OK, this is a long but very useful tutorial on how to make your own apartment BUILDING, with your own apartment and NCP apartments as well. OK, first of all, enter these three cheats (without the speech marks):

"testingcheatsenabled true"

"buydebug"

"restrictbuildbuyinbuilding off"

OK, now you need to go into bridgeport and click on the lot which is called Floodgate Apartments. You need to delete everything apart from the mailbox and the actual apartment doors, which you must not delete otherwise the apartment will not work.
Now, build your apartment as you would like it, and make sure you make separate, empty apartments which NCP's will live in. Now, this is the trickiest bit.
First, click on the buy catalog and there will be a ? sign. Click on it and go to the miscellaneous button. There will be silver balls on this. Find the "Hidden Room Marker" ball The first one you would like to place would be all of the apartment rooms you don't want to live in. Place just one ball in each room. Next you need to place a "Public Room Marker" ball into the FIRST room of your apartment. Now, to make sure that NCP's can live in your apartment, press Ctrl and Shift then click on each door of the NCP's rooms, and then click "add the ability to add triggers and activated behaviors". (Make sure, that for every single home the doors that you kept are used.
Your apartment should now work, although your sim will probably be able to lock other NCP's rooms.

Another thing that might help is on ModTheSims.com

Someone uploaded a buyable mailbox and trash chute. That should make things MUCH easier :)

I have a complex situation on my hands. :?
I have two apartments above my sims apartment with an elevator stop for each floor. I have a public garden, rec room, and pool space.
    Screenshot-378.jpg

I basically observed the placements of markers on the original apartment lots. I have a public marker in the main lobby, but do I need one outside the elevator on my sims floor? I have sims trying to enter their apartment. I have their doors locked for now.

[Edit] The longer I watch, the weirder it gets. I have two paper boys who walk up to the lobby elevator door and simply disappear as well as some other sims who do the same thing.

    Hi CK213,
The problem that you have done, is that you have put the Public Room Marker in the lobby, instead of in your apartment. Hope that this helps!

    P.S. Great apartment!
