PLEASE help - my game won't re-install !

Hey Simmers & SimGurus',
I got the game on the day it came out and it installed and worked perfectly. I had a problem with my computer a week later and we called the HP technicians and they told us to completely reset the system.
It uninstalled the game or deleted it off the computer or something, and when I tried to re-install it, the game starts up and then I get a messege saying:
"Do you want to completely remove the selected application and all of its features?"
And then something like "Do you want to remove downloads / custom content?"
I press yes but nothing happens! The same for when I press no. :?
My computer just got back from being serviced and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I just got it back now after almost a week.
I'm really upset and it's the collectors edition too, so if it's broken I don't know if I can get it replaced.

The sims 3 shows up in Control Panel / programs but it doesn't work or uninstall or anything.
I have Windows Vista so I hope that helps :?
