    Canvas: Finale Scores Posted!!!!! Page 52

    What is Canvas? Canvas is going to be a different type of Sims competition. It's not going to be focused on "modeling" but the art that you create. Unless stated otherwise in the assignment, you're not going to be counted off for your sims' face not being in the shot. Assignments will be related to common themes in art and different art styles.
    Scores will be done by myself and one guest judge each round.
    Editing will be allowed, but here are some rules/things to consider:

    -Hair drawing is fine, but it better look good!
    -No pasting faces onto a different body or that kind of nonsense.
    -If done right and in a creative way, I'm not opposed to a sim being cut and pasted onto another background. However I do not want to see a sim simply cut and pasted onto an existing piece of art. For example if I see your sim just pasted onto a known famous work of art... that's not going to fly. You're supposed to be creating the art here!
    -I'm going to be way stricter with extensions/due dates with this than I was with hitched. I'm sorry, but I plan due dates around when I can judge/tally scores/post results. I want this comp to move at a pretty decent rate so I'm going to say 48 hour max extensions. I sometimes will give a little over a week for the assignment anyway.
    -Since this comp is different and not modeling focused, I could care less if you keep the same sim in your pic every round. Sometimes it's convenient to do that, but it's not necessary.

    Scorecard for assignments unless otherwise stated:[/size]

    Creativity 30 pts
    Relevance to assignment 30 pts
    Quality/composition 30 pts
    Total possible from each judge 90 pts

    Description of each Category:

    Creativity: I think that this is pretty self explanatory. Did your assignment seem inspired? Did you strive to have an idea that went above and beyond? Or did you basically throw a pic together that was just enough to meet assignment requirements? This is where you'll take a serious hit for pasting your sim onto a Picasso painting. This also includes what you've done with the setting, etc.

    Relevance to assignment: Did you meet assignment requirements? Did you do your research? Did you "get" what I was asking for? PLEASE NOTE: I am more than willing to answer any questions, and if you want to run your idea by me and make sure it meets assignment requirements before turning in, I'm more than happy to give you my email.. or you can PM me on cloudTen or C-styles.... multiple ways to get in contact with me! It will not be cheating if everyone else also has this opportunity. Don't be afraid to ask.

    Quality/Composition: There is some obvious and some not-so-obvious to this. You comp veterans already know the basics of this. Make sure your walls are all the way up. Speech/thought bubbles are a big no-no in general, but you may see to an extent they could come in handy with certain art styles *wink*. In general though.. no. Just no. xD
    Composition... Does your picture have a focal point or is it extremely busy and distracting? Etc etc.

    -This comp is going to be a bit outside of the box on certain aspects. Is your sim not the focus of the pic? SO WHAT?! Can we not see her face? Pppsshhh who cares? If you have a gorgeous pic with good composition, that's fine! We're mainly concerned with you creating a piece of art using The Sims 3 as a base.
    -Sometimes "filters" are nice, but you have to be the judge with each one, because they can distort your image.
    -Press ctrl, shift and C to pull up your cheat menu.
    buydebug on: adds a menu in your buy mode and gives you tons of stuff that will be helpful especially in a comp like this. There are also some invisible lights, very helpful for lighting your sims' faces!
    moveobjects on: Just incredibly useful all around. I can't even begin to go over the uses for this.
    hideheadlineeffects on: gets rid of those pesky thought bubbles and plumbobs.

    Hold in alt while moveobjects is on so your object/sim won't snap to a grid!

    Press tab when in live mode to help with picture taking.
    Camera controls:
    W - forward
    S - back
    A - Left
    D - Right
    E - Tilts up
    Q - tilts down
    Shift plus A - Rolls to the left
    Shift plus D - Rolls to the right
    Z- zoom in
    X - Zoom out
    Shift and S - reset

      This will be a fantastic, unique and inspiring comp -- definitely worth joining guys!

      When you say art do you mean you will give us a theme like Still Life and we have to capture that ?
