It can also be annoying when I have lined up a great picture and one suddenly pops up. You can modify it so that you only see friends or relatives of the family. I started with that mod when I moved out the first kid in my 50 Foals Challenge. I have added others since. I can't even remember what the base game is. The story progression mod also makes it more likely that they will have babies. In my opinion it enhances the game. Story Progression alone will give you the updates. Story progression will push non player characters to get jobs, to have relationships, sometimes to get married or break up or have babies. It will also push them to progress in their jobs or gain skills. I get updates about so and so reaching level 3 of cooking and things like that. With EA all non player people may have a job but they never progress or gain skills or anything like that.
I also have Story Progression Population and Story Progression Relationship. They are add ons to the main mod Story Progression. Relationship adds to it even more by having family members visit one another (I get messages about Grace's sisters visiting each other all the time) or having a boyfriend or girlfriend go spend time with the other. Population helps to balance and influence the population of your town. In my opinion it greatly enhances the game.
I also have Master Controller and Master Controller Cheats. They just give you greater control over the game. You can read all the types of interactions on the site. I don't even know most of them. I added DebugEnabler because I had an IF that stopped coming to life and was just a doll. DebugEnabler can help you fix glitches and I got the doll to come to life again. I added Overwatch when I started having a lot of lagging, freezing and crashing. It helps to clean up your game and fix errors. It works well. I had another 50 Foal Challenge I had to quit because a cat froze while dying and I couldn't do anything. It doesn't allow you to move, access edit town or a whole range of things if someone is dying. So I finally quit it when I talked to EA and they said it couldn't be fixed. Well today I opened up that old file for the first time in many months so I could upload the founding stallion I had created who existed only in that save file. Well, heck Overwatch or DebugEnabler whichever it was fixed the dying cat problem! As soon as I started playing everything was just fine! Wish I'd known about the mods way back then and I wouldn't have had to abandon that challenge.
The twins' birthday was coming up soon so Cedric worked with Jeremy on learning how to talk. Unfortunately he had not had a good day with his boss before doing it.
Naomi helped with teaching her little brother Brennan how to walk.
The day of their birthday Grace and Cedric threw a party. Everyone in the family and Quinn's boyfriend all came. Unfortunately for some reason most of them left after eating the hot dogs Cedric had barbecued before the twins blew out their candles. It left just the main family to celebrate with them but that was fine. Jeremy was first since he was a few minutes older.
Cedric lifted him up so he could blow out the candles while Quinn, Grace and Naomi cheered.

He's a little cross eyed but he cheered his own birthday after aging up. He gained the Neat trait.
Grace had gone to take care of Joshua. Sometimes walking him in the stroller calmed him down so she walked back and forth while Cedric lifted up Brennan for his cake.
He blew out his candles.
Then he put him down with a kiss while Naomi and Quinn blew noise makers.
Jeremy left his cake slice to come over and cheer for his twin.
Brennan gained the snob trait and he is more interested in proper clothes than casual clothes. He also needs glasses.

Brennan isn't wearing his glasses yet because I wanted to show that his eyes aren't dark like I thought when he was a toddler. They look to be grayish lavender.
As everyone was going to get their cake a new guest arrived for the party.
Dante came right on over to join the party.

He even helped himself to a piece of cake. Grace cheered like she aways does when she sees one of her parents. (That's why she looks stooped over. She's in the middle of a cheer.)
I was going to do another post but looking at my pictures I can do a second really short one or I can go play and try to resolve the issue I'm having right now. I think it's a glitch, but I'm not sure. Right now it leaves the story a little incomplete. Frankly I'm having a lot of issues with this game. For a while it was crashing as soon as I opened it. It seems to be a Mac related issue from what I read in the Mac forums. I hope I can solve it.

