I've now completely finished the landscaping of Cladbridge-on-Stowe Now its on to building the dozen remaining houses, detailing and testing the world.
Some pics of the last section and the world overall:
The mill building will be in the world but I'm leaving the water wheel out of it. This is mainly because I want Cladbridge-on-Stowe to be CC-free for the people who do not have or want the custom content.
Of course, there is nothing stopping you from downloading and placing the wheel on your own initiative. It is Hekate999's static version mentioned by Reachsims above (although the animated one is based on Hekate999's model anyway).
^^^ Same here, Michelle! I love this world so very much! Seeing the image of the Sim riding the bicycle down that rural route, I thought, "That's ME!"
Thanks for the info on the water wheel, DoubleMedion. I will definitely be adding that to this beautiful place. The images are just wonderful but I know they never convey the real beauty of the world. In spite of your talent for capturing wonderful images, I know they only hint at the real thing. This is another stunning world you've built. I am most grateful.
I will definitely be keeping an eye on this and looking forward to when you're finished. I'm from Buckinghamshire and much of our villages look like this. THANK YOU!
I am playing Rinn Fada (Ireland) and GlenDonnach (Scotland)... so this'll be a great addition.
Wonderful new pictures! I am SO excited to play! You have done such a beautiful job! Thank you so much! I love the petrol station and the gorgeous views!
So I've been testing rigorously for the last week to catch out mistakes and whatnot. All the while I've been bulking up on the families to make a nice save file. If all things go as smoothly as they have been then I plan on uploading both the world and the save file on MONDAY :-D
oh wow, I love this! so lovely.
My family is English... at least, one side, and I spent a good part of my childhood there and miss it a lot. I will really appreciate this world.
I know it's going to be wonderful because I simply love your Scottish world, GlenDonnach. Thank you, Doublemedion, for another beautiful playground. I'll have to take a wee break from what I'm currently doing to play as soon as it's ready. I'm sure to run into some of my friends there. I'm most grateful!
The exchange is not working at the moment so I've put the world file on mediafire for the time being. http://www.mediafire.com/?d2111nvhkw559uc
Be sure to read the info on the first post. A link to the save file is also there.
I can hardly wait to check it out! I'll stop by and comment as soon as I get an hour to look through it. It might be a day or two. Thank you a thousand time for this, my friend!
For some reason I can't install, it says to be sure I am up to date and I AM up to date, I even patched to the last patch, thing I didn't want to do until bugs were sorted out, just to try this world... so... not sure what to do now :?
I also meet your requirements for the EP's (the only ones I don't own yet are University and Island Paradise)
I'm very sorry MJ but I have no idea how to solve your problem. The world should definitely work so long as you have the latest patch installed.
I'm starting to think there may be something very wrong with the world as a file. It has failed twice to upload to the exchange but it is installed and works fine on my PC.
Have you installed both the world and the save file into the separate folders?
There seem to be a lot of people having issues with loading to the exchange right now, so it may not be a problem with the world file. I plan to download, but I will wait a couple days just to make sure. Thanks for making this world, it really fills a need for me!
Everything is where it should be, but I can't install the world. Launcher does its thing it seems, takes its sweet time to load the bar, and when I think it's done it says Installation failed. Make sure you have the lastest software.
I'll search around and see if there's any fix, but I'm honestly lost
Michelle and Doublemedion - I have a little bit of information that might help. I had no problem downloading and installing Cladbridge-on-Stowe but I had to clean up the file a little bit before installing. I have not had a chance to load the game, nor play, and won't have a chance for a few days.
Here's one thing that needs cleaning up: Opening up the world file in CUSTARD, we should see only two items, the world and the world's image. This Sims3.Pack shows that a dirty item is unintentionally included in the world file, namely Arezzo Bathroom Counter made by Angela of TSR. It's a lovely counter and Angela makes beautiful content but we all make mistakes. This counter has something wrong with it because it also attaches itself to Sims uploaded to the Exchange, like that old doll did some years back.
Now I removed all four superfluous items from the Cladbridge-on-Stowe Sims3.Pack leaving only the world and its image to install in my game. The installation was successful. For proof of this counter being dirty see this one post. I figure, if our creator actually used this counter and I have to replace some counters in the game, I'm okay with that. I just like to have a clean game. I do use some third party content but it's only installed through the Mods/Packages folder, never my clunky troublesome Launcher.
I encourage one and all to use CUSTARD before you upload anything and never install anything in your game unless you have checked it through CUSTARD, even if the creator said it was already done. It's your game and it needs to be protected from other's mistakes, oversights, etc...
EDITED TO ADD: I never just jump into playing a new world. I explore it first from Edit Town mode. While I do this, if I notice something important missing, like a bridge or just anything, I quit the game, uninstall the world and reinstall another version with some item or other the creator included in the upload. But after doing this... I put the 3PCC item in my Mods folder with a new name, like Pattern for GlenDonnach, for example. Once I've added this item with its new name to my Mods folder, I remove the original from the DCBackup file. You'll need CUSTARD or some other program do this and to access the exact file numbers.
I have seen that counter in buy mode in my game but I do not remember downloading it from anywhere. My guess is that it must have been part of another world which I have installed some time ago (since I only download worlds from the exchange).
Oddly, it has always had the "sims 3 store" icon next to. I assumed it was included in Hidden Springs or something so I thought nothing of it. I have not used it in any of my lots so it should not be in the world. I'm very sorry I did not notice this problem earlier.
I will download this Custard program and check it out now. Bear with me...
