Hello everyone! It feels like it's been a while since I've gotten a chance to finish any of the many builds I've been working on and get something uploaded. I'm terrible at starting projects and then petering out on them at the very end. Well, I've decided to finish a few of them and get them uploaded so here they are:

Arts and Crafts Bungalow
Franklin House
This build is probably one of my favorites that I've done. This lot is done in the Craftsman style (or Mission, Art Nouveau, Arts and Crafts...Whatever you prefer) and is a two-story bungalow. I've named it Franklin House because this style is reminiscent of Frank Llyod Wright, who used the Arts and Crafts ethic to create his popular architectural style. For those of you unfamiliar with the Arts and Crafts style, it is characterized by bold, square styling, use of metals, stained glass, and rougher hewn woods. The fireplace was the central aspect of an Arts and Crafts home and was treated as such. Bungalows are the traditional type Arts and Crafts homes.

I have attempted to follow this decor and design in Franlkin House as much as possible. Here are some screenshots:

This lot has been fully playtested and the only known issues is with the "bench" in the front entryway under the stairs. It is for decoration purposes only. Custom art work from the Sims Art Gallery was used. You will need the Blooms and Roads as well as Sunset for them to show up.

Lot size: 40x40
Unfurnished Price: 93,613
Furnished Price: 147,475
Playtested: Yes

See the story here Franklin House Story for more screenshots if you are intersted. There are other rooms shown in the story that I didn't include here.

Download the lot if you are interested here: Franklin House

Feedback is most definitely welcome! Please let me know what you think!

Beautiful work with both lots Bree. I love the living room in the craftsman. It's open and airy, but still comforting and inviting. U did an awesome job with the color combo in the cottage too. If I ever try to use those colors together it ends up looking like a room for a Packers fan. Rec'd

Simsprocfun: Thank you so much for the kind words! I love creating cottages...They are probably one of my favorite builds to create. That yellow and green color combination is one of my favorites right now! :D

Webby: You're such a sweetie! *laughing* I was so surprised to see you there as I don't see you over in this neck of the woods much. It's very sweet of you to come over here and check it out...That's whys I loves you so much! :D I must say, I really liked those colors and how that beach house came out, so I actually built this lot just to use those colors/patterns again!

J: *laughing* Thanks, J! I was sure that you would be twitching from that color combination...You've got the green in there, but the yellow is there as well. I wasn't sure if you would know which end was up with that combo. And Packers Fan...LOL! You're killing me...You know you would have it looking pefectly lovely when you were finished with it! :D

Thanks Peacey! It's one of mine too...I really like how that turned out. Thanks to J's hints about the camera buttons (which I, of course, was clueless about), I was able to get that shot. I'm definitely going to recreate that in some of my future builds. :D

You have been a busy Bree! Wow. They are both so gorgeous. You just have a flair for design but I knew that already. You always manage to surprise me with your color combos. I really love the yellow, green and blue/violet in the kitchen. I agree with j, if i tried that it would look like a fun house at the circus or something. The craftsman turned out so perfectly. I think the counters look fabulous. I really haven't seen one room that I can say something bad about and that is pretty amamzing! Sorry for going on and on lol. I'm sure you won't mind too much.:wink: A rec. for you and all your houses! (And tours)(And Dls)ok I'm done...

Bre these are really great!!! I love the fireplace focal point in the craftsman with the little planters up high. That is so freaking clever and also realistic looking. The colors in the Summerfield are so fresh and sunny...and I like the partition for the crib...another clever little detail that adds something extra to your builds. Going to rec them both right now. :D

Evie: Aww...You're such a sweetie! I'm so glad you like them. Thank you so much for the kind words. And hey now...I'm very familiar with your work, so I'm one hundred percent positive that if you tried those colors they would come out stunningly beautiful! You can't fool me! :D

Ruth: Thank you so much for the compliment! That fireplace was one of my favorite aspects of this build. I love planter boxes and wish that we had more plants available to make things like this. I wish we had some nice shelves with plants for in the kitchens...I've had to get very creative with things to achieve the look that I want...laughing. Thanks so much for the 'recs! :D

Bree, these are both so beautiful! The Franklin evokes such a homely feel in those shades and wood tones. I adore the double height lounge with the stone fireplace. You are so creative with furniture placement in both builds, but it looks natural, not forced.

I love the summery feel of the Cottage is it's lovely buttery yellows with accent colours - I love it! The partitioning in the nursery and the single bed looks so cozy but not claustrophobic. Delightful!

    Rec'd everything I could!

I love the colours green and purple together. I also love the orange in the bedroom; the pattern is lovely in that colour. I rec'd the story and the lot.

    A double whammy from Bree!

Awesome job on both houses. I too love that 2-story living room with that fireplace and planters! You are also always so clever with re-purposing objects so that it works in a room I would never thought of putting them in! Like a dresser with those bath cabinets as a dining room buffet, etc. I also agree I love that room with the crib partitioned off to the side!

And guess what, neither of these look Tuscan! haha!

    <3!

Thanks Anju!:D I feel like I have to get creative with what we've got because it feels like I'm using the same things over and over again, lol! I also try to stay away from Store items as much as possible since I know not everyone has them, but it's so very difficult. So what I'm left with is getting creative using base game items and still trying to make it functional and look good at the same time. I must say, it has brought out the creativity streak in me though...and I do love a good challenge! :D

LOL at the Tuscan! Yeah, no kidding, huh? That's a first for me, eh? I still believe I'm doomed to a life of Tuscan...so...very...hard...to...break...free...

Yay! I'm so glad! Thank you so much for the wonderful compliment! I have a few other cottage type builds on my page if you were looking for something along those lines and several Tuscan type builds (*laughing*...see above comments...the Tuscans and I have a thing going on together. I seem to leave a Tuscan influence on everything I do, even when I'm not doing Tuscan...I'm trying really hard to break free of the Tuscan mold... :D).

I love your siggy, btw...Woot! Good 'ol Jack! I've got that exact picture of his face on a hitch cover for my truck...A gift from my sweet hubby last Christmas!
