling changed color. So I discovered it by happy accident . Another great floor tile type to use on ceilings that doesn't take much editing is a lot of the wood section.

Thanks Brett. I had dragged out the walls after the room was created. I will relay the floor above.
Thanks Kat. It is the cellar arch. I won't use it.
Edit: Brett, your tip solved my problem. Next time I build, I will redo all the floors before I start furnishing the building. (I hope your are feeling better.)

Awesome I am glad that I could help you out .
You also might want to go around your building on the outside, and look for stray tiles; Tiles that get laid on the outside of buildings. You can see them as roof tiles but not floor tiles on the other side (the complete opposite of the ones on the inside). Some of them can be really hard to delete (depending on how close to the edge of you lot they are) cause you can't do it in camera mode, but they are easy to see this way.
Now that I appear have caught the building and sharing bug, I thought it was time to ask a couple of 'simple' questions that have bugged me fora while and I'm just not finding answers too (maybe they are too simple and I'm being very dense! )
#1: How can I be certain I am only using EA content when in build/buy? The icons don't seem to be always accurate, a lot of CC shows the Store icon not the CC star.
#2: Related, in that if I can't tell from the icons alone ... if I use the 'Run without custom content' option in the Launcher will that exclude all and only 3rd Party content (both package and Sims3pack) or will it also EA Store content?
#3: Not really build related, but considering how much Store content I've bought I would like to be able to tell when I'm creating or clothing my Sims which item I'm using - so, how can I see the name (and description?) of the CAS items in game?

Hi Adrian, so glad to see we've brought another over to the dark side.
In answer to your questions:
1) No completely sure way except to have none in game. :? If I am unsure, I alt + tab out of the game and search the store for the item. Otherwise when you are done with a build and export it from the game, you can then use custard to check it. You can download the program here: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=390235
2) If you check that box it WILL remove all store content as well.
3) Can't be done as far as I know. Item names and descriptions don't transfer into CAS so you would actually have to find the item in store to get its name and description. Maybe somebody else has a better answer? :x
Hope I helped even a little. Can't wait to see your next build!
First Edition is a fully functioning bookstore rabbit hole to use in Majix Cove (or wherever!). It also includes a coffee bar, computer/internet area, and playground. Registers are fully functioning as well if you don't want to use the rabbit hole option. I built it on a 30x40 and plan to put it at 10 Side St. across from the school. I hope you guys enjoy playing with it.

Thank you, those were the answers I was kind of expecting. It is a pity they didn't create a way to properly differentiate EA and 3rd party content. I have quite a lot of CC which hasn't caused me any problems (touch wood!) apart from one mod I forgot to update but if I'm building for the Exchange I'd rather not require anyone to download something they haven't decided to add to the game themselves.
I already use CUSTARD to check downloads, as you say, it's a very good tool for making sure you get what you're expecting.
I'm thinking I might focus on creating pubs and bars - a venue I'm very familiar with - and create a little studio devoted to the these fine British institutions
First Edition Bookstore! Fabulous! Beautiful! And lots of other embarrassingly complimentary adjectives!
I'm also really pleased to see that the multiple registers work so it looks like a real shop with a suitable number of assistants.
Another newbie question ... how did you make it a rabbithole? I'm assuming you've not used one of the rabbithole rugs, do you just set the venue type?

I am really glad you are building with us now too Adrian; so time for another session of, Brett's story time . I was going to build a pub in honor of you once I got done with my other projects ( a little secret I was keeping to myself ). Something to honor our DD leader with. I am not sure that I would have done it proper justice though. I have never been outside of the States and have only ever seen true pubs on tv. Also I would have used pics for reference. So anyways, I am really glad you are going to be building us the Bars and Pubs, it just feels RIGHT having a true Englishman building these fine institutes for us .
Oh and to answer your question. To make a rabbit hole work you have to put the original rabbit hole building in the basement and build stairs done to it so the Sims can still use the door. Somehow the top of the building gets cut off, I am guessing, I haven't tried it yet. I am thinking about download the rabbit hole rugs mod though, that seems pretty awesome.
and About your third question earlier, does it give you the name of an item in CAS if you hover over it long enough? I can't remember. I will check later on, if no one knows. Edit:Okay nope it doesn't show the names if you hover over them.
Meg: You're bookstore looks so nice! I love the way you use the electric signs.
I finished building my elixir shop today. It ended up being a complete magic shop and a lot bigger than I had planned. I'm going to play-test it tomorrow and hopefully post it then too.

WOW! That is an awesome looking building! I love all the glass walls. I recognize the windows I think, but what door is that that fits so well with them? Can't wait to see this in game!

