Making skeleton dogs etc

How do you guys make these cool skeleton dogs, unicorns, etc? I've tried finding the spot for the special effects in my game and can't find it for the life of me! I have the LE Pets version, Mac, Snow Leopard, patched, all that good stuff, no CC.

I was playing around making coats for my dog and i cant remember exactly, but there is a section where you can choose the pattern your dog has and at the bottom i had the skeleton (must be from the Fur tab or something)

when you add a layer in the create a pet......look in the top left corner.

you can stretch and move around any of the patterns to pretty much make any design.

I haven't checked on how many layers you can add but I've made some neat patterns on the animals.
