Option to access saved sims?

I cannot find anywhere to get back to my saved sims, either to 'tweak' or to upload. The only sims I can upload are in household form in the edit town function.
Either I am being blind, or this is something that should be addressed.
EDIT I discover you can share when you 'change appearance' in a mirror. Seems complex, but there you are.
