I love this world. The only weird thing is that when I turn on the story progression my families get split up and moved around and also moved in with other families. I also have had several babies that have died... at least I'm assuming they did, because they are not with any of the families and their picture is greyed out... guess that's what it was really like when there were no hospitals to take care of Sims, LOL. Thank you for sharing your world with us.
Thanks for your comments :-) This weekend the final version will be up, hopefully today, Saturday. Haha @ the babies and missing hospital, sounds real sad, but if it's caused by no hospital, I think it's cool in an old fashioned way. I have seen though (in other test worlds) that sims leave their baby alone at home while going elsewhere, and no social worker (or grim reaper) appeares. I have no idea why there is no babysitter popup, maybe it has to do with the traits of the parent? Absent minded, lol?
I also remember once I tested Mr Cabb in one of the small homes at Shaddow Valley, one day the game had moved in a family of 7  to live with him. He had lots of money, I assume the game concidered cash balance before house size.
Hurraaah - Aspen Bay is now uploaded in its final version! Link to download in the top post :-)
Please see the top post also for details on what was added compared to the beta version. I think the most obvious thing was the distant background which makes Aspen Bay look even more a small community far away from the stress of SimCity ;-)
Enjoy, and keep posting any feedback, especially if you find mistakes that I should avoid in my next world.
I have to say it's a beautiful world, there are some issues I have found with pathways, too many sims are getting stuck in the flow, apart from that it's awesome. Could you possibly make a few larger empty lots maybe a 64 x 64, I have a beautiful old castle that I want to put in the world, that would fit nicely. Maybe high up on the mountain.
Missaaliyah812: Hi, and thanks. I agree that it can sometimes be annoying when your sim(s) meet a bunch of sims on the sidewalk, I make my sim(s) step aside until those others have passed, it saves lots of time. But I have mostly been playing the Maccoroc family, and they mostly stay up on the cliffs, so the sidewalk queue hasn't been a problem. But then I don't have more than the 6 premade households + a couple generated by the game.
Your request for a larger lot comes too late as I'm on a new project. Adding a lot wih sidewalks etc would actually take some time in a world that isn't flat. How about bulldozing the Aurbelle house, it's a pretty large and flat lot.
Okay, I logged in to share a picture from Aspen Bay. Just before the final version was released, a distant background was added. I think this picture is pretty nice, but at the same time I see the background makes Aspen Bay very different from how it started. I wonder what others think about the distant background. Is it okay, or would you rather preferred it wasn't there?
I'll have a look at that house that you suggest. Apart from that, there is a park that is up on the cliffs, that I am not so keen on, it's big from what I can see, and would lend well to putting in a new house, I could easily change a house into a park similar to that one. And the amenities on that park are in other ones as well.
I like the distant background in the picture.
I am going to be cheeky, and wonder if you are thinking of releasing CAW files, so I could add a couple of the lots, actually there is a nice spot quite far from the town area, with 1 lot, I would like to make that bigger maybe.
Hi Simmerville. This is still by far my favorite of all the worlds created so far. I took a bunch of my Alien Vs Sims families over to it. That's how much I love it!
mrslokiee: I'm glad you like it and that you have fun bring on those aliens. Not so sure the Maccorocs and Aurbeles appreciate those new neighbours, but hey how, why ask them at all, lol.
Missaaliyah812: I'm sorry, some version of the CAW files exist, but on a back up I store away from home and it will be too much fuzz sending you those files. I think rebuilding the Maccoroc garden / park would be a good idea, it's a steep lot so it might be hard placing a premade house there, but it would be a good challenhe to build your own.
Others: I might upload a couple more houses I built for the bay lots. 1 of them comes with a family. Will try to upload them this weekend.
I downloaded and have been playing the world for a little while now. Only one thing annoyed me, the rest was great.
The only downside was that for somebody with a CC-free game, when I downloaded some of the households from the exchange, a couple came with loads of CC that I had to find and delete.
That was all though, and it was a pretty minor thing, and I'm really enjoying Aspen Bay so far. It's an awesome little town.
I wasn't even searching for a new world, but then I saw this thread adn the pics. Downloading right now.
From the pics, I can say that Aspen Bay looks fabulous. Great job!
JBrillant, Calimero2000 and vanilija; thank you all for your comments. Sorry I didn't see them earlier.
About cc, I think the only items are a few Riverview farm items, at least I know about those. If you install Riverview (which actually adds many great objects) it might solve most of the cc issue. Good thing it wasn't such a big issue though ;-)
Just wanted to admit that lately I found myself cheating when playing in Aspen Bay... Yes, it takes forever to walk around the bay, although the story set up is hinting that the families on each side rarely want to interact in any way. If you would like to play this world but the long walks turn you off, you can use the "teleport me here" cheat. Simply type the "testingcheatsenabled on" cheat. Then you can just teleport to anywhere in the world. I normally walk one way and teleport my sims back home. I normally hate cheating, but when you have to then you have to
Are you aware that you cannot download this anymore? I tried both Media fire and the rapid share links to try this world again, as I had tried the beta version, but had never tried the final one - and thought I'd check it out again - but I'm getting a moved error on one of the links and the other said it was no longer availiable as it had not been updated in a long time.
So unless there is another link besides the ones listed under final version on the first page, I can't find your world any more.
Edit to add - OKay, I tricked media fire into giving up the goods, but rapid share is still showing error - moved. So if it is just under 20,000kb then I have it. I think it said 19.9 - but if that is the wrong size then I don't know.
I have since gotten over my problems with EA not including proper Aliens in Sims 3, as I did find some Sims of a different color than humans I have taken a liking too, so I thought I might like to try your sims and world again especially now that it is a final version and problems are gone.
I guess I'll find out anyway. hehehe.

