Big bunch of problems over here.

Hi..

So. To put it simply, Sims 3 doesn't work, Sims 2 doesn't work, and the EA Download Manager doesn't work :-:

Going back a bit, I haven't played Sims for quite a while now, but today I figured I'd try it again (After stumbling on a legacy that I'd read a few years ago and absolutely adored :3).. So. I tried Sims 3 - and after I misclicked on the Sims 3 Plumbob picture file, as always - I clicked the Launcher.

'Sims3Launcher has stopped working..
Windows is searching for a solution to the problem.'

Then I clicked on the file labeled 'TS3' and I got

'The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application.'

Naturally, 'OK' was the only option. Figures.

Then I wandered over to my Sims 2 folders to see if I could get them working.

Click click. Nothing happens.
Click click again. Nothing happens.

~Oh, this just in - 'The Sims 2 is not installed on this system, or some required files have been deleted. This expansion pack requires The Sims 2 in order to run. Please install Sims 2 before attempting to run this application.'
Oh. I'm guessing I should install TS2 again then? Well, I'll try that in the morning. Let's leave TS2 alone for now.~

Anyway. That didn't happen before, so I headed over the the EA Download Manager, because I wanted to see how I should go about reinstalling the games, since I have half of them bought via the EA DM, and half on hard copy.. Nuisance.

Then I got a message about not having QtCore4.dll, so I headed over to Google, and typed it in. I read a bunch of stuff, and in the end I downloaded it, and put it in both the System32 file, and the EADM file.

Now I get this message - 'The procedure entry point
?lastIndexOf@Qstring@@QBEMABVQLLatin1String@@HW4CaseSensitivity@Qt@@Z. Could not be located in the dynamic link library QTCore4.dll.'

To be honest, I'm quite at a loss now. I've tried re-installing EADM a couple of times, but it doesn't seem to have done anything.

I'm a really really big noob at all of this computer-ish-download-and-repair-and-unzip-and-watchamacallit stuff. I get through basic stuff, but it's really quite confusing to be honest. One of the few things I know about my computer is that it's Windows 7..

Anyway. I need help D: I'm getting a figurative headache from all of this - and my back's hurting from sitting here

Anyone? Any ideas? Anyone at all?

try this it worked for me and I couldnt play game and glitches everywhere, error logs, launcher problems.

I might have a solution to your game problems
I tried this and it worked. It took all day to put this together and do.
I have been reading in the forums about all the trouble that people have
been having with the updates and custom content. I seen a problem about
install problems after unistall. Crashing after update, launcher reading
0.0.00.00. Ive been working really hard on trying diffrent things to see
what the problem is and how to play your game with patches, custom content,
and how not to get rid of all those error and log reports. Im going to go
step by step on what I do for a lot of people that have never dealt with
folders and computers that much. So those who are computer literate you'll
know what Im talking about and hopefully wont get bord with all the details.

I have done this whole process to restore my game to working order. As I did
every step I wrote it down so if I found any solution to any problem that other
players were having I could help them. Its frustrating when you cant get your
game to work properley. I just hope this works for all the people that are having
all kinds of issues with there games. My loader now runs great, I can download
things and upload things. It works better than when I first downloaded ambitions.
I hope this helps, sorry that its so long, wanted to list all progress and steps
I did and how the game and gameplay responded. So good luck everyone.

Please do it like its written if you skip any order or steps it might not work.
I made and pasted a copy of these folders to your desktop in folder located in
my documents in the Electronic Arts Folder/Sims 3. You Will find these folders
here. First you need to click on the folders listed individually by right clicking
on them and then right click on your desktop or where you want to put them. Once
you have done that I would recommend that you make a copy somewhere on a usb stick
or a disk or if thats not avalible put them all in a folder on your desktop. Here
    are the folder.

simsdownload, downloads, saves, screenshots, recorded Videos, Installed worlds,
Exports, Custom Music, currentgame, any folder that you have iformation on your game.
Now go to my computer/ c drive/ Program Files/ Electronic Arts/ copy and paste any
mods you may have that way you wont loose those. and just to be careful make a copy
of your downloads folder and rename it so it dosnt mix with your download copy thats
in your documents that you should have already copyed. Later when you put them back
into your game place it in the electronic arts/ sims3 / program files/ c drive and
just rename it back to downloads by right clicking on the file and clicking on rename.

