Can I get rid of it and go back to 1.36? If yes, how?
If not, then is there a way to manually patch myself up to just 1.36 after uninstalling and reinstalling the game? If yes, how?
I just want to go back to a time where all these awful glitches didn't happen to me

I'm one of the ones that's been having problems with complete shutdowns. I can't say for sure that it's fixed it, but it seems to have. This is all such a shame because I was so looking fowards to Supernatural and the new stuff that the patch brought. Guess we'll just have to wait for the patch that fixes the patch. :?
but I can't do system restore ^^; (I keep forgetting to back up, but I have my external hd so.. that's why I forget, and I forget to get cd's for this)
so if there were a way to do so without restoring.
mine likes to just not respond. Or lag.
I think you're thinking of system recovery. Recovery and restore are two totally different things. Windows automatically creates restore points for system restore, so you didn't have to do anything. Do a search for system restore, it'll tell you all about it and how to do it.
I'm not that much of a pc guru as my mum thinks I am >>;
it won't affect my external? I can take it off though when I do it..
The game does say it's 1.36 now, but I suspect that something in the game isn't, because although I removed the 1.38 mods from Twallan and replaced them with his 1.36 mods, I now get a message saying that my mods aren't compatible with my game level and might cause it to crash.
I tried to play anyway, with a brand new neighborhood, but the game freezes right after I select a household and try to enter it.
So either his old mods are just defective now all of a sudden, or the system restore doesn't really really set it back to 1.36, since there's probably some documents or scripts lurking in the EA folder that makes it remember that it's 1.38. The system restore doesn't change the documents, unfortunately.
It was a nice idea, though, and I'm sad it didn't work.
Any other ideas?
That's...unsettling...
Edit: the message looks like this:
Honestly I wish we could pick which patch-level we wanted to patch up to... then I might just reinstall the ENTIRE game, patch up to 1.36, and then refuse to allow further updates until this fiasco is fixed.
Did you delete your cache files after you moved the mods folder?
Yeah, you should disconnect the external before doing the system restore.
I think...I'm just going to view this all as a sign that I shouldn't play any more Sims for now. I should concentrate on my studies.
When they finally come up with a new patch that resolves the issues, I'll come back. Until then, goodbye.
