Welcome to my new showcase thread! I do have a blog site but I know sometimes peeps like to stay on this site so I thought I'd start a thread to showcase my work and to offer to take some requests when i'm not busy too.

My RL name is Fiona and I live in Warwickshire in the United Kingdom. To most people Warwickshire is famous for Warwick Castle, William Shakespeare and cute thatched cottages. The picture below was taken locally. I grew up near London and went to the same college as George Michael. He also used to hang out in a bar called 92's which he co-owned with a friend of mine. I was more into Duran Duran back then though!

Phoenix_Cottage,_Dunchurch_-_geograph.org.uk_-_747839.jpg

I have four children, the eldest is 23 and the youngest is 5. I love cooking, especially Italian food and I love hosting parties so lots of my friends have celebrated their birthdays at my house. I play the piano (badly) and I also like photography and architecture which is what drew me into playing sims in the first place. My "sim wish" would be the ability to build rounded walls, and my "sim ambition" is to create a world...I've tried, many times, but they always look terrible so I delete them!

My favourite place in the world is a tiny little village in Scotland where I take my children on holiday. It inspired me to build my set of Mayfair Island lots and households last year. It has a white sandy beach and is surrounded by mountains and it's so isolated that we often have the entire beach to ourselves, apart from the odd sheep as they wander wild and often cross the beach and my five year old finds that really funny and shouts "Sheep on the Beach!". We rent a 17th century cottage with no TV signal and no internet and I love to sit on the patio reading a good book and watching the tide come in and out, and my kids running back and forth to the beach, it is so peaceful that it is my little slice of heaven.

Here is a little picture of my view when I am at the cottage...

In 2012 after a three week holiday in Scotland I was inspired to build some lots that reminded me of the places I had visited. I got so carried away that I ended up populating a whole island! The World I was using is Mayfair Island which was created by the extremely gifted and artistically talented Rflong7 Sadly, Mayfair Island is no longer available on the exchange but you can download it HERE The lots I have built have information in the lot description on where to place them on the Island so you can rebuild the village I built quite easily.

I've now completed four competition entries since I became active online and while I was looking for inspiration for a new build I came up with a cool idea for a new building contest? I'm keeping it under wraps for now but I'll be planning it behind the scenes

There are many links to building tips around but I have found a lot of them difficult to follow, picture heavy, over-complicated, unclear etc. So I have decided to share any links I find that actually taught me how to do something new (That is the T&T - Tried and Tested) and I hope it will help other beginners like myself to learn new techniques and improve our building skills.

Holy smokes girl!! This thread knocks the socks off ANYTHING else I've ever seen

Way to go Dippy

Have I told you recently how much I luuurve your builds??!! You ever need a hand (not that mine is anywhere near as good as yours) - just give me a shout - I'd love to corroborate with you on a build

Have bookmarked this amazing thread and will continue to be a stalker - the silent type normally - unless something really hits me for six, then you'll hear me yodeling from the rooftops! LOL!

Cheers sweetheart - and not that you need it - but good luck with this thread!

Thank you both so much for your lovely feedback! You two are of my hero's on this site so your praise is very flattering indeed!

Kaz - Thanks for the praise and especially for the hugs! I would love to do a co-build with you sometime! You are an awesome builder and I would be proud to team up with you anytime :D

itguyinsc - I only found this section a few days ago but I have been beavering away collecting links in a word doc and making banners...I'm a medical secretary in RL so organizatiion is key :-)

Very proud of myself today, was messing around and finally managed to build a garage attached to a house with foundations. I've always been nervous to try constrainFloorElevation cheats but I managed to get it to work so hopefully my builds will get better :-)

Dippy, congratulations on opening your showcase!!:mrgreen: It all looks wonderful. I already have your whole studio rec'd, but I just wanted to stop by and reiterate how much I like you builds.

Can't tell what I think of the French Chateau yet but I'm very excited to see more.

The craftsman looks AMAZING!! When can my sims move in...?

It was your picture that inspired me, so I built it with you in mind...and your perfect house contest. Sneak preview on page 1 of this thread but the landscaping has changed so I'll have to update the cover shots.

    3a5k-house-plan-front_jpg_900x675q85.jpg

    3a5l-house-plan-floorplan-1_jpg_650x864q85.jpg

I followed the plans too, but put the basement stairs in the garage as I wanted to turn it into more of a man cave. The kitchen is not the same as I started building it on a smaller plot so had to reduce the footprint. I've spent days on this one, it's been a total labour of love though and I really enjoyed building it.

I'm re-landscaping in it's final location (15 Summer Hill Court) as for the contest I had to be able to place it in Sunset Valley and the lot is slightly larger than the one I built it on.

Thanks for wrecking my studio, I still have three pages of yours left to do, but I will "Total" it soon

    *Jumps in surprise*!!!!!

Kaz, you really must stop sneaking up on me, I nearly jumped out of my skin

I just tried to playtest it but when I moved Tess Tester in it came up with a challenge and told me a squatter had moved in and left a mess, I clicked ignore challenge but when it loaded all the furniture was gone!

This happened to me yesterday but that time the game told me I'd built something on a sacred burial ground - sarn challenges are messing up my builds!

I'm probably going to build two versions of the Chateaux becasue Booknerd wants the interior to be contemporary but I'd like to build one that is more of a legacy lot, full of antiques that have been passed down the generations so watch this space as it is next on my list!

*big hugs* back at you 8)

Challenges?? What are these challenges you speak of?? But yikes - not sure if I actually want to know!!

Sounds nearly as bad as the time I had finished a build and put my tester in - only to have her burn half the house down trying to upgrade the fireplace!! Thankfully since then I have discovered these wonderful things called "mods" (Twallan's Debug Enabler and Master Controller are my favourites)- talk about time savers!! :)

I love the idea of the legacy lot for the Chateau.. but then I'm an old-fashioned kind of girl anyway.. but I digress.. I will be wanting it regardless of its "state of dress" - it is simply gorgeous architecture!

The Maybeck is very nice! :) Lovely landscaping work! The outdoor living/dining area looks good with the outdoor kitchen and eating area and then the pool and the hot tub nearby. Very nice furnishing of the interior. The shades of colours that you used in the bedrooms are very nice. The kitchen eating nook would be such a nice place for our Sims to enjoy breakfast, with the sunshine coming in through the nearby windows. It is a lovely home! A great exterior design, and a very nice place to enjoy being at home whether inside or outdoors.