I was going to post an update but I don't have a lot of pictures. I have been having a lot of trouble with this one because I have only one heir and she's nearly an adult now. No one has any logic skill to make a potion and the game file has ceased to regenerate stones of any kind in the locations where rainbow gems can be found. So I am looking for ways to get Isaiah real with no cheats. Once I solve that I'll be able to post some more.
Here's whatcha do: give someone the fast learner LTR and sit them down with the three logic books. Refill their needs only when they stop to do them themselves, and then if they're tired get them some coffee! After that, if they have work that might not go through so smoothly. The cheat to get a rainbow gem would be buydebug after the normal testingCheatsEnabled true and go to the rocks and gems section to place a rainbow gem generator on one single place on the map. They don't generate often, but it's a start. Otherwise you might have to populate the town with Baptiste's until another heir comes along. There is also the alchemy station, where you can make a Fountain of Youth potion until she can have her IF come alive...just sayin
Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately when I wrote the rules to my Legacy I said no methods of extending life. And since Grace is now 2 days away from elder I don't think she can have any more babies. I am trying to work with a dog that has level 10 hunting skill. I'll try the logic also. I guess if Naomi has to make him real after she reaches young adulthood that would not be the worst. Just annoying. I didn't want to use a cheat but I did have to place a couple gem generators. I mean if the game won't generate them then what can I do? There are none that are specifically rainbow gem generators though.
You know what kills me the absolute most? One day I sent out Cinnamon to hunt and she came back with a rainbow gem. Did I save? No. Did it crash? Yes. Did she find another gem? No. Did she die? Yep. What a pain in my rear.
That stinks. Maybe you can create a new twist to the story giving a reason why her IF couldn't age up until after adulthood or something like that. I hope Cinnamon rests in peace.
Quinn went over to visit her new boyfriend, Jack, one night after school. Even though it was a school night her parents said it was okay as long as she was home by curfew and they got all their homework done.
Jack had already told Quinn that his mother was expecting a new baby. He said it wasn't surprising since they flirted like a couple high schoolers all the time.
Jack and his sister Claire were usually unimpressed by their parent's flirting.
Shortly after Quinn arrived that night, however, Jack's mother went into labor.
Quinn and Jack agreed to watch Claire so that they could go to the hospital. Quinn and Jack were good and did their homework while Claire had some juice.
Then Jack told Claire to go to bed and he and Quinn put their homework away ...

As she was leaving she ran into Jack's parents arriving home with a new baby girl. She congratulated them and practically ran out the door so she would not be late.
When she arrived home she found that everyone was asleep except her grandmother who was watching TV
and her mother who was busy working on her new book.
She quickly went to bed. The next morning as he was heading out to his car pool Cedric saw a strange being wandering around the neighborhood.

Afterward Grace read a bedtime story to Jeremy.
One evening as they were getting ready for dinner the family had a surprise visitor.
Apparently it was Pongo's time to go.
The Grim Reaper showed his affection for dogs ...
before coaxing him to the great beyond.
Then he disappeared.
Naturally the family was very upset about Pongo's death.

Quinn was in the room too but she slept through all of it.

