LOT SIZE, ADDRESS & FINAL COST: 50x25, custom placement in Hidden Springs, I lost track of the budget a little but I think I ended up around 335,000ish. I totally understand if this is disqualifying.
LOT DESCRIPTION & DETAILS:
4-story Swiss chalet with ample balconies and decks, lots of entertainment options, and decorated in an up-scale style.
The basement has the garage, laundry, wine cellar, sauna, bath, and servant's quarters. There is also an entry at the basement level. I approximated the look of a snowmobile in the garage using a jetski, and added snowboards to the walls (to stand-in for the ski equipment). The bathroom is easily accessible from the sauna but also gives direct access to the outside for the hot tub (who wants to have drippy guests trudging through the house?).
The first floor has all the 'fun stuff' - a games/rec room with a number of entertainment activities, and direct access to the 'party deck' with an outdoor kitchen and hot tub, plus lounge options. It also has the kids' rooms, and a guest room for their friends. This floor has a second entry as well.
The second floor is for formal entertaining and more elegant furnishings - open living and dining, a kitchen with a bar island, and powder room. This floor also has a morning room for more intimate family breakfasts, and a small study. There is a window over the kitchen sink that overlooks the breakfast table.
This floor has a large deck to enjoy the views, with a fire pit and telescope.
The 3rd and final floor has the master suite, with a work-out area, bed area, private living area, and large bath with walk-in shower, soaking tub, and separate toilet room.
The pond has a waterfall, and freezes in winter to allow for ice skating (small but doable).
All around are beautiful mountain views.

I love all the chalets, finished and in process! Wishing I had managed to build one, but I've still been too busy with other projects and didn't even get one started. I did make one at the end of the year, though, as a gift in the last gift exchange. If anyone is planning to make a community of the chalets, it might be of interest and is in my studio. Actually, maybe I'll go redo Hidden Springs in all your chalets . . .
@seaben Did you mean for those to both be the same link or was that an 'oops'?
@seaben, giving you a 3 day extension to get the Media link straight. It should be a link to the pictures of your house, since that is how your work is judged. You have until midnight 3/4. I can't wait to see what you have done! Thanks!
**TS3* Build-n-Share Challenge #223 *A Chalet Getaway **Due February 29, 2020** is now closed. Thanks to all who entered! Posting the next challenge immediately!
In the showdown, you have a foundation and 3 items. Please place the lot at 100 Redwood Pkwy in Sunset Valley (it is all the way to the right along the coast with the water at the bottom of the screen), in any direction that will fit. Choose ONE of the three items to include in your build WITH THE COLORS GIVEN. Sell back the other items. You may not add anything to increase the size of the foundation given, except if adding stairs makes you add a space. You can build only on the foundation given. You can put walls of any kind and fences any where you wish on the foundation. Your design should reflect the item you chose and its given colors. You can not change the colors.
Rules:
*NO changes to the foundation size or shape, except if adding stairs automatically adds a space.
*Pick only one object for your inspiration. Include your selected item in the build.
*No basements.
*You can build in the yard as long as it is not attached to the house. Any required rooms cannot be off of the foundation.
*You can use any fences, walls, windows, and doors that you wish. You can designate any space on the foundation as a porch or room (so indoor or outdoor space).
*The lot must be fully landscaped.
The Brief:
*the budget is $105,384, which includes the lot as is.
*the house should have:
*at least 3 separate bedrooms/sleeping spaces
*at least 2 and a 1/2 bathrooms.
*a kitchen and place to eat.
*a study, living room, and media area--in any combination or all separate.
*laundry, either on or off the foundation.
*any other rooms or areas you wish to include.
*the build can be as many floors as you want up but no basements.
*Please include a picture of the ground floor from overhead with the grid on so that we can verify no changes were made to the foundation.
*A spring theme is recommended but not demanded.
Due to the nature of the build, there is not a Sims challenge this month.
@iampes23
Questions:
Can we build cantilevered floors/porches/decks that overhang the foundation so long as the foundation itself is not modified or does our entire footprint need to not extend beyond the given foundation (stair not withstanding)?
Can we put a basement inside the given foundation so long as we don't enlarge/change the exterior footprint and we don't use the basement tool?
Ooh one more - can we change the height of the foundation?
@seaben The way the judging works on BuildnShare is that you take screenshots of your build and rooms and really try to present what you feel are the best looks and angles. The build itself is not downloaded and evaluated, just your pictures and description. That eliminates the need for judges to have every single item ever or to attempt to reproduce a custom-placed lot to ensure everything shows as you intended it. But looks like Iampes is willing to give you a few days to do that if you like
This post goes into more detail about the screenshots and how to best present them, if you need some guidance on that.
