Let's see those boardwalks!!

OK guys - I suck at building, but decided to try my hand at creating a boardwalk.... it's still in the development stages so no need to point out that the buildings aren't painted yet. ;)

Left to right - coffee/pastry shop, bar, bathrooms

LLAMA transport system, open eating/grilling area, photobooth, arcade section. I was thinking of those stands with painted celebrities where you get your picture taken - so there are two booths for that - one with the Abominable Snowman and the other with a dancing crocodile. The arcade area facing the other way has arcade games. Then a few vending machines/snowcone maker.

Last area - there is an open section where I was thinking of those outdoor showers - most beaches have them - but I don't have that set. :( But I'm thinking soon, so.... Then the last building, which I originally intended to make into a pseudo-restaurant, but then decided perhaps a casino would be better? Haven't decided.

Again - I haven't done any decorating yet so cut me some slack. :) But opinions/suggestions would be helpful. And yes, I'm going to put some kind of roping/fencing around the pier, with cut-outs for fishing.

Now let me see some of YOUR boardwalks!!! I need inspiration. :)

And you think you're bad at building? why? That looks amazing and you haven't even finished it yet! Will you be sharing it on the exchange? I'd love to add it to my beaches, I actually am terrible at building.

It just... doesn't look quite right - my builds never do - not to me anyway lol

I'd be happy to share it - it would be awesome to see it working in someone else's world!

Surreal, you do not suck at buildings. They look great to me, they just need some kind of siding to be complete.

Both boardwalks posted here look great.

Omg! What a wonderful idea! I seriously just *finished* a world that I made and I had a small beach area that I didn't know what to do with! I'm totally making a boardwalk!!

Ok so you guys included a bar, pastry shop, arcade...what else can I include?

BTW your boardwalk looks AMAZING surreal! What about a pretty area with a buffet for that last building? Then your sims would be able to use it for a party venue :)

Depending on how large you wanted to get, you could do a skating rink or a bowling alley... or a theatre if you have that set. Makes me think of Chelsea Piers. :) I thought about making that last building smaller and waiting for IP and make it a surfing/sporting goods store.

I really wish we could create stores.... maybe have a multi-purpose commercial lot? Dunno - this is the second-ever commercial lot I've made and I'm not terribly familiar with how they work... didn't know a buffet makes them a venue. Buffet it is, then! Thanks. :)

And thanks for the comments, you guys! I'm really glad you like it.

For commercial lots, you can basically label them with any type of lot (visitors only, beach, etc.) and they'll still work the same. So you can add a buffet table to any lot without it being a certain type of lot. Does that make sense? Just the other day I added a wedding area in my park (which included the buffet table) and it's still just a normal park :)

I know it won't be exactly what you're looking for, but you could make part of it a consignment store using surfboards/sporting goods for decoration, making it look like a surfing/sporting goods store!

OOh! A separate skating rink would look great! If it's big enough, I might be able to include a bowling alley! I'm firing up my game right now to get started! Thanks for giving me some great ideas!!

I don't think it looks bad, it looks really good :)

I like to give my boardwalks a sort of "once-was" rundown feel, with a bit of tackiness too. Sometimes I'll add some stuff that looks a little more modern as though they're in the process of revamping it. I guess that's what comes from years of holidays to Blackpool with it's piers :P

you can always add one of the dance floors from late night or seasons or a performance stage from Showtime. Or a small gym

I think an outdoor club on a boardwalk would be pretty cool. You could set it as a poolside club so people will be in their swim wear :)

Oh, nice one about making it a poolside club - people showing up in their swimwear would work. :)

    Well, it's finished...

    Screenshot-86_zpsd8413d04.jpg

Even the barista and bartender showed up! haha I play tested it a bit - everything seems to be working fine - people are showing up, playing pool, etc.

Not happy with the disco thingie (The Blue Oyster as I call it) - I kind of changed my mind halfway through and it shows - will have to work on the deco - but otherwise, I'm pretty pleased!! ::Pats self on back::

Oh, no CC, although there may be the stray store item here and there.

Definitely downloading this as soon as I get IP installed -- this is great!

I want to start experimenting with the building placement feature in the patch. I also did more work on my Asian-themed resort -- the Asian themed pool was absolutely perfect.

I love how it turned out! I gave it a rec! I have been working on mine all day! haha it's not even close to being finished! However, I will share one picture. Let me know what you think Surreal! I used yours as a sort of guide. I am horrible with making roofs, so I had to play around a bit! Mine turned out to be more of a pier/boardwalk hybrid!

That is so much better!!! I love the shape of it! So much more interesting looking - great job! I hate the roof tool and yes, I suck with roofs as well. :p

Wow - thanks! I hope you'll share pictures of your resort - I'd like to see it. :)

@Sage_Blossom - oh, I'm so sorry... is it a lot of stuff? I could maybe try a base game version - or a version with the EPs you have.

I love yours a lot better than mine! I always tend to overdo everything! I always go with "bigger is better" and it always ends up looking big, bulky and bad!

I'm downloading yours to place in Sunset Valley :) I think my simmies will love it!

I love all the boardwalks on this thread!

I'm in the UK & only just got IP and have now decided that what sunset valley really needs is a boardwalk so have been looking for inspiration.