Spooky Day arrived and Brennan was practicing different costume ideas. Jeremy just ignored him and ate his cereal.
Brennan finally settled on being a tiger.
Jeremy decided to be a cow plant.
He stopped to brush Cinnamon before they went out trick or treating.
Naomi decided to be a cat.
Quinn went as a princess and Jack went with them as a masked scuba diver. The night was a little extra special by the appearance of a real unicorn.
Ooh, einhorn! (unicorn in german) I wonder if any of them developed the "Adopt A Unicorn" LTW. It seems most of their kids take after their mommy. Keep up the updates, and I hope that you guys can find a rainbow gem.
I have been having a lot of issues with the game crashing as soon as I open it. I was just about to give up and say it was unsalvageable and that I'd have to start over with a new family. But I decided to give it one more try. It worked. In fact everything was going great. Suddenly I found a rainbow gem. I was able to make Naomi's IF real. It looked like everything that was going wrong was now right. I saved immediately after the transformation process ended. Good thing.
Then it crashed again. An "exception raised error." I have been trying for over an hour to get it to open. It either immediately freezes or I get the exception raised error. For anyone who is a Mac user you'll be familiar with those. It's a persistent problem with Macs that EA doesn't care to fix.
I have already determined that I might need to move the family out of the town so I can make a new save file. Unfortunately if I can't get it to run for even a minute I can't move the family. I'll try again tomorrow.
If anyone out there still checks this and has advice I'd appreciate it.
Now that Brennan and Jeremy were in school they were making a very big impression on their teachers. Before long Grace and Cedric found themselves in a parent teacher meeting. The teachers told them that both boys showed incredible talent in music and art and that they felt their school could not sufficiently meet their needs. They recommended that the boys go to Le Fromage Art School. Grace and Cedric left dazed with brochures to a boarding school.
"What should we do?" Cedric asked on the way back home.
"I don't know," Grace said. "On one hand I don't like the idea of sending our boys so far away. On the other hand I want to give them every opportunity we can."
"Yes, that is exactly what I am thinking."
After a lot of talking about it they decided to present the ideas to the twins. They wanted to know how they would feel about being sent to a boarding school. Brennan and Jeremy were both excited about the idea of being able to study music and art more in depth. They were a little nervous about the idea of being so far from home, but knowing that they could be together overrode that. In the end they all came to the decision to enroll Brennan and Jeremy at the school. Cedric sat down at the computer to do it.

Not much happened in the time that the boys waited to go to school. There was a snow day which Naomi used to continue her search for a rainbow gem.

When the day came Cedric and Grace gave the boys hugs and reminders to call as well as reassurance that they would call also. Jeremy was the first to bravely walk out to the car.

Brennan quickly followed.
A few weeks later as the family was just adjusting to the twins being gone Grace got a call from her sister. She found out that her eldest sister, Darlene, had lost her husband David. The news of the death of her brother-in-law shook Grace. Even though she was much younger than her two sisters she was still shocked at her sister's loss.
Only a few days later it was Quinn's birthday.
She was looking forward to adulthood. Grace and Cedric could hardly believe that they had a daughter old enough to be an adult.
Quinn made a wish before blowing out her candles.
Everyone cheered for her.
Then she aged up.
The next day was time for her graduation.
As the family was heading to the car they saw that someone had built a Grim Reaper snowman near the graveyards in the back. "Probably my father," Grace observed. "He always had a sense of humor like that."
Then the whole family piled into the car to go to City Hall.
After her graduation Quinn tossed her diploma.
Oh Ohh! I do! Sorry, I haven't been keeping up on any of my stories so thats an excuse. I've just been so busy, but I do like that there's another slot or two open for more children if needed. But since I guess one of the children found a rainbow gem, that'll work out. I hope that they live happily ever after, and I work with a Mac too. It crashes on me constantly so after a big event I have to save right away. But idk if EA will fix it Best of luck to you
Quinn's boyfriend, Jack, became an adult not long after she did. His parents had four babies and toddlers at home so he moved out into his own home as soon as he could. Quinn knew she wanted to spend her life with him so when she went to visit him one evening she wasted no time asking him if he would marry her.
He was thrilled and quickly said yes.
They were both so happy about the idea of getting married that they started kissing and making out.
All alone in the house with no parents to question what they were doing and with being newly engaged their passion quickly led them to his bedroom.

Afterwards Quinn fell asleep with Jack, not thinking about how her parents might wonder if she didn't come home all night.
Meanwhile back at the house Grace had adopted a new puppy following the loss of Pongo. Rather than a dalmatian this time she adopted a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel. The puppy was so tiny that he could hardly be seen under the snow as he came toward the house.
Grace named him Blaze.

