Open My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Saves.
Locate the files relating to the save you want to restore - there should be two, and they will have the name that you gave your save. For example, if the save being restored is called Sunset Valley, there will be two files called Sunset Valley.sims3, and Sunset Valley.sims3.backup.
Rename the xxxx.sims3 file to xxxx.sims3.old.
Rename the xxxx.sims3.backup file to xxxx.sims3.
You should now be able to load your save as normal ingame. You will lose any progress since the last time the game was backed up.
"Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character."
You're not the only one. I can't save or share to save my life... no matter how LONG I wait.
Hope someone helps us out... kind of relieved I'm not the only one with this issue.
For the last 12 hours or so I've been unable to share content or sims. Plus all my recolours done during this time have disappeared.
I've deleted all caches, that didn't work. I rolled back to a back I made last week, which was straight after a clean install, and it still doesn't work. I don't have any CC except for CAP patterns. I was able to share a sim yesterday afternoon, but since then, nothing. Why has CAS stopped all of a sudden. I've done no patches, installed nothing and as I say, I've even rolled back to a previous back-up, before the problems started.
I don't understand why not even a clean rollback hasn't helped. Computer is top spec (8 core processor 16GB ram), so I know it's not that.
I'm at my wits end - this is the second time in just over a week I've had technical issues with this game.
Just want to add that it seems to have gotten worse. At least last night I was able to save the sim I had worked on - now if I make adjustments to that or any other saved sim, I cannot re-save them....
Desperately hoping for a solution. I have contests I'm now unable to enter, and for me the greatest part of this game is being able to create and share content, so if this no longer works, then there's not much point in me playing anymore.
I'm also glad that I'm not the only one becuase then EA may try to fix it! (MAYBE) ... But these loading and saving screens just go on and on and on! Last week I lost a house I built 5 times all to the forever saving. And just yesterday I spent an hour building this really huge, fancy, detailed house, and when I pressed save, you probably know what happened...
They REALLY need to fix this! I now see people's games crashing after master suite, I skiped Master suite because I could save my game, how lucky I am!
I'm also hoping it's fixable, but what I don't get is how mine was working in the afternoon fine, but then in the evening and ever since (without adding or changing anything in game or on pc, and without closing down or reopening game or launcher) it's failed to save/share to/from bin.
I have the game patched to 1.29 and I have a dxiag report if anyone thinks submitting it here will be of use.
I've had the issue for a few days now... I gave up for now. I get too ticked off... so I've gone to Tomb Raider Anniversary until I cool off enough to get ****** again at it not working.
Its sad that it isn't working right. Kind of layed up and this game keeps me sane lol.
Well I seem to have fixed mine, after generating a new sims 3 folder and testing every element, the problem seemed to be in the saved sims folder. I think I had too many saved sims (I had just over 100). When I moved all the saved sims out and brought back just a few I was playing with in CAS, then saving and sharing went back to normal. The few I brought back were the most recent, so it shows the problem wasn't with them themselves, but maybe with an overload of sims.
I'm kind of surprised that this is the problem, as I have an awful lot of memory on this machine, but hubby says it culd be a software limitation. Anyway, I now plan to move any sims I'm not playing out of the live folder until I need them. I had lots of old contest entries etc that I'd never play again taking up space.
Anyway, check your sims bin, and purge it a bit, then see if the problem goes away...

I tryed this, Didn't work for me. but I never upload sims.
Im having this problem aswell. I had to end task The Sims 3 via Task Manager because the save wasnt responding. And no it isnt my pc/laptop because its a newer laptop(Toshiba L750/0LM) and its fully updated with newer driver updates, graphics updates and windows update. No it isnt even my CC's because ive never had this problem before. Only ever since I downloaded and installed Master Suite its been having problems with this.

Same! Everything is the same as you except I don't have Master suite, I didn't bother buying it becuase my game wasn't even working! My computer is high end and new, ran sims 3 perfectly before pets then, crash, freeze, forever save, ect. ect.!
Reading all of the posts it looks like a memory problem. Not the game, the space on your hard drive. Try doing a disk clean and then defragment your hard drive.
Computer/drive sims is installed on/rightclick/disk cleanup/ and then do the same again but instead of disk clean/defragment.
Or it could be you don't have enough virtual memory allocated.
Start/control panel/system and security/system/advanced system settings/performance/settings/advanced/Virtual memory/change
If you are not sure how much to allocate, search the help on your computer for virtual memory paging file, it depends on the size of your hard drive and how much ram you have as to how much you can allocate.
Hope this helps Ange
For the crashing and freezing, I had that problem and sorted it by avoiding the launcher, manually updating to the superpatch then avoiding the launcher to play the game by creating a shortcut on the desktop using the TS3W exe for the base game. Ive been playing now for ages without any problems.

I've not bought the Master Suite yet too busy recovering from the problems pets caused me.
The only thing I can think of is that it didn't install properly. Is it digital download? If so sometimes files get corrupted when downloaded. (sorry just noticed in post it's digital)

It can't be, I have over 300GB of free space currently and I figured out the game only "forever saves/loads" when I do anything in build mode, if I don't go into build mode everything is fine! Thank you for the suggestion though

Im sorry I can't help. Ange
All I know is that its possibly the update from Master Suite caused problems with me. My download of Master Suite was downloading smoothly and non-stop so it didnt go corrupted. Because I know if you keep pausing the downloads it can cause the content thats downloading to go corrupted. I dont know why else its causing my saves saving a long time for. I dont have much CC's either. And everything is updated aswell on my pc.

OMG! It was CC! I downloaded a door which caused all my doors to be corrupted! Everytime I would add a door it would save forever! I guess this is resolved for me but hopefully I'm not talking to soon! :-o
I also have this problem and I have not installed anything new except the edwardian kitchen set. Other than store DLC and patterns I have made in CAP I don't have any custom content that I am aware of. Hmmm....this is has been going on for weeks now. My game saves fine while in game...it is when I hit save and quit that I have this problem.
Just out of interest has anyone tried using the base game TSW3 exe?
As I said before I don't have the master suite but using the above to play the game has worked for me with all the problems I was having with pets and the patch update. I only use the launcher to install stuff and use my desktop shortcut to play. When I do get around to buying master suite I'm going to carry on doing the same. I will also carry on patching my game with the manual patches.
I'm curious to find out if this does work for anyone else.

It will share previous made sims but NOT new ones. I have to End Task also. My laptop is in tip top shape so it is the game, not the pc.

The only thing I can think of is that it didn't install properly. Is it digital download? If so sometimes files get corrupted when downloaded. (sorry just noticed in post it's digital)
Im sorry I can't help. Ange
It can't be, I have over 300GB of free space currently and I figured out the game only "forever saves/loads" when I do anything in build mode, if I don't go into build mode everything is fine! Thank you for the suggestion though
