      Yes and no: it wasn't a written recipe, but I did get to taste my grandmother's skillet cornbread. It was always a bit burnt on the bottom, but I remember it was special to her because she grew up so poor that cornbread and milk, were the entirety of their Sunday Dinner.

      So I don't have any written recipes, but I remember the taste, the grit of it, how she made it in the square old cast iron skillet.
      And though I was about 8 the last time I tasted hers (she died when I was 11) I thought of her whenever I made skillet cornbread.

      True! My enjoyment of it surpasses my skill, talent, and experience but I still enjoy it! I have potted plants on my windowsill since I live in an apartment :)
