OFFICIAL ENTRY FORM: VENUS Build-N-Challenge 233-235, due 2/19

    NAME: Lorilye

LINK TO LOT: http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=8024855 the mansion without the family and before the family moved in.

    LINK TO MEDIA: http://s1057.photobucket.com/user/rubyinightingale/slideshow/The%20house%20of%20Venus%20Victor%20and%20Jarvis

OPTIONAL CHALLENGE: http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=8031136 The Mansion with the family. The family’s story: http://s1057.photobucket.com/user/rubyinightingale/slideshow/The%20lives%20of%20Venus%20Victor%20and%20Jarvis

LEVEL: I hope it is not to late to change my mind on thei but I would like to go from advanced to Intermediate - After looking at all the advanced I was to bold to call myself advanced. I still build a lot but I still have much to learn lol.

LOT SIZE, ADDRESS & FINAL COST: Lot size 50 x 50 I placed in Sunset Valley at 2250 Pinochie point. I like the view of Sunset valley from there. The finished house price before the Sims moved in was $256,589. The price went down when I moved them in so I posted the original house for Judgement. I posted the version of the house that they moved into; in the Optional challenge. It is the same house but has the family.

LOT DESCRIPTION & DETAILS: I used the master floor plan of a Victorian Mansion that I once lived in. It got hit by a tornado the year after we moved out. The center staircase could not be exactly like the one we had but I did my best. I even included the walk in closets. It did not have towers. I added those in. I could not resist cluttering the attic. I put the Butler's suite up in the third floor, with the laundry room and another bathroom. I gave Jarvis his own kitchen. The second floor has the Master bedroom for Venus and Victor; I created wallpaper with a photo of a picture of Venus, which my daughter took while she was in Italy. I created both a child’s room and a baby room. On the first floor I made an arched hole for the statue in the living room. The house we lived in had a few arched areas like that for statues. The kitchen has a walk in Pantry. There is a nook where the backdoor is and a downstairs bathroom. I made three bathrooms, one for each floor. I landscaped the outside and added a green house. One Victorian house we use to visit had both a greenhouse and a maple sugar shack. I put in spaces for extra possible storage in the two car garage. I basically combined my memories of two Victorian mansions that I knew in my life and I added what I loved the most about them. I of course added a heart swimming pool for Valentine’s day. I think the keg is the only item that showed up in the photos that did not come with the original house but it was used for the wedding party.Jarvis struck it rich when he followed them to France on the honeymoon and they hired another butler. In the photos I describe their personalities. I started Victor and Venus as teens living in two separate households. Venus changes her hair a lot. I decided women in that kind of lifestyle do not wear the same cloths and hairdos every day.

    CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM: Sure yes.

If you click out of the slideshow for Venus and Victors lives, more words describing what is going on will appear and not just the titles.

CREDIT TO SIMMERS FOR CUSTOM CONTENT USED: I used patterns in the pool, third floor bathroom walls and floor, and on several walls, created by Michellpyle. The second floor bathroom wall pattern of the ladies was created by Sashazitrone I got the pearl pattern from ineseva but michellepyle also has it posted and I do not know which one came up with it first. I think I used maviny's scenic tile patterns somewhere in the house. Maybe a ceiling somewhere. With a special thanks to my 21-year-old daughter who gave me the photo she took of Venus while she was in Italy this winter. I created the lily pattern on the upstairs hallway walls. Michellpyle made the pattern for the upstairs hall floor and ceiling.

    Build-N-Share Challenge (233-2)
    Venus

    NAME: Elenek

    LINK TO LOT: http://bit.ly/1jnJDpX

LINK TO MEDIA: http://s11.photobucket.com/user/EleneK/story/120761 -Organized story format
Individual pictures: Probably unorganized by now, http://s11.photobucket.com/user/EleneK/library/Sims/Painted Lady About Town?sort=6&page=1

    OPTIONAL CHALLENGE: Maybe

    LEVEL: Advanced

LOT SIZE, ADDRESS & FINAL COST: 50X50, Added to Riverview, $256,591

LOT DESCRIPTION & DETAILS: The Painted Lady.

    Inspiration: http://www.housemouse.net/ebooks/SanFranciscoCA.htm

    VanNess.jpg

This is based on a historic San Francisco Painted Lady. The original floor plan was a duplex (upstairs, downstairs) that I modified into a single family home. I added on a carriage house and put the butler’s quarters above. Traditional rooms included are parlor, music room, library, dining room, and kitchen with butler’s pantry. I converted the drawing room into a Victorian inspired media room. TV’s do not belong in the parlor. Upstairs there are four bedrooms with attached baths. The nursery is decorated in Classic Peter Rabbit.

For the gardens I used a formal planting arrangement that was more common with manor houses as opposed to the more informal cottage garden. This let me include a water feature, a large expanse of manicured lawn, and a formal walking path all in the same side yard. On the other side of the house, between the driveway and the house, I added a kitchen garden in traditional layout.

    CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM: "yes"

CREDIT TO SIMMERS FOR CUSTOM CONTENT USED: I hope there isn’t any. I tried hard not to use any custom content on this one. But, seeing how it refused to upload, there is probably something. If you see it, let me know.

Custom patterns are all exchange items. The Peter Rabbit wall paper is on my page.

I regret not adding a piano. My Victor has a bass, fiddle, and guitar that he carry's around. I wish the Sims had concert harps. In real life I play a harp. It would have been fun to add one to my mansion if they had them.

Probably. I would have killed for a harp to go where I eventually put the bass. Then again I would have also gone bananas over a TV in an armoire that opened and closed.

OFFICIAL ENTRY FORM Build-n-Share Challenge #233-235 Venus

    NAME: iampes23

    LINK TO LOT: http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=8033378

    LINK TO MEDIA: http://s97.photobucket.com/user/iampes23/slideshow/Venus 233 235

    OPTIONAL CHALLENGE: http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=8037912#

Victor Robert Van Ellis is an up-and-coming gene therapist whose ambitious nature and hopelessly romantic heart are causing him to fetch his bride from the clutches of her foreboding family. This Capricorn is hot-headed enough not to care, knowing full well that Venus loves him. He also has luck on his side, and his manners are always proper, which he hopes will lessen the bad feelings between the two families earlier rather than later. He has a passion for lobster and billiards. He also has a passion for French music, which Venus also shares.
Venus Artemis Van Ellis is a real beauty that men find irresistible! She shines with natural star quality that brings many admires as well. She remains friendly to all she meets. She has a nurturing side that makes her family-oriented, and she wants five or six children. She is a Sagittarius whose favorite color is lilac ( the purple hydrangeas were planted around the house because of this).
Jarvis Anton is the family butler that Victor is "inheriting" for a wedding present from an old uncle. Jarvis is a Virgo who loves Indie music and all reality shows on TV(he said he would quit without a way to keep up with his favorite shows). He is a neat perfectionist who is extremely handy around the home. He has a green thumb is a natural when it comes to cooking.

Sorry, not feeling up to getting all the random pics into a story this time after dealing with sooo many pics for the house. I am not submitting the optional challenge, but feel free to look at the family if interested.

    LEVEL: intermediate

LOT SIZE, ADDRESS & FINAL COST: $256,575, 12 Sandy Shale Beach Lane, it is technically on a 64x64 lot but I marked it off and only used the 60x60

LOT DESCRIPTION & DETAILS: Since Victor and Venus were having problems from her family, I built the Gothic Victorian home in a secluded area right on the beach with only a path for access. A second "meeting" with Victor over the phone brought out some likes and dislikes, which helped me to better plan out the home. Venus is wild about mazes, so I included one in the front garden. Both Victor and Venus have just started getting into Steam punk, and they wanted to include some features of it in there home--but not let it overwhelm the home. The couple fully embraced the Victorian ways, including no televisions or high tech equipment with the exception of a TV in the butler's quarters and a computer and skill items for Victor's medical profession. Victor also revealed that Venus's family can trace itself back to the pyramids of Al Simhara and that she would be bringing many family heirlooms from that time with her to the home. Since Victorians loved pyramids and archeology (in Egypt especially), this seemed more than natural. Also natural was adding one room of Oriental items to remind the couple of their very first trip together(they were both in junior high)! A unity through the home gives way to personal preferences in the bedrooms while still maintaining the same wood and main colors of gold, black, and green. Most of the lighting was hanging candles/lamps, which did not show up in many of the pictures. The house was built from Victorian floor plans I found on the internet with some modifications and an added third floor and tower.

    CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM: yes please

Note: Photobucket is a real pain at the moment so not all the images are showing up for me to add titles, I'll try and get around to fixing it later.

Venus is a Supernatural Fan, Brave, Family Oriented, Artistic and Friendly. Her favorites: Classical, Crepes and Lilac. Her sign is Virgo and her Lifetime Wish is to be Surrounded by Family.

Victor is Handy, Neat, Hopeless Romantic, Proper and Ambitious. His favorites are: Classical, Frogs Legs and Green. His sign is Capricorn and his Lifetime Wish is to become a Monster Maker.

Jarvis is Insane, Unflirty, Natural Cook, Perfectionist and Neat. His favorites are Beach Party music, Firecracker Shrimp, and Red. His sign is Cancer and his Lifetime Wish is to become a Culinary Librarian.

Horatio was added just to fill out the wedding guests as they were to be married ASAP, and didn't make many friends at the fair. He is Brave, Adventurous, a Party Animal, Inappropriate and Charismatic. His favorites are French Music, Felafel and Green. His sign is Scorpio and his Lifetime Wish is to become a Grand Explorer.

