I think you have completely missed my point.
To make it more clear: I wonder what's the true reason for this thread because 208 friends already in your list is more than enough for gift swapping!
You can only gift 5 items per day anyway but I guess you reckon with receiving loads of gifts instead.

When you send a gift, you can put your preference in the attached note - gift or elixir.