Having a new puppy to play with cheered her up and made the loss of Pongo not as bad.
When she woke up Quinn realized that she had spent the whole night at Jack's and should hurry home so her parents wouldn't worry. She gave him a kiss good-bye before rushing out. They knew it wouldn't be for long since it wasSnowflake Day and her parents were throwing a party today that he had been invited to.
With all the preparation going on Quinn was able to slip in without any fuss although she did notice her mother giving her looks even after the guests started to arrive.

Just as people were getting ready to open the gifts there was suddenly an unexpected guest.
Apparently it was Cinnamon's time to go with the Grim Reaper.
He gave her a hug ...
and then she floated up into the portal to the great beyond.
Then the Grim disappeared in a puff of smoke.
The loss of Cinnamon spoiled the whole party as the family was overcome with grief over the loss of their beloved pet.
Jack is a compassionate Sim so he felt compelled to come over and comfort Naomi when he saw her crying over Cinnamon's death.
Thinking perhaps to lighten the gloom that had descended on the party Quinn decided to announce the news that she and Jack were engaged now. Jack watched a little nervously, not sure of the reaction of his soon-to-be mother-in-law. Grace was surprised.
But she was also very excited and happy for her eldest daughter.

Despite her happiness over their engagement a little while later Quinn was crying over Cinnamon's death as well. Jack was good at comforting her.
Jack gave her some flowers to help cheer her up.
The party broke up not long afterward. The family was still despondent over the sudden death of their dog and it made it difficult to celebrate Snowflake Day.
poor Cinnamon, I don't play with pets to often just because it is a hassle at times. Love this legacy, I lost mine which was a bummer, but started a homeless one so will see how that goes.

I use Twallan's mod Story Progression. It gives me little updates every so often. It's almost like a gossip column. It can also be annoying when I have lined up a great picture and one suddenly pops up. You can modify it so that you only see friends or relatives of the family. I started with that mod when I moved out the first kid in my 50 Foals Challenge. I have added others since. I can't even remember what the base game is. The story progression mod also makes it more likely that they will have babies. In my opinion it enhances the game. Which versions of the mod do you have to do this?
Story Progression alone will give you the updates. Story progression will push non player characters to get jobs, to have relationships, sometimes to get married or break up or have babies. It will also push them to progress in their jobs or gain skills. I get updates about so and so reaching level 3 of cooking and things like that. With EA all non player people may have a job but they never progress or gain skills or anything like that.
I also have Story Progression Population and Story Progression Relationship. They are add ons to the main mod Story Progression. Relationship adds to it even more by having family members visit one another (I get messages about Grace's sisters visiting each other all the time) or having a boyfriend or girlfriend go spend time with the other. Population helps to balance and influence the population of your town. In my opinion it greatly enhances the game.
I also have Master Controller and Master Controller Cheats. They just give you greater control over the game. You can read all the types of interactions on the site. I don't even know most of them. I added DebugEnabler because I had an IF that stopped coming to life and was just a doll. DebugEnabler can help you fix glitches and I got the doll to come to life again. I added Overwatch when I started having a lot of lagging, freezing and crashing. It helps to clean up your game and fix errors. It works well. I had another 50 Foal Challenge I had to quit because a cat froze while dying and I couldn't do anything. It doesn't allow you to move, access edit town or a whole range of things if someone is dying. So I finally quit it when I talked to EA and they said it couldn't be fixed. Well today I opened up that old file for the first time in many months so I could upload the founding stallion I had created who existed only in that save file. Well, heck Overwatch or DebugEnabler whichever it was fixed the dying cat problem! As soon as I started playing everything was just fine! Wish I'd known about the mods way back then and I wouldn't have had to abandon that challenge.

Naomi helped with teaching her little brother Brennan how to walk.
The day of their birthday Grace and Cedric threw a party. Everyone in the family and Quinn's boyfriend all came. Unfortunately for some reason most of them left after eating the hot dogs Cedric had barbecued before the twins blew out their candles. It left just the main family to celebrate with them but that was fine. Jeremy was first since he was a few minutes older.
Cedric lifted him up so he could blow out the candles while Quinn, Grace and Naomi cheered.

