I have to admit that I made it all the way through to the tenth generation in Sims2. Added up my points and was considered a "Sim Wrangler" or something like that. It's been quite a long time. As for the boring stages, I think you just have to focus on one Sims, in particular, and just push through it.
This challenge sounds fun to me. I doubt I would take part in it but this is actually how I usually play The Sims just without rules. I enjoy starting out with a single member of poor circumstances and raise the family through generations. This time I was thinking about putting my character into context in The Sims 4 though and start out with a whole family, I'll see. I will take Crinrict's advice nevertheless to use "Save as" at least once a day. I've lost generations worth gameplay in The Sims 3 two times and it kills enthusiasm.
I am doing this challenge, but I am also doing my own challenge, but in my own, I am starting with the earliest male ancestor on my fathers side, have to make all their wives, to fit somehow into the scheme of things, but also to look as much like a previous ancestor as possible with out being exact.
as for Pinstar's legacy rules, I intend to use this avatar, as my founder, I am still thinking over the rules, so have not decided on which part in the part u must choose first to do. Last time I did this I got to 9th gen. before my computer was corrupted and I lost everything. I am hoping this time that will not happen. IEEEE I see so much fun coming this time around with all the new things in Sims 4.
Can't wait. I couldn't do a legacy in sims 3 (just didn't have the patience - too scared of crashes, corruption, lag, etc). I really want to do one asap in Sims 4.

Did a legacy on Sims 2, but not on Sims 3. Gonna take another crack at it when I get TS4 on FRIDAY :'( (Oh why must I wait so long?). When I first followed it I thought it was a great way to test my skills by being taken out of any 'comfort zone' and having to take more chances to achieve the goals the challenge set (ie not buying a ready built house to begin with). Will the rules be updated? Will they still be found on the same page? Getting frustrated now :s.
(EDIT: If you are playing in the Sims 4...) Watching the video at the bottom of this post will tell you exactly how to begin, including which lots you may use and how to get them. It is very helpful. Have fun! simslegacychallenge.com/the-sims-4-legacy-challenge-rules/
