What settings are you running your game at? According to MTS your GPU is not recommended for anything beyond Supernatural: http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS3_System_Requirements

My settings are set pretty high. I'll turn them down and see if that helps. Thanks for the help. :)

I don't have the game installed yet so I don't know if this will happen to me, but I've been following this thread because this bug is so **** baffling and there seems -so far- to be no common cause. I would probably rule out system specs at this point as being the culprit due to the fact that those affected have extremely varied systems - some great and others not so much.

You may consider asking if those affected are playing while logged in.. and whether or not they have memories enabled (and the latter only because I'm curious if the Sim trying to generate a memory about "Went to a Resort" is causing a hang).

    1. Are you using any Custom Content or mods (If so, please remove all mods. I need it tested on a vanilla game or EA will say it's mod.

Issue happened with mods running the first time. I then removed all mods and tried two different resorts and the same issue happened. Running vanilla had the freezing issue.

    2. Which Patch Level are you at ?

    1.55

    3. Did you start a new game or are you playing an existing ones ?

    Fresh new neighborhood created 6/25/2013

    4. Did you transfer an existing Sim over or are they new/Pre-Made ?

I saved a Sim into the bin and moved them into Isla Paradiso from the bin.

    5. What town are you currently playing ? EA or Custom ?

    EAs Isla Paradiso.

    6. What is your Operating System (Mac, XP, Vista, Win 7) ?

    Windows 7 64 bit

    7. Do you have the download or DVD Version of the game ?

    DVD

    8. Are you reporting for the Uni-World, Home-World or WA-World ?

    Home world

Could you also please say what your system has:

    1. Graphic card

    GeForce GTX 460

    2. RAM

    8 GB

    3. CPU

    AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 620 Processor

    And some extra questions please:
    1. Which resort(s) are a problem for you

Tried all three - all three freeze

    2. Are all Sims affected? Or is it just a certain one?

In a two person household I alternated who tried to check in and both had the problem. I tried Check In and Check in With and both froze.

    7. disc
    8. home world

Tried to check in to the modern resort twice resulting in a complete freeze. Will try other resorts/options tonight after work. Thank you for taking a look at this issue!

Quoted my info from earlier--I'm basically windows illiterate (sorry), I only bought this computer to play The Sims because I gave up trying to play on my iMac (too many issues) I think my CPU is: AMD A8-4500M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics
    Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 7640G
    RAM: 4 GB

I've done a few tests to answer the new questions:

    And some extra questions please:
    1. Which resort(s) are a problem for you
    2. Are all Sims affected? Or is it just a certain one?

I loaded a new game in Isla Paradiso and selected a pre-made household. Both sims in that household were able to check into all three resorts individually, no issues.

Then I loaded my previous save of Isla Paradiso where I had experienced the freezing issue. This appears to be a "problem sim" the game has frozen twice while trying to check into the modern resort and once into the run-down resort. Have not tried the Spanish resort with my "problem sim" yet.

Another question for those of you with this bug (because I'm brainstorming on this ;P ): Were there actually Sims working at the counters of the resorts when you clicked "Check In"? I ask because I've seen a few threads where people said that nobody was working the counters at their resorts. Perhaps, and this is just more speculation, but if one was to click on the resort to check in when there was no NPC there to actually check them in, it could cause the freeze?

I haven't experienced this bug in my own game. I also use the Register mod, which may be helping, but I am not sure if that's the solution or not.

blaknwite has sent me his Sim and I tried it out. It's very reproducible and I got the freezing on my game when I had no issues before.

So to me it's either Sim or household related. I think we can safely rule out mods and specs

For those of you who say it's all Sims, does that mean it's all Sims in your household or did you try switching the active household and tried with that ?

    1. Yes, then no
    2. 1.55
    3. New Game
    4. New Sim
    5. Island Paradise World
    6. Windows 7 Ultimate, 64
    7. Origin Download
    8 Home

    1. GeForce GTX 660 ti
    2. 16
    3. Intel I7-2600, 3.40G

Happens at the Starter Resort, and all other resorts that came with the game. Have never successfully checked my Sim in anywhere. Also, I do not try to check in with no one at the front desk.

Additionally, when my Sim attempts to work the front desk after the desk clerk is a no show, people will approach to check in, but the cue will immediately drop and this cycle will repeat 4 or 5 times with the potential guest giving up and just going to the pool or whatever.

