    @Confused_clarie..

    the cheat only works for me if you will put testingcheatsenabled true first..
    then write "restrictbuildbuyinbuildings false"
    it works for me using false instead of off :)

    Try this:

    restrictbuildbuyinbuildings off

    There should be an "s" at the end of "building"

    Just a quick correction, just from my experience, you do NOT place any markers at all in your apartment, the one you want your sims to be able to live in. There must be a public marker outside your door, as with all doors, and you must make all other doors apart from the main entrance door and your apartment door into NPC doors. If you place a public marker in your apartment then the other tenants will believe they are entitled to go in there. :D

    i am so frustrated! I built my apt...i have a lobby with door and elevator. i have several rooms on the main floor for all tenants to use. I put public marker in the front lobby and all the common rooms, but my sim just stands there and stomps her feet! What do i do? I need a step by step tutorial from outside, to the door, to the lobby, to the other rooms...help!

    It sounds like your Sim is blocked from going somewhere. Is your lot uploaded or available for download somewhere? If it has no CC in it I can test it out for you :)

    No nothing is blocking her. I deleted the light and even moved the orb. Perhaps the elevator is in the way even though it is like 4 squares away...She even had trouble going from the lobby, through other doors, into a public space, she couldn't do it! I do have cc so it is not downloadable...i will try using three rooms and see what i can do. thanks for your help and if you have anymore ideas then please let me know

    I rarely work with elevators but I believe you have to place markers either in or around the elevator itself so the Sim knows whether or not they are allowed to use it. Some people build walls around the actual elevator and so if there is an area of space between the elevator and the walls I think you have to put in a hidden room marker in there but perhaps a public room marker in the actual elevator? I tend to make more of the townhouse style of apartments rather than the apartment block style.

    If you are in the early stage of construction are you able to remove the CC easily? I usually build my floor plan first and make NPC doors and public areas prior to decorating so I know I can get it working without wasting all my time decorating it in the case it won't work *lol*

    Perhaps pics might also help us solve your problem if you are able to post any? :)

    You can either upload the pics to somewhere like photobucket and then post the link or upload them to your studio and then link them :)

    I'm having a small issue. I wonder if anyone can help me. I made my apartment just fine and the "hidden" rooms are blacked out. But when I try to get a NPC to move in it only gives me the option to lock the door. Everything else works fine. I took screen shots and if anyone needs to see them I'll post.

    Thanks for putting this up. I just wish there was a way to get to it easier. I just wanted to make a really little apartment like a 20x30 lot.

    When talking about the public room marker you said "first room of your apartment" does that mean where the elevator is or your living area??

    Public room markers go in all the common areas, so hallways, lobbies, elevators, etc. The apartment you play shouldn't have any room markers.
