Well, I've just created it, The Farnsworth House. :-) It's also my first upload
Date: Thursday, July 2, 2009

Please, Do not plagiarize.
Please rate and Download.

It is supposed to be a complete replica of the real thing.

Mr. and Mrs. Farnsworth Coming Soon
help needed on creating these people. Details on page:2 Post :1

1: Some pictures comparing the houses.

Here are pictures of what I created

2: Why is the wood color different? You may have noticed the desk and chair looking different. Why? A restoration in 1996 took place after a devastating flood. When they renovated the house, they had to replace the wood that had been destroyed. Though, the wood is of the same type. As it ages, the wood changes color to a more dark form. This is what you see in my download.

3: Short history
To give you a little history on the real house the house was designed by Mies van der Rohe and built in 1951, for Mrs. Farnsworth. You can find the house by the sleepy river in Plano Illinois. Yes, I've been there and was on a tour so won't give you much more information. However, you can check their website.

4: How usable is it?
The house is very usable because of it's excellent layout (here is a picture off the layout) Two Sims can easily move around the house and live in it (even in the kitchen). The one thing that you might want to add if you get the furnished house is a trash can. Sorry, the house is meant to be a replica of the real house and no more. however, you can easily incorporate a trash bin into the kitchen area. However, you won't have to install a fire and burglar alarm(they are hidden behind the fridge).A important note: is that you might want to keep party guests outside and on the platform. Last note: No store items required

5: Where does it look best?
I made the house for Riverview.
467 Farmer Valley Road

6: Download Links
I made three downloads for you.

With furniture

Without furniture (no walls either on the inside)

Warning! When you download the house without furniture, there is a problem with columns popping back up to the surface. I'm making a video to solve this problem.

(New!)With furniture, but now on a smaller lot

You can really tell the care you put into the home, and you've done an excellent job replicating it!!!

    Thanks for the comments

What I really couldn't replicate was the amount of space inside.
Comparing this download to the real thing the Download would have to be at least 4 tiles wider in the house. Too bad the large windows aren't 4 tiles wide. :?

Wow! I remember seeing a special about this house on a show that use to come on back when my kids were little called American Castles. You really did a remarkable job on this, I must say. I am very impressed. Of course I gave you a rec.

Oh, I didn't realize it, but I have competition, many other people created the Farnsworth house too. However, they are not complete replicas.
I guess that they couldn't figure out how to sink columns.

Hey guys, a new Farnsworth house is available for download.
It is an exact copy of the previous version (furnished one) but is available on a smaller lot, that means that you can place it almost anywhere in the town.

Umm, I'm having a little trouble on making Mr. and Mrs. Farnsworth. Can anyone give me a little help.

    You could help me by...

    - Posting a link to a helpful website.
    - Giving feedback on how you want them to be

The Farnsworth's shall no include custom content or store items because everybody should be able to download this. This went the same for the houses so if you suggest this, I will try to see if I could find a way around it (use color patterns to try and make something similar).

So yea, I need your help.

Well I know how to sink them, but once I got them in I couldn't figure out how to do the levels...

You know how you put stairs into the ground.
    3 stairs = one level.

    Cheats used
    constrainfloorelevation (true/false)

What I did for the platform with the building was place 2 stairs down going down into the ground and placed a lot of columns there. From there, I had a platform to build on, so when the platform was done, I deleted all the columns and leveled the terrain. It should look like a floating platform.

The lower level portion was a bit trickier. Because I wanted the columns there and the platform, it took a while. You should place all floor tiles first, so the floor can be inserted above the column. If you do not do that step, you will have to start over, as the tiles cannot be placed over the column on that level. Okay, once you level the terrain using the cheat with false, the floor should pop up way above ground level. (the columns are sunk though. The floor should still be floating way above. Use the foundation to level it back. Undo the cheat with the true. Slowly delete sections of 2 tiles wide and replace them with floor tiles to create the platform. Delete 2 sections of the foundation.....repeat.....repeat until you reach the edge. Yes, you have did it. Yes it is confusing at first, but you will get the hang of it and can do it much faster.

I hope that helps, if not I'll still be here checking this to see if I have any replies about the Farnsworth's
Speaking of that, can you help me with them?

Oh, I sunk the columns first - silly me.

I have no idea what they look like. But I've got a free night tonight so I'll be on for a long time tonight. It's 2:09PM here, so I'll be on at about 11:00 or so...

I live in the 5pm timezone(the one with Chicago in it)so it's about 11:00pm here. I have tennis practice tomorrow so I have to log out pretty soon.

    Well, always happy to help.
Too bad we live too many timezones away.

Could you specify a city that you live close to. A link below is a world time clock
    World Time Clock

I suggest around 9:00-10:00pm Chicago time if you need to chat.

It's all cool. Next time you just log on you can catch up.

I'm building my 'Mmyoko Dream House' based on this house. It isn't exactly the same, though. It has stilts, all glass exterior and is flat and square. Thanks for the inspiration!