Thanks for pointing out the broken link, Writin_Reg. Rapidshare's file has obviously been removed. The Mediafire file seems to work. At least I hope it works... :P
Yeah, at least for me after I reminded it the file is there. But the first time I went there it gave me the BS that it had not been updated or downloaded in a long time and maybe it was discontinued - or something along that order. So I left and came back a second time and it acted like it was trying for a moment, as I got the spill it will be just a moment for your download. Then it suddenly popped up your download is not availiable. But I knew by then it probably nearly had it as it was obviously trying to bring the file up. So I backed out and went in a third time, and this time it came right up and I downloaded it no problem. I went and got your Sims in their houses off your studio page, then loaded everything in my pc. So far so good anyway. I'll be checking it out shortly. Probably won't get much time to run it tonight other than just make sure everything is there, as I have to go back to another world I was testing and see if a few problems haven't corrected themselves. hehehe. But I just want to make sure I have everything loaded and working for your world. I've sort of finally gotten used to worlds without roads and even "fake" aliens. I learned to like both a lot more than I thought I would thanks to RFLong and her little Mon kee Island and then she has a green avatar and a nother couple of colorful sims I also found interesting so I want to give your world another shot. Besides when I tried it the first time, it was I believe the day you put it up for testing and I believe I ran into every tiny problem it had. I was neither keen on running unschooled Sims or green sims at the time -but I've mellowed. I still like the looks of your world though and for that alone it was worth another and fairer shot. hehehe
But if for some reason that download does not work I'll come back and tell you before I go back to the world I need to work on. If you see nothing tonight from me - media fire is a good link then. I will let you know how play actually goes once I get in the world - probably tomorrow night unless I can't play the testing world because it's hiccups haven't disappeared or something.
Thanks for getting back to me.

I have been having so much fun playing with your world. I have been playing the Cabb family. It is a much simpler life with no schools, no cars, no services.
Thanks, Midsummer999 I do play Aspen Bay frequently myself. Using the teleport cheat when I need to walk far though. I like the quiet feel there, as a break from the other more townish worlds I play.
I love this world, it is so nice to have a world without cars!!! I just wish sims could cycle on side walks or just over earth because that would make it so much better quicker to get around!!!

I still haven't got round to downloading this, but I think I will tomorrow (Possibly with some of the characters). It looks awesome.
