    Wow, that awesome
Anyone who says anything bad about it should be dragged out into the street and shot lol.
Since I saw the word obsessiveness mentioned, try not look at that as a bad thing though 8) because it has brought out your full potential in creating something that has wowed many Sims players  and it's people like you that makes the game even more interesting

I wish I could build that neat, when I build anything that needs boolprop, my lot looks more like a construction yard, with odd walls, extra floors and stuff I can't even remember what I was going to use them for.

Fantastic tutorial, really great lot, just one small question, when you where building downwards, did it cross your mind to leave the floor tiles and boolprop them down with the rest of the ship. I was thinking how tricky it would be to make a pirate ship, do you think it would be possible to connect them tiles around the base to form a seamless hull.

I will put that in my to do list, anyway great tutorial

Leaving the tiles in place looks terrible because of the bumps. Just like I don't connect every piece of the rim because the angles are 45 degrees. Thus in any art, you leave suggestions rather then whole pictures.

You will also notice in the final construction of the town that not all the windows are there. I actually built the windows symetrical but delete every window here and there to suggest the image of a house/town.

Good question, you will need to download the final ship to find out :P

and to the rest of the posters..... thank you... really appreciate your appreciation of my work.

Woah, you really must have a lot of patience. Sometimes I don't even put wallpaper on my houses, haha :) Your sim lots must all look really pretty.

Holy WOW. That is extremely insane. I made boats in the Sims2 for one of my stories, but I couldn't even begin to make one with that amount of detail. I can't imagine how frustrating it may be at first, but as you said earlier, It's not work when it's an obsession.

Congratulations on being that creative and couragous to even try to figure that out. What motivated you? Did you just wake up one morning and think, "I'm going to build a boat today?" In any case, it is extremely amazing. I love the finished project, the one you can download from the exchange. It is amazingly detailed and very beautiful.

Keep working on your amazing yachts. I'm sure there will be lots more to come from you. :)

    cool!
i just printed the first page. ill see if i can use this concept to design a pirate ship. the yacht layout seems a little confusing. ill try to slow down and re-read this to follow what you've done.

LOL ive already thought up of an idea for the masts!

i think ill try a sketch on paper since im learning all of this stuff on a whim.

    thanks again

@bailaballet - we all start off with cubes :P but persistence is everything.

@zizzee - I am so detailed sometimes that I even put toilet paper in the washrooms :P

    @i_c_f_89 - 600 horrible boxes = yacht :P

@kooliekay_1 - thanks kooliekay_1. No waking up thinking you will make a boat. I think that there is a house on every sim lot waiting for someone to uncover it :P. My project starts off with boxes and adding more boxes; something like doodling. You create the general outline, big broad stokes (big boxes) and you keep adding to it; changing here and there... and soon... you see the shape coming out.... the fingers are always on ctrl-z just in case you make a mistake. On this particular lot, the yacht revealed itself :P

@JOKERA_US - definitely do-able.. I look forward to seeing it and so will EA :P

    Thanks again everyone.

    Hello phantacy8,

Well I use every cheat code that I can find that can help build :P

    Thus:
    - "constrainfloorelevation off" - to lower or raise walls with the raise or lower tool
    - "moveobjects on" - to hang things or move objects to places that cannot be placed

sometimes I use the nosnapgrid cheat so that I can place flood lights in odd places.

    During testing with eight sims...
To create eight sims for testing I use
    - "testingcheatsenabled on"
    - shift click on mailbox and select force NPC to visit
    - shift click on visiting sim to get menu and to add sim to family
    - sometimes I force a maid to visit and add the maid to the family so the house stays clean.

you can then use shift click on locations to teleport the sim to areas

and thats about it. Not a lot of cheats, but enough to build the yacht.

    oh my....

@JOKERA_US, don't give up.... and a great effort so far.....

Now remember to relax and to enjoy your build. Once you have done it once, it is so easy the next time; really!!!

Now the first thing I noticed is that you laid your framework on the ground :P The hull is actually on the first floor so you can delete the walls around the hull and actually lower or raise the terrain from under the hull without affecting the shape.

    Now lets start again...
    1. create a box with walls where the ship is going to be. This is the hull box. fill it with floor tiles (usually white so you cansee what you are doing).
    2. create a small square foundation box in each corner
    3. constrainfloorelevation off
    4. terrain level from foundation corner to the opposite corner. This is lower the hull box to 1 stair case height in the middle.
    5. now draw in the hull beams with the fence tool.

At this point you have many options.

option 1. the next floor will need to be lowered also by using the staircase tool and flatterning the layer (3 times) so that it is just 1 staircase height away from the bottom.

option 2. you can lower the bottom of the hull by using the staircase tool by 3 or 4 times but this will fill the bottom with water so it is best to do option 1 first before option 2.

option 3. raise the sides of the hull using the 3 walls surrounding the hull.

Remember one thing. At all times, the hull can easily be reconstructed if you make a mistake, ctrl-z or using the 3 sides to pull up a spar, or use the staircase tool to push down. If all else fails, as long as the bottom is connected to the ground, any terrain raise or lower functions will affect the hull.

If you delete the walls surrounding the hull then you can dig a large hole in the ground without affecting the shape of the hull.

If you make a mistake, ctrl-z to recover and relax. Save often, save many. It is an experiment...

Good luck. I see the makings of a pirate ship already....