He's a little cross eyed but he cheered his own birthday after aging up. He gained the Neat trait.
Grace had gone to take care of Joshua. Sometimes walking him in the stroller calmed him down so she walked back and forth while Cedric lifted up Brennan for his cake.
He blew out his candles.
Then he put him down with a kiss while Naomi and Quinn blew noise makers.
Jeremy left his cake slice to come over and cheer for his twin.
Brennan gained the snob trait and he is more interested in proper clothes than casual clothes. He also needs glasses.

Brennan isn't wearing his glasses yet because I wanted to show that his eyes aren't dark like I thought when he was a toddler. They look to be grayish lavender.
As everyone was going to get their cake a new guest arrived for the party.
Dante came right on over to join the party.

He even helped himself to a piece of cake. Grace cheered like she aways does when she sees one of her parents. (That's why she looks stooped over. She's in the middle of a cheer.)

You know what kills me the absolute most? One day I sent out Cinnamon to hunt and she came back with a rainbow gem. Did I save? No. Did it crash? Yes. Did she find another gem? No. Did she die? Yep. What a pain in my rear.

Jack had already told Quinn that his mother was expecting a new baby. He said it wasn't surprising since they flirted like a couple high schoolers all the time.
Jack and his sister Claire were usually unimpressed by their parent's flirting.
Shortly after Quinn arrived that night, however, Jack's mother went into labor.
Quinn and Jack agreed to watch Claire so that they could go to the hospital. Quinn and Jack were good and did their homework while Claire had some juice.
Then Jack told Claire to go to bed and he and Quinn put their homework away ...

As she was leaving she ran into Jack's parents arriving home with a new baby girl. She congratulated them and practically ran out the door so she would not be late.
When she arrived home she found that everyone was asleep except her grandmother who was watching TV
and her mother who was busy working on her new book.
She quickly went to bed. The next morning as he was heading out to his car pool Cedric saw a strange being wandering around the neighborhood.

Afterward Grace read a bedtime story to Jeremy.
One evening as they were getting ready for dinner the family had a surprise visitor.
Apparently it was Pongo's time to go.
The Grim Reaper showed his affection for dogs ...
before coaxing him to the great beyond.
Then he disappeared.
Naturally the family was very upset about Pongo's death.

Cedric gave Joshua a hug although he was too young to understand what had happened he was upset because everyone else was.

Brennan seems to have Imaginary Friend envy. He was hugging Naomi's IF Isaiah in doll form while she was out hunting for a rainbow gem.
Busy ghost night!
Pongo came back to sleep in his old bed.
Grace was busy having a pillow fight with Jeremy.
Quinn was in the room too but she slept through all of it.

Spooky Day arrived and Brennan was practicing different costume ideas. Jeremy just ignored him and ate his cereal.
Brennan finally settled on being a tiger.
Jeremy decided to be a cow plant.
He stopped to brush Cinnamon before they went out trick or treating.
Naomi decided to be a cat.
Quinn went as a princess and Jack went with them as a masked scuba diver. The night was a little extra special by the appearance of a real unicorn.

The kids all looked so cute in their costumes.
I have been having a lot of issues with the game crashing as soon as I open it. I was just about to give up and say it was unsalvageable and that I'd have to start over with a new family. But I decided to give it one more try. It worked. In fact everything was going great. Suddenly I found a rainbow gem. I was able to make Naomi's IF real. It looked like everything that was going wrong was now right. I saved immediately after the transformation process ended. Good thing.
Then it crashed again. An "exception raised error." I have been trying for over an hour to get it to open. It either immediately freezes or I get the exception raised error. For anyone who is a Mac user you'll be familiar with those. It's a persistent problem with Macs that EA doesn't care to fix.
I have already determined that I might need to move the family out of the town so I can make a new save file. Unfortunately if I can't get it to run for even a minute I can't move the family. I'll try again tomorrow.
If anyone out there still checks this and has advice I'd appreciate it.

