Needing help that is easy toi understand for tech challenged blonde

Im new to the sims and have tried to download some free stuff that was given by getting the game and different free offers. What I dont understand is why it isnt showing up because it says it was installed then when I go to put up a christmas tree or try to buy the newest baby mobile it isnt there...can someone explain in english to a very tech challenged girl whats the problem? thanks

Are they listed under the installed content tab on your launcher? And, haha, you're title made me laugh