    The kids:
    First born:
Cordelia. Traits: Couch Potato, Eccentric, Mean Spirited, Coward. Favorites: Lime, Salmon, Latin Music. Sign: Capricorn. Lifetime Wish:Emperor of Evil.

    Triplets:
Robert. Traits:Neurotic, Easily Impressed, Rebellious, Excitable. Favorites: Seafoam, Potato and Truffle Torte, Kids Music. Sign: Leo.

Alexander. Slob, Easily Impressed, Good, Charismatic. Favorites: Latin Music, KeyLime Pie, Aqua. Sign: Gemini.

Jean-Luc. Traits: Genius, Evil, Insane, Mooch. Favorites: French Music, Hamburger, Purple. Sign: Aquarius.

    The Youngest:
Abigail. Traits: Absent Minded, Good. Favorites: Beach Party Music, Cookies, Hot Pink. Sign: Pisces.

    LEVEL: Intermediate

LOT SIZE, ADDRESS & FINAL COST: 60x60, 15 Summer Hill Court, Sunset Valley. $252,552 though upload had depreciated by about 10% due to upgrades.

LOT DESCRIPTION & DETAILS: I initially started out with a floor plan and illustration of a Queen Anne style home, but as I was finishing that off, I discovered a bunch of adorable Second Empire and Steamboat Gothic (Yes! It's a thing!) style houses that I just fell in love with. So my build is based on a house that (I think) is called the Davenport-Curtiss Mansion, though it is also known as a number of variations of this name.
    DavenportCurtisshouse.jpg
    Davenport-Curtiss Mansion, Saline, Michigan.
It's not an exact replica, because I couldn't find any really good photos other than from the front/entry, so I've improvised heavily. The floor plan is laid out from my own logical reasoning, eg. at least 1 bathroom accessible to all visitors/guests and residents, the Kitchen adjoins the Dining room, Dining and Living/Great rooms are separated by an archway and the Butler's Suite is a fully self contained cottage in one corner of the lot. The gardens are opulent and excessive, while the house seems petite by comparison. The nursery/Children's bedroom is very pink. That is mainly a symptom of the pallets I was working from. For the most part, this is a very romantic, intimate and nostalgic home, built for a small, old fashioned family.

    CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM: Of course!

OPTIONAL CHALLENGE: Pictures for the optional are at the end of the house pictures and most are captioned. Victors other traits are shy, dog person, and angler. Victor also choose the nerd social group all on his own. He really liked the stock pond in the back yard and got his fishing skill level to 10 in just a few days! He's a hopeless romantic but his shy trait gets in the way of it showing. Venus' other traits are brave, rebellious, and brooding. She likes to blow glass objects, play her big piano and garden. She also likes to stare out the window a lot and brood. Her fav place is the rocker in the nursery, even before the baby girl Valentine was born. Venus had the baby on Valentines Day so naturally I named her valentine and decorated her nursery according. Venus did not choose a social group. Jarvis' other traits are great kisser, irresistible and natural cook. I though it would be cool and shake things up a bit to make Jarvis a good looking Rico Suaveé, can Venus resist? He also chose nerd social group and likes to sit in the playhouse and read or do things in his room. He also enjoys talking to Venus more than Victor. I made Valentines traits perceptive and loves the cold.

Thank you! I'm exhausted from playing them, and I still have 3 to get to teenagers before Venus fulfills her LW. (Having the flu IRL this week didn't help either!) And you're right about the builds all being stunning. So much great work. I love that your house is based on one you've actually been in. And cmbaker16's playhouse - WOWZA! Saint_gambi's garden is TDF (and I love that she wrote her name in landscaping paint within the foundation!). And linzlulubell nailed the bric-a-brac with the fencing on the house (fun color scheme, too!). So many neat builds. Can't wait to see what else gets submitted!

Hey all, I know I have been inactive for a while, but I was wondering is anyone else having trouble accessing their exports folder? Mine will not open. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

UPDATE* I am not sure what I did but I did get the folder open, maybe it was the file size this one was a doozy! Anyhow everyone did a great job on these builds! I am really enjoying checking out the media this time!

Since I submitted mine a week ago (I thought it was the usual 2 weeks instead of 3) should I redo it or is it fine?
ArikaB, I am always amazed by your builds. If my lot has even the little bit of a slop I can't ever seem to get it to do what I want. Just beautiful.
Everyone's houses are gorgeous, I can't wait to see the rest.

Can't wait to see what else gets submitted![/quote]

Thank you!! Since I'm still new to B N S I love feedback, even if its not good feedback it may show me something I don't see. You're right this one was exhausting!! I was in a panic because I almost trashed it because of roof issues but thanks to some rad tutorials I could make it happen! So happy I didn't give up and anytime you see something I coulda done better feel free to point it out! Hopefully I get some luck submitting on my birthday :-o
