Hi, my game freezes after either 15 seconds or when I try to switch floors. I am running the base game, World Adventures, High-End Loft Stuff and Late Night. Here are my specs:
iMac
20-Inch, Early 2009
Processor: 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256 MB
Serial Number: WQ9043LM0TF
Software: Mac OS X Lion 10.7 (11A511)
Same problems here, both with and without a Mods folder. Also, updating to 1.24 has been quitting on me at the last moment, with and without a Mods folder. Ran flawlessly under Snow Leopard.
SPECS:
MacBook Air 13" Late 2010
Processor: 1.86 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 MB
Software: Mac OS X Lion 10.7 (11A511)
@SimGuruHydra: Thank you for thanking Mac folks for our patience earlier. But I'm sure you can understand we'd rather have regular updates on the problem than flash fixes that don't correct that problem.
I see you're online now—do you have an idea of where EA is now on fixing this problem and would you let us know?
MacBook Pro Late 2008 15inch
Processor- 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory- 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Grapphics- NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 512 MB
System - Mac OS X Lion 10.7
I'm having problems too. Game freezes a few seconds into gameplay. I could still move the cursor and the music continued to play. (My sims were listening to the radio at the time.) Here are my specs:
iMac-24 inch, Early 2009
Processor- 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory- 4 GB
Graphics- NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256 MB
Software-Mac OS X Lion 10.7
Arrrggghh! Fix this soon! I'm beginning to feel betrayed and regretful of all the $$$ I've spent between Apple and EA to only end up with a gorgeous machine that I'm ready to use as a doorstop.
I too am having my Mac, after the 1.24 update crash directly to desktop. When it does play, I'm having NPC firefighters show up in my sims apt wanting to dance ? It would be funny if it wasn't just one thing after another with this bollocksed game.
My system is as follows:
MacBook Pro 15"
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.53 GHz
Memory: 4 GB
NVIDIA GeForce 9600MGT
OS Lion
As an aside I thought you might enjoy the following excerpt from PC World magazine. If Apple is so important to EA, why aren't we Mac customers given some value as well?
EA chief executive John Riccitiello declared Apple's iPad its fastest growing gaming platform, noting that dedicated gaming consoles have slipped from 80 percent to representing just 40 percent of the game industry.
In an interview published by IndustryGamers, Riccitiello said the traditional cycle of new generations of gaming consoles that appear every five years is "not a particularly smart way to run an industry," in contrast to the model of Apple's iOS App Store, which supports continuous development that supports EA "putting out software every 90 days."
After noting the sharply diminished share of the gaming industry that traditional gaming consoles represent, in contrast to the rapid expansion of gaming revenues connected to Apple's iPad platform, Riccitiello also downplayed the value of hardware power to drive game sales.
"I would argue that there’s more to be provided in terms of value for the consumer in micro-transactions and social experiences and driving those better in cross-platform gameplay between a console and a PC and a handheld device and a social network than there is supercharging graphics," Riccitiello said.
Last spring, Flurry Analytics reported that Apple's share of the US video game software market had grown by 500 percent.
However, as the iPad began to gain traction, game developers quickly began to report astonishing growth and support from customers, with one major developer noting its iPad launch as being "by far" the fastest selling and highest revenue generating game platform, thanks to promotion by Apple.
Since then, Apple's launch of iPad 2 resulted in a major leap in performance for games, which Epic Games' developer Tim Sweeney contrasted with conventional game consoles, describing "a 10-20x leap in performance every 7-8 years" for consoles, compared to the 9x leap Apple claimed for the iPad 2 in just one annual refresh.

EA chief executive John Riccitiello declared Apple's iPad.....in just one annual refresh.
While I agree that EA definitely doesn't give us nearly as much attention as their precious PC users, I just have to point out that the mobile games are produced by an entirely different wing of EA than the PC/Mac versions, so the article isn't really all that relevant. It was interesting to read, though, thanks for sharing!

I wouldn't blame Apple, Developer Preview 1 of Lion was released on the 24th February. That's 5 months to test TS3 and make sure it works and report any bugs to Apple. I don't think I need to say anymore......

This thread isn't about the patch essentially mailaig but thank you for posting Am I right in understanding that you are actually able to play, the game's just being cranky as usual? Because all the people posting with the same graphics cards are having the same problem, CAS working fine but actual gameplay crashing within minutes. it seems no one with the 2 mentioned cards are able to play at all
Ok, on my iMac with Lion installed it has been working decently.
mid 2008 iMac 24" 2.8 GHz Core 2 Duo
4 GB of RAM 800 MHz DDR2
ATI radeon HD 2600 Pro 256 MB
OS: 10.7 Lion
On another note, anyone notice that if you have natural scrolling enabled, all of the sudden my scrolling to zoom is inverted. Hey EA, this is another bug for you guys to fix....
So it seems that EA will not do anything about the graphics card problem as the cards in question are not officially supported anymore.
This is the readme.txt from Generations:
And this is the one from Town Life:
Notice the glaring omission? Yep, any support for the NVIDIA GeForce 9400 has now been withdrawn. The 320M was never on there in the first place, sorry
So EA must have been testing in Lion and KNEW that the cards wouldn't work, yet SGHydra still posted this on the other thread:
Thanks for giving us the heads up on this. We're now looking into this issue. In the meantime, try removing any 3rd party content before running your game. Another suggestion is to back up your saves and running a clean install.
BluebellFlora, thanks for starting this thread.
Simmers - posting your specs and details has been very helpful
BTW - the date of the readme.txt file is 23rd March 2011, 4 months ago.....

I don't have the natural scrolling enabled, I think it's taking the whole IOS to OSX integration thing too far!
