You are right Hawk, he is ignoring every argument he doesn't like. I had a good laugh at the sock-poster too. Syntax and dictus are very near Azn's style and you know what a sockpuppet is on forums? An alter ego that is created to add weight to the main accounts arguments, either through drawing attention/sympathy as an antagonist or adding their voice when the opposition is too great in numbers. I wont say the two in this discussion are the same people necessarily, but the name of the supportive poster made me laugh loudly.

Let's just ignore him from now on. It's never productive to argue with fanatics.

I didn't catch that, but you pointing out the relevance of the name did make me laugh.
they are definitely two different people, though. Evilsocklady knows how to use quotation marks.

I can understands everyone's frustration about this greenhouse, but come on they are fixing the issue. What are we fighting for? :( all we can do is wait. Heck Seasons has glitches we need address but we also have to wait for a patch. so what is the difference in this situation. no programmer is perfect and we shouldn't hold anyone to be so. What I'm trying to say is "Can we all just get along"

While the testing for the new roof pieces was quite successful, the process for a quick re-install for venues ran into a few road bumps. However, we are still looking to have something out very soon.

I know “soon” isn't as specific as anyone wants to hear (myself included) but we’re continuing to work on this issue diligently and I’ll let you know as soon as I know something more specific.

Hi SimGuruCopeland! Can't speak for anyone else, but if TeamSim has the roof issues resolved (wow, thank you!! yay!!), then personally I'd say your job is done and TeamSim has no responsibility to... help players tear down our current greenhouses in preparation for a re-download. But that's just me... I knew it was broken, a fix was in the works, and so I didn't build a thousand of 'em all over the place.

Thanks very much for weatherizing the greenhouse!!!! Winter seems like it will be a blast (haven't played it yet because of the greenhouse issue). Difficult to say this... but with the presence of winter PLUS a non-functioning greenhouse, I figured getting the gardening sim's produce up to perfect etc before they die of old age, seems like it would require that I be more obsessively-compulsively fixiated on "simtime" than would be fun for me.

    THANKS AGAIN, YAY!!

It's honestly not worth the expense of energy. When you do point out facts that show instances where his points are wrong, he will normally just ignore it and move on to another side of the argument, slightly twist his point or move on to another argument completely.

Just let him rant and rave about how he's right and others are wrong and have your discussions without him is the best advice.

It's best not to discuss anything if either party can't follow this:

I agree with you completely. I tried but could not help myself.

Well another store patch has arrived but still no fixed greenhouse. It's around noon on Thursday at the EA tower let us hope and pray we can finally put this issue to bed today.

OMG. I'm going batty with people saying "well it was advertised as a greenhouse so of COURSE we should assume roofs were free premium content."

I don't think people are saying that. I simply expect a roof to work like a roof, there is nothing special about that function.

With regard to the rest of your post I can imagine that some of it happened just like you portrayed it, but something went faulty along the line. Such an incident could be used to identify potential problems, maybe lack of communication between teams or departments, but most businesses aren't clever enough to see that they profit from such an analysis. They rather pretend that everything was just super.

:-( Well this is disappointing. Hope they get the fix to us soon. I will practice my patience and remember that it is better to have a slower fix that works without breaking other things than a fast fix that does more damage.

On the brighter side it is possible that something in that fix will pave the way for the greenhouse final fix. Sometimes it is necessary to do a series of upgrades to get the system to a point at which it can handle the thing you want to do. I hope that makes sense to you. Sometimes I get into computer talk mode and forget for a while that people require something other than a series of 100111. In the meantime I will be patient.

Apparently it will be fixed today. See the third post in this thread.

SimGuruKelly states that they will be releasing instructions shortly and asks everyone wait until then to download the "new" greenhouse.

Thanks EA Stuffed again. I just downloaded the Fixed Greenhouse followed instructions to the letter. Went to the game a message came up stating some items could not be loaded have been replaced. I had about five variety of grapes four of each plus other plants all up to perfect for nectar. I had these grapes planted in the red pot that come with the Greenhouse, bcause I found that if you used the pots they could plant without using "moveobjects on". Well the pots where replaced with World Globes and all the plants have disappeared. Thanks EA I don't think I will bother anymore.

I just went back into my game to see what I could salvage the dancing Sunflowers have been replaced with little Sunflowers in pots. I decided I would check the community lot so I found a suitable block and guess what all the red pots have been replaced with world globes and the Sunflowers are now little Sunflowers in pots. Nearly four weeks and you still can't get it right. I guess I will have to wait around for some modder to fix up your stuff up. At least you are consistent anything you do never works properly.