Thank you Brett, it's good to be here ... but could be dangerous, I may never get anything else done!
And that is such a kind thought, creating a pub for me.
To be honest, a lot of our "pubs" are turning into "bars", quite a different beast to my mind, probably influenced by American brand and lifestyle marketing.
That said, on my few visits to North America I did find some acceptable bars, most often attached to a craft or micro-brewery. (Now that could be a good build project; creating a pub attached with a brewery attached ... wonder if there are suitable objects in The Sims 3 ...?)
So, I'm sure there are plenty of good examples of American bars you could get inspiration from and I know you would create something special; that even English Sims would enjoy! :-)
And, finally, thanks for the heads-up on the basement rabbithole trick. Guess that's why CC builders prefer to use the 'rugs', altogether simpler and more elegant

EA broke something with the update I'm guessing. So just for now add in " width=700 " after the .jpg <-- or whatever extension your picture is and that should re-size it accordingly. Jen gave me that little nugget of wisdom

Brett got it Adrian, just put the rabbit hole in the basement making sure the front "doors" of the RH building are accessible. I have heard of the RH rugs, but it is CC and so I won't use them for building so I passed on downloading them. If you get them, will you let me know how they work and if they work well? Thanks

Very nice!
I used the greenhouse roof pieces for the first time recently and love the open feel they give to a building, and you have used those pieces so well to give the shop a very attractive look.
Meg: I had actually downloaded the rugs some time ago but have never had the urge to create a new rabbithole ... yet
And, if I may be so bold, if you're happy with it, could update the Majix Cove lot list to add the Dealers Arms at 10 Sim Lane, pretty please
Ooh, that is a lovely room! It really has the traditional Japanese feel that I've seen in numerous films (there was a time, many years ago, when I was really into Kurosawa). Good luck with the contest.
it is not nearly done as far as decorating (though I'm pretty sure I'm done with that dining room ), or colors, but this will be my entry to luv's contest. Thank you Jen for the idea
Nick:WOW man that looks GREAT!! I love the addition you added to the side, great use of the the windows and the glass roof pieces. I am glad that I just got the Greenhouse set and the Magic sets, so I can download this right away .
Meg: I just have to say again, I am loving your bookstore !! EDIT 3: WOW what did you just sneak in above me . It is looking really good so far, Luv is going to have her hands full judging this one.
Jen: WOW....just WOW  !! It took my eyes a sec to adjust after looking at your pic to realize the other was a real image. I was thinking " why did she put two of almost the same image up" for a split sec, you got that perfect. It looks Amazing, Can't wait to see the rest of it .
So Hey while we are kinda talking about html coding on the forum. Might I suggest that on the first few post you change the web addresses so that they open up in a new tab.
the rest remains the same how you do it the < a href= and all that. Ugh does any of that even make since, sorry if it is confusing what I mean. I just think with so many links some people might hate to have to hit back all the time or right click to open new tabs.
Edit:Wait this is probably better. Here is a template I use to make all my links. I copy it then just past in the link and edit what I want it to say. I don't know if this helps or not, just quote this and copy the part under here it if it does:
<a href="LINK" target="_blank">TEXT</a>
Edit 2:I will even do it for you , if you want me to, Just let me know.
Sneak peak of the VERY beginnings of my new house, for Luv's contest:
Jen I LOVE it!! Gimme! Can't wait to see the whole thing when you are finished... or before you're finished or whenever. Just post more beautiful pics!

All done for my posts! That didn't even occur to me. I may have my browser set to always open links in a new browser because I never even noticed! Thanks!!!
Thanks all for the good comments, that's literally all I have done so far lol. And have to change the wallpaper, it's CAP even though it had a store icon :x . Hoping to have some time today and tomorrow to work on it more. But after seeing Meg's sneak peak - OMG!!! I may as well not bother!!! LOL
Hey Nick - Meg's got your Old Penn Plantation in the lot list (gorgeous build) but when I dl it it flags as CC. It shows as "Lot" in the launcher but the thumbnail is a CC image of a column, and Custard shows the whole file as an "Object". Eep! I have to go through now and see what CC it installed. Any chance you could reupload it CC-free? Or is there a lot?

Thanks, I will try this as soon as I get back in game tomorrow! And yes, everyone is creating some amazing builds!

it is not nearly done as far as decorating (though I'm pretty sure I'm done with that dining room
Meg: I just have to say again, I am loving your bookstore
Jen: WOW....just WOW  !! It took my eyes a sec to adjust after looking at your pic to realize the other was a real image. I was thinking " why did she put two of almost the same image up" for a split sec, you got that perfect. It looks Amazing, Can't wait to see the rest of it
So Hey while we are kinda talking about html coding on the forum. Might I suggest that on the first few post you change the web addresses so that they open up in a new tab.
So for instance Jen has this:
<a href="http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/685670.page">thread dedicated to the Daily Deal (DD) rotations</a>
But instead use this:
<a href="http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/685670.page"target="_blank">thread dedicated to the Daily Deal (DD) rotations</a>
the difference is:
target="_blank"
after the web address part:
so it would look like this:
the rest remains the same how you do it the < a href= and all that.
<a href="LINK" target="_blank">TEXT</a>
Edit 2:I will even do it for you
Jen I LOVE it!!
LOL
