Little Lavender Lovely is beautifully done. It looks so spacious for such a tiny house. Rec'd.

Also, I don't know if you've seen it but faith_Andhope is hosting a competition with a colour of your choice as the theme. You might be interested in it as this one looks so good with the lavender colour scheme throughout.

Thank you walkingstick! Yes, I saw that Faith was hosting a new competition, and I may just have to enter that one. And thank you for the rec! :)

Lavender has to be one of the trickiest colors to work with, and you have found a really nice balance!

    Lovely interiors too!

PLUMALICIOUS POTPOURRI PARADISE, 40X40 residential lot, 10/30/12

    Download Link

Just submitted this build in FaithandHope's "Color My World" contest where the challenge was to build a house in a style from her list and to use one main color and a less dominant second color. I chose a modern/contemporary style and colors from the "plum" family and accented in shades of grey. My lot name is rather goofy but we get extra bonus points for a creative name.

This large elegant and contemporary family home has a little bit of everything and is perfect for the artistic family who also has a love of reading. It’s splattered throughout with a potpourri of plum colors, accented in neutral grey tones. You’ll notice the glitz and glam décor as soon as you step foot in the foyer with the crystal chandeliers and the baby grand piano as a focal point.

    The main floor consists of:
    - 4 bedrooms (master suite, guest bedroom, girls nursery and boys bedroom)
    - 4 baths (main bath, guest room bath, master bath and basement bath)
    - large open kitchen and dining room
    - separate living room with large picture windows and a fireplace
    - 2-story library with an upper reading loft
    - a spacious office accessed through the library
    - laundry room

The basement floor is all about fun and entertainment and features:
    - a workout room
    - another bathroom
    - large game room complete with it’s own bar and bar style seating and a gallery of art wall
    - movie theater (this is the best room in the basement as it seats 7, and also contains a snack counter and beverage fridge—how convenient is that to not have to trudge all the way up to the kitchen for your drinks and popcorn?).

The detached 2-car garage leads into the artist’s studio which also has a separate entrance and has big windows for natural sunlight.

The backyard is beautifully landscaped and boasts a large pool with a fountain, a separate children’s slide pool and play area and an outdoor kitchen. There are also three private patios, each with a soothing fountain--an enclosed one off the library, one off the guest bedroom and the other one off the master suite bathroom. The master suite patio also has a covered hot tub.

What a great title for your build! :) Really great build! Thanks for descibing to us all that your build contains. Very well done use of the plum colour shades, complemented and enhanced well by the grey. Very grand entrance to be met with a chandalier, and a grand piano! Nicely done pool area. Great work on all the details of each room and each level. Very fashionable build :)

Thanks Rose. I had the word plumalicious stuck in my head the whole time, so had to find a way to use it in my lot name. I tend to get very wordy and detailed in my descriptions, so I'm happy that you are interested in that much detail. (I am a very detail oriented person, so I can't help it!) Have a great day!

Wow, thanks so much for recommending my whole studio imoger, I am very appreciative. Landscaping my builds have always been a challenge for me because I never know where to start with it and I don't think I'm very good at it. But thank you for your nice comments. :-)

Glad you like! I like doing moderns, but I tend to get too cluttery and it's hard for me to stick to the minimalist style. I was glad that I chose that color scheme though since it went so well with the contemporary look. Thx again for the rec!

Thank you so much Yanti!!! I think I will stay away from the purple color scheme for awhile, as my last 3 builds have featured those colors, lol. :D

Thank you so much for the lovely comments Terry. I can't wait to see all the builds in that contest as it's so fun to see what people can create. And thank you for the friend request. Hope you have a nice day too.

Hi, Sandrelle! I think you and I both started actually sharing creations around the same time. I had never paid much attention to the forums before then, either, lol.

You have a lot of beautiful builds, and some neat ideas I may have to borrow, like the shelved closet in your Blue Ridge nursery. I like all the bright colors in Casa de la Playa, and I still love your Palo Verde. Your community lots are awesome, too.

Oh, and all those cute 10 x 10 lots you’ve done; I can’t help but be impressed! I think the smallest I’ve managed is 20 x 20, and only because it was a starter.

As far as your Plumalicious Potpourri (love the name, btw; and the tiling around the pool does like a bit like scattered potpourri to me!), I think it’s gorgeous! I’m a fan of plum shades paired with grey to begin with, but combined with the modern architecture it gives it a very posh vibe. Love the library with the little reading loft (that's where I'd spend most of my time! ), as well as that fab movie theater. Already rec’d and faved. :)

Why, thank you, thank you Star! I didn't realize that we started uploading to the Exchange around the same time. I've always liked all of your builds too. Yeah, I'm not too good on starters, I can never manage to stay within the budget (kind of like in RL, lol). I appreciate all of your nice comments, as I never know if others will like what I build--I am my worst critic. Thanks again! :)

CARRINGTON COURT CONDOS, 34x29 Residential apartment lot, 11/15/12

    Download Link

    More Pictures

I've made apartment complexes before but just for my own fun and never tried the whole room marker thing because I never took the time to learn about it. So this was my first time building an apartment that Sims can actually live in. This was created for Seascape's House Hunters competition (modeled after the HGTV House Hunters TV show), so the post is rather lengthy as I wanted to include a story with it. We had to build a 1 bedroom apartment/condo with specific criteria for under $100,000.