There is a NPC to check the sims in but when you click check in and the NPC starts typing or like moves to do the check in it freezes.

    And some extra questions please:
    1. Which resort(s) are a problem for you? The Spanish and the futuristic one
    2. Are all Sims affected? Or is it just a certain one? So far I tested, it´s the Medina-Guy (could it be of interest, that he has an own resort on a remote island?)

--> I started a new game and moved an old family to IP. They own a resort, too, have different things in their inventories, but they don´t have this issue. Checking in works finde.

    1. CC is from the Store and exchange though currently no exchange-CC is being used for this world; I have Overwatch and Story Progression both updated to the current patch.
    2. 1.55
    3. I moved my Sim family into Isla Paradiso - so current?
    4. Existing Sim family was moved into the town from another town.
    5. EA - Isla Paradiso
    6. Windows 7, HP laptop
    7. Downloaded from Origin
    8. Home? (I have no clue)

Could you also please say what your system has:
    1. Graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 6750M
    2. RAM: 8GB
    3. CPU: Intel Core i5-2410M 2.3 GHz

    And some extra questions please:
    1. I built my own resort and have trouble checking people in (grrr!)
    2. Currently I've only tried my Sim family, with one of them manning the front desk. I'll try hiring someone to do the front desk.
Edit: The glitch only seems to be happening when one of my own SIms is operating the desk, it's fine when employees do it.

In my experience there has never been an NPC waiting at the front desk. When I clicked on the empty front desk eventually an NPC walked over and started checking my sims in. With my "problem sim" my game froze every time at that point but with a pre-made household they were able to check in with no issues once the NPC showed up.

In my case, no one was at the desk when my sim arrived at the resort, and had to wait a couple minutes for someone to come to the desk. As soon the check-in person arrived and started to help my sim, that's when the freeze occurs.

Agreed, the problem arose when the person at check in started talking. I'm exploring it more, and will edit this post with my observations and details of my computer.

    EDIT:
    1. Are you using any Custom Content or mods (If so, please remove all mods. I need it tested on a vanilla game or EA will say it's mod). Nope, just store content, but with or without, the family of my choice does not work.

    2. Which Patch Level are you at ? 1.55, the most up to date version

    3. Did you start a new game or are you playing an existing ones ?

Alright, I started with a family that has been living in Riverview, and moved them. Checked in the family to the "medium" resort. It freezed.

Then I saved a copy of their file, and checked in two of the young adults instead of the whole family. It freezed. I have yet to check with the Father or brother or individuals

Then I took a premade sim file with no skills or experiences and played with them. Worked fine except for the lags that are now effecting my CAW ... I also created a family then moved them in ... works fine except for the lags.

I'm starting to wonder whether a simple skill or previous job stops the family from working properly.

    4. Did you transfer an existing Sim over or are they new/Pre-Made ?

    Existing = freezes
    new/Pre-made = no freeze

    5. What town are you currently playing ? EA or Custom ? Isla Paradiso

    6. What is your Operating System (Mac, XP, Vista, Win 7) ? Windows 8

    7. Do you have the download or DVD Version of the game ? Download

    8. Are you reporting for the Uni-World, Home-World or WA-World ? Home world

Could you also please say what your system has:
    1. Graphic card, Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
    2. RAM, 8GB
    3. CPU, @2.40GHz, Intel(R) Core i7

    And some extra questions please:
    1. Which resort(s) are a problem for you? ALL
    2. Are all Sims affected? Or is it just a certain one? Answered above

I will continue to explore this issue with my specific family, and other sims to test different theories out.

Hi - I'm posting my info mostly to bump the topic and see if a solution can be found.

    1. No CC
    2. most recent
    3. Existing (I'm going to try creating a new game once I can decide on an idea)
    4. Transferred an existing sim I made
    5. I started this file with my sim in Barnacle Bay then she moved to Isla Paradiso.
    6. Win 7
    7. Downloaded
    8. Are you reporting for the Uni-World, Home-World or WA-World ? uhhhhhhhh, I'm not sure what that means.

Could you also please say what your system has:
    1. Graphic card ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series
    2. RAM 9GB
    3. Intel Core i7 CPU

    And some extra questions please:
    1. All resorts are affected, including the one I own.
    2. I've only tried one sim so far but going to try my other family shortly.

My game also froze when I tried to have my mermaid check into the Hobart. My mermaid lives there, and the game tried to treat her as a visiting guest. Which could possibly explain the freezing part. :D
