Downloaded Content Not Working Since I Installed New EP and Stuff Pack

most of the stuff i got off the exchange seems to be working find, but i had to get a few downloads (the package files) from other locations to get some of them to work correctly, now they dont seem to be working.
i tried searching around for this to see if someone else is having this problem, but the search opotion keeps coming back with no topics found, so i am sorry if this is posted else where and discussed already.
i moved all my costum stuff to the newest game folder for downloads (out of the main folder and into the high end loft stuff) but nothing seems to work except for the items that already had all the CC built in.
any advice? this is really bugging me and i didnt have issues like this with sims 2.
