First of all, I'm so, very sorry if I put this post in the wrong place. I mulled it over for a long time before I finally decided to post it here! I know it's not an actual story or legacy, but I figured I'd get a response from readers and writers faster if I posted here!
That being said, I'll try to keep this as organized as possible! Hopefully my thoughts won't come out too jumbled~
___________
So! I'm looking forward to making my first Sims story and sharing it here on the forums. But I find that I don't exactly...know how to approach it! I've got a few questions on my mind:
▸ What are some of the best places to post or host my story?
I've seen stories hosted here, on blogspot, and few other places. As a writer, what is your favorite place to post your stories? Is there a certain place that's easier to maintain than another? And as a reader, which sites to best keep up with a story on? Do you find it easier to read stories hosted on certain sites?
▸ How text-heavy should a story be?
I know there's not necessarily a right or wrong way to go about making and sharing a story. But what do you feel is a good amount of text? Do you go for stories that have short little sentences, or do you find engaging walls of text more suited to your taste?
▸ What keeps you motivated to put out more of your story?
How do you do it? What keeps you going until the very end?
▸ What keeps you motivated to continue reading a story?
What makes you want to read more? What has you coming back and checking for updates almost constantly?
▸ How fleshed-out is your story before you jump in and start playing?
Do you just create Larry and Sally and just see what happens? Or do you have a detailed plan for what you want to happen?
▸ How much other preparation do you go through before actually posting your story?
Do you make practice Sims? Do you plot out their house and family trees?
EDIT: Here are a couple of new questions I thought of!
▸ What are some valuable lessons you've learned from your previous experiences with storytelling?
▸ About how long is a good waiting period between updates?
▸ How much of your story (pictures and all) is completed before you first start posting/sharing it?
___________
I'm interested in hearing from both readers and writers (although I think I've made that very obvious, haha)! I'm excited to start creating my story, but I'd like to hear what you, the experienced forum-goers (and even some of you lurkers), have to say!
I'll probably think of some more questions soon, and if I do I'll update the list! Thanks in advance for any response!~

Personally I use Blogger as I find it easy to make the kind of story that interests me. It also seperates the text from the forum (a method I dislike) and avoids the glitchy storyboard (I like more text than the storyboard lends itself to anyway)
How text-heavy should a story be?
You're right, there really is no right or wrong.
What keeps you motivated to put out more of your story?
This is constantly a problem for me
How fleshed-out is your story before you jump in and start playing?
Very. I usually have characters and some plot lines all mapped out, sometimes for generations.
How much other preparation do you go through before actually posting your story?
It varies. On a good day you take the picutres, you know what you want to write about and it flows. Other tiimes it drags a bit.
Personally I love blogspot ^_^ don't know why I think it's mostly because I don't like the layout so much of the other sites. But I also highly suggest adding your chapter's to the thread you create for your legacy/story (which ever you are doing) as well. Many people don't like to go about and jumping sites.
How text-heavy should a story be?
Keep it an even ratio ^_^ if you can. Unless it's for dialogue sometimes I add a picture for each person talking.
What keeps you motivated to put out more of your story?
At first it was people reading if people were reading my story, and still is actually. But I mostly do it because I love writing, and I figured I'd give sim stories a try. So even if I don't have a lot of readers I do it because I enjoy doing so. Also I keep in mind seeing as I am writing out a legacy, that sometimes it does take a bit for a story to catch on so make sure you are doing it for the fun of it and eventually your story will get more readers the further it progresses.
How fleshed-out is your story before you jump in and start playing?
I full on out plan out my story before I even start taking pictures. I write it out the way I want it to go and take the pictures as best as I can.
How much other preparation do you go through before actually posting your story?
I really don't go on out and plan everything out. I do build their houses of course and I do create every single sim that they tend to encounter. Of course I leave original townies in as well. But I'm very strict on how things will go in their lives, because frankly I don't want them going and messing up my plot lol.
Thanks again!!
Update: Added just a tiny handful of new questions~
Usually I wait a week or so between updates.
A good two chapters is completed before I begin posting.