    My entry:

This is a newly renovated luxury condo on the 11th floor at Carrington Court Condos (formerly the historic Breach House--the oldest luxury apartment building in Bridgeport). Real estate developer Grayson Carrington purchased the building for a gonga price from the former owners of Breach House. In its earlier days it was one of the premier places to live. However, with the age of the building and in today’s economy, the owners could no longer keep up with maintaining it and were struggling to retain their tenants. So they were forced to sell before it became a foreclosure property; their loss but Grayson Carrington’s gain. Tenants at Breach House were typically more mature and wealthy, but Grayson’s vision was aimed at attracting a younger, more hip resident who values luxury and amenities but also affordability.

His goal was to make it feel new and updated, so he gutted the building and converted the former 2 bedroom apartments into larger more spacious 1 bedroom condos with an open floor plan. Designed with luxury in mind, all units have marble flooring, marble countertops, marble fireplaces, high end appliances, top of the line light fixtures and spacious floor plans. This particular unit is decorated in neutral colors of blacks, tans and whites and intended to attract the female gender with its pops of pink. It’s the perfect place for a young bachelorette to call home and spacious enough for her to entertain her friends. Comes completely furnished and priced to sell at only $65,203. All you have to do is move in. Hurry, at this new price reduction, this unit will not be available for long.

    Floor Plan:

    Screenshot-10.jpg

Although his aim was to give the building a more trendy and luxurious feel, he also wanted to blend some of the old with the new so he incorporated decorative crown molding, baseboards and wall paneling throughout to keep some of the building’s historic flair.

    Screenshot-14.jpg

The main living area boasts floor to ceiling windows to take advantage of the water views and is decorated with a mix of sophistication and elegance, but with a contemporary feel.

    Screenshot-21.jpg

    Screenshot-16.jpg

The bedrooms are spacious and have views of the city.

    Screenshot-34.jpg

    Screenshot-35.jpg

The galley kitchens have windows to bring in more light and have extra seating at the large breakfast bar. In addition to marble countertops, every kitchen includes subway tiled backsplashes.

    Screenshot-18.jpg

    Screenshot-19.jpg

Dining rooms are open and spacious and come with a bar for entertaining.

    Screenshot-20.jpg

The former Breach House apartments did not have balconies, but with its proximity to the water, Grayson Carrington wanted homeowners to be able to take in the lovely water views and fresh ocean air so he built a small balcony on to every condo.

    Screenshot-24.jpg Screenshot-25.jpg

In addition to the spacious main living areas, each unit has popular conveniences for condo dwellers, with a powder room, a laundry room, and a den.

    Screenshot-31.jpg Screenshot-30.jpg

    Screenshot-27.jpg

The luxurious 4 pc master bath with attached walk-in closet will make you feel like you’re staying in an elegant 5-star hotel. And there’s even a window!

    Screenshot-37.jpg

    Screenshot-38.jpg

Apartments and condos tend to lack storage space, so Grayson designed the floor plan to include abundant storage options, starting with built-in bookcases and entertainment cabinets around the fireplace.

    Screenshot-15a.jpg Screenshot-15.jpg

And built-in cabinets in the bedroom and closet.

    Screenshot-36.jpg Screenshot-39.jpg

And there’s even a large storage room off the balcony to store all those items that don’t belong inside. Don’t need that much storage? It can be easily renovated to make the den larger.

    Screenshot-x.jpg

For a more attractive curb appeal, Grayson spruced up the exterior with new landscaping, including a lush garden with a fountain.

    Screenshot.jpg Screenshot-3.jpg Screenshot-2.jpg

Guests will be wowed when they enter the expansive 2-story lobby. New elevators were installed, along with a fountain and the walls and floors are adorned with beautiful marble for a more modern and sleek look.

    Screenshot-5.jpg Screenshot-6.jpg Screenshot0.jpg

    Hallways are attractive and spacious.

    Screenshot-22.jpg Screenshot-23.jpg

The former Breach House building did not have any amenities, so the basement was converted to a high-tech fitness center, complete with his and her saunas, showers and bathrooms. Also in the basement, there’s a place to entertain your guests with an expansive game room equipped with a pool table, foosball and the latest video games.

    Screenshot-41.jpg

    Screenshot-48.jpg Screenshot-49.jpg

A highlight in the basement is the enormous fish aquarium with views from the game room and the fitness center.

    Screenshot-43.jpg

The His and Her bathrooms are accessed through the gym.