Now your ready to start unistalling your games and packs. Make sure to unistall
eadownload manager and patern maker, and worlds. Once you have done all this go
into my documents and manually delet by right clicking on the folder or draging it
to the recycling bin. You may still have folders listed electronics are and eadm.
there empty but could keep you from installing your game or cause those crashes.
Also make a copy of your programs that you used for the sims for checking your
content to be placed in the folder that you create for your files you latter will
restore. Now go into your my couputer/ c drive/ programs and see if you have eadm or
electronics arts folder if so delet them to. now empty your recycling bin. Now go to
your start menu and go to the search bar at the bottom and type in update or sims3.
best to do both and it will bring those updates up. Make sure to read the file
carefully it will state the update number usually. right click on them and select
file location, it will bring that file up and all you have to do is right click on
them and delet them. You may want to after deleting all of them do it one more time
that way you know you got them off.

Now you can start the install process. Finally. So much work for a game, but worth it
if it makes the game work and I can play. Install them in the order that they come in.
When it asks you if you want to install eadm go ahead and download that as well. If it
asks you to update on your own select no. Once you have got the base game installed
click on icon on your desktop. When the launcher comes up go to updates and uncheck your
automatic updates. Now try to play the base game only.

So far no launchers problems. Played the game and it loaded fine. Played it for a while
and no crashes so far. Now install World Adventures. It will make you update your game
to 2.0.86.002001 Just the game no content yet. I Made a test sim to see what she will do
and still no launcher problems and game runs fine. Graphics look good. And it saved. It
loaded fine and didnt take to long. So far clear and running good, no crashes.

Now install High-End-Loft stuff pack. It will make you update so to install the game we
have to let it update. Now the launcher opened fine and its updated to the version
3.0.38.004001. Played the game no issues so far. Edited town, traveled, saved, went into
Creat a sim in change apperance. No glitches yet.

Now heres where it gets tricky, this seems to be where everyone started having problems.
With the exspanshion pack Ambitions and updating their game and eadm. electronic arts
    download manager for short.

No mods or custom content added yet or what was moved to folders yet.

Now install your Ambitions, duing installation it will update your game and it was successful
so far, ambitions is now installing. Now your loader should read 4.0.87.006001.
loader came up fine not problem. reads update version. It will ask you if you want to
    update in the launcher.

    Dont yet.

The game loads fine and the only thing that I found it the running desease. Which can be
fixed by evicying your household and placing them back. I guess it resets them thank
goodness. game runs fine, sims and houses are the same in graphics. Had no problems
with edit town or sims. So far so good. saved and no errors.

Now we need to install the create pattern tool off of thesims3.com.
game still runs fine not conflict yet.

Now lets move on to riverview. install.
    Everything still works

Now those files that we saved earlier now were going to put them back into the
game. First lets put the file called downloads that go in your my documents/
electronic arts/ the sims 3 back. drag and drop it into the sims 3 folder
and make sure you dont let it go into a file or it wont replace your empty
downloads folder. It will ask you if you want to merge these. Select yes.
Now do this with all the folders that you saved.

I havent updated to the new or latest update for eadm or the optional last
update Ill let them find fixes and better updates before I mess the game up
again. Also I do Have several mods in my game and they dont conflict or have
any problems. Here are a few on my list.

    no zzz's
    no routefailanimation
    nevercough
    no birthdaynoise makers
    no ideal faces
    slower food spoil
    no mosaic
    body slide
    stereonoeffect
    no foot tap
    custom naughty skins
    default eyes
    lots of custom hair

no clothes because I dont trust them because they gave me nude bodys
and deformed babys and toddlers. So download them at your own risk
but do check all you houses and sims that you download with the
sims3package off of modthesims.com where i got most of my content.
You can check your downloads before you put them in your game. Just
download them to your desktop open them with the program and you can
veiw all content. so you dont end up with the doll and naked sims or
    currupt content.

I hope this works for all of you that are having problems with your games.
If not Im sorry I couldnt help. I tried really hard to find a fix to a
lot of game problems because I know how frustration it is to have issues
and theres just no way to play your game and no answer. Good luck to all
those simers. If this solves your problem let others know that way they
    can enjoy their games again.

Please dont take credit for this. I worked really hard on this. good luck.

To get EA download manager working again you need to uninstall it from windows and download the latest version from ea.com. Once it's installed it may take a little while to get updates for programs related to ea download manager (Adobe AIR, etc). TS3 seems to get corrupt if not played for awhile. As TS3 seems to be tightly linked to the operating system updates to both the os AND TS3 seems to break the TS3 install. One solution would be to uninstall TS3 with a program like REVO, then use a program like ccleaner to check and fix the registry. (my easy way for manual uninstall of TS3). Then install and patch and TS3 should be ok.
I do not work for EA nor do I have any association with EA. I am a gamer helping other gamers.