PS I decided I was not going to let it beat me. I had to go into the launcher and uninstall each item in the Stones Throw Greenhouse individually then close the launcher and open it again this happened about 3 times before it was all gone. Then I went into my game and deleted all the world globes the little sunflowers in pots and there was a couple columns that had to be deleted. Now I have to replant and rebuild from scratch. I sure hope it works. I will be very disappointed if it doesn't.

Hi everyone - Just wanted to tell everyone I bought this product & saw this thread after the purchase. A little slow I know & I wasn't too happy.
I was horrified to see snow inside of the green house in my game.
I've been following this thread because I was hoping for a fix too but judging from the post before mine, the fix is out & its not worked (if I'm reading it right)
So I wanted to share this: Before that fix from the store was released I went to the Nraas site & looked up all the threads on winterizing the green house.
One of the modders there had created a temporary fix, which you can find here.
    http://nraas.wikispaces.com/message/view/Chatterbox/58342210?o=40#58513578
I tried it - its working for me. Only thing is in the winter, I've had to redo the process because toward the end of winter I guess the cold or something did something to it & when I tried to go down a level on the greenhouse I couldn't, so I just repeated the process (placing the roof tiles & replacing the roof decorations) & it worked again.
The plants still are dormant during the winter though. An answer hasn't been found for that problem yet to my knowledge.
But just wanted to share this so you all can play your game until something better comes along. Cheers & good luck. :)
P.S. Really think since the store is aware of the problem with this item, they should put a notice on it letting buyers know that this problem exists so they know what they are purchasing before they buy it. Good business practice !
OR offer a better one (one that withstands the elements)for half price.

I am sorry if I mislead you. To keep the snow out you have to build like a normal room and put a flat roof on that then the Greenhouse roof on top which makes the flat roof invisible and it keeps the weather out. I am still in fall so I don't know about keeping snow out I am told it does. It is supposed to stop the plants going dormant in winter. They still have not overcome the problem of some plants looking fosty, they say they are working on it. My main problem was installing it over previous vrsion which I ovrcome. As I said I built my new Greenhouse and it does keep the rain out.

Crud! I just bought this TODAY! I guess I have learned a lesson - always check the forums before buying anything from the store! I'll try to find the 'fix', but it seems like that had issues too.

On top of all the regular issues with the Greenhouse, my game is now crashing. I will try adding a flat roof and then adding the glass roof to see if that helps winterize it. I will remember to put the moveobjects on cheat in order to move the plants in.

Well, I'm really bummed. I was hoping it would work like the Sims 2 greenhouse did. Oh well.

I downloaded the greenhouse again from the link provided. Deleted all previous greenhouse content. Deleted any greenhouse lots placed in my town. Then, installed the new download. After adding the flat roof as another member suggested, I no longer have 'weather' in my greenhouse. Yay! Unfortunately, plants are still dormant in winter. What's strange is that some are green and tendable, others remain dormant. I don't really understand. My peppers (green and chile) both are not dormant. All my trees seem to be dormant. Any of the special plants like Flame fruit or death flower are all dormant. I am wondering if this download was to fix the dormant problem. I am thinking not.

Ah so this is what the forums looks like, I reported the issue after my mom had bought me the sim points for the green house set in the Sims 3 Store. I hope there will be a fix soon so my sims can have there perfect food throughout the winter time lol. Um... I can completely clueless how this forum thing works, first time here. I have yet another issue to report, how would I go about doing that being that when I ask the help line they always send me here and I don't know how to use this zone... so if anyone could tell me where to report my issues please tell me thanks <3

Hi and welcome! The fix was already done: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/0/623591.page#9935706

For other issues - it depends what it is as to where you need to place it. Eg. if it relates to an EP then you can make a new thread in the relevant EP section, a general technical issue would go in the tech forum etc. You can also Google search to see if the same thing has been posted by someone else (the search facility here is not too great).

You'll notice this is dated 12/07 - the fix is complete. The first post explains everything.

The plants appear dormant, but are not. Sometimes when you first plant something, it appears dormant. Put some veggies in the composter, use the composter and you should be good. You need to place ceiling tiles - they are invisible once you place the greenhouse roof pieces. You won't get any weather in the greenhouse after you do this.

You'll need planters or turn on the moveobjects cheat to plant inside it though.

Apparently some plants appear dormant due to a texture that has something to do with the base game and they area apparently working on sorting that out. If you click on one of these apparently dormant plants they will say tend garden or harvest - not dormant which is what they say if you have one outside, or inside with no roof tiles or a piece of wall missing.