"What should we do?" Cedric asked on the way back home.
"I don't know," Grace said. "On one hand I don't like the idea of sending our boys so far away. On the other hand I want to give them every opportunity we can."
"Yes, that is exactly what I am thinking."
After a lot of talking about it they decided to present the ideas to the twins. They wanted to know how they would feel about being sent to a boarding school. Brennan and Jeremy were both excited about the idea of being able to study music and art more in depth. They were a little nervous about the idea of being so far from home, but knowing that they could be together overrode that. In the end they all came to the decision to enroll Brennan and Jeremy at the school. Cedric sat down at the computer to do it.

Not much happened in the time that the boys waited to go to school. There was a snow day which Naomi used to continue her search for a rainbow gem.

Heather's ghost decided to build an igloo.
When the day came Cedric and Grace gave the boys hugs and reminders to call as well as reassurance that they would call also. Jeremy was the first to bravely walk out to the car.

Brennan quickly followed.
A few weeks later as the family was just adjusting to the twins being gone Grace got a call from her sister. She found out that her eldest sister, Darlene, had lost her husband David. The news of the death of her brother-in-law shook Grace. Even though she was much younger than her two sisters she was still shocked at her sister's loss.
Only a few days later it was Quinn's birthday.
She was looking forward to adulthood. Grace and Cedric could hardly believe that they had a daughter old enough to be an adult.
Quinn made a wish before blowing out her candles.
Everyone cheered for her.
Then she aged up.
The next day was time for her graduation.
As the family was heading to the car they saw that someone had built a Grim Reaper snowman near the graveyards in the back. "Probably my father," Grace observed. "He always had a sense of humor like that."
Then the whole family piled into the car to go to City Hall.
After her graduation Quinn tossed her diploma.

They were both so happy about the idea of getting married that they started kissing and making out.
All alone in the house with no parents to question what they were doing and with being newly engaged their passion quickly led them to his bedroom.

Afterwards Quinn fell asleep with Jack, not thinking about how her parents might wonder if she didn't come home all night.
Meanwhile back at the house Grace had adopted a new puppy following the loss of Pongo. Rather than a dalmatian this time she adopted a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel. The puppy was so tiny that he could hardly be seen under the snow as he came toward the house.
Grace named him Blaze.

Having a new puppy to play with cheered her up and made the loss of Pongo not as bad.
When she woke up Quinn realized that she had spent the whole night at Jack's and should hurry home so her parents wouldn't worry. She gave him a kiss good-bye before rushing out. They knew it wouldn't be for long since it wasSnowflake Day and her parents were throwing a party today that he had been invited to.
With all the preparation going on Quinn was able to slip in without any fuss although she did notice her mother giving her looks even after the guests started to arrive.

Just as people were getting ready to open the gifts there was suddenly an unexpected guest.
Apparently it was Cinnamon's time to go with the Grim Reaper.
He gave her a hug ...
and then she floated up into the portal to the great beyond.
Then the Grim disappeared in a puff of smoke.
The loss of Cinnamon spoiled the whole party as the family was overcome with grief over the loss of their beloved pet.
Jack is a compassionate Sim so he felt compelled to come over and comfort Naomi when he saw her crying over Cinnamon's death.
Thinking perhaps to lighten the gloom that had descended on the party Quinn decided to announce the news that she and Jack were engaged now. Jack watched a little nervously, not sure of the reaction of his soon-to-be mother-in-law. Grace was surprised.
But she was also very excited and happy for her eldest daughter.

Despite her happiness over their engagement a little while later Quinn was crying over Cinnamon's death as well. Jack was good at comforting her.
Jack gave her some flowers to help cheer her up.
The party broke up not long afterward. The family was still despondent over the sudden death of their dog and it made it difficult to celebrate Snowflake Day.
