That is the best, I don't let people get to me anymore on these things I've had things I've disliked and loved about the sims forever, through bad updates (game breaking or otherwise), bad computers not meant for any of the games, and my "favorite"...the game being fine but user error(not checking bad mods, shame shame) and so far there is still only one way I'd really give it up completely.

When I realise both of my kids were born before the Sims. And I remember shopping in good ol' Woolworths for Sims 2 expansion packs when they were little and used to play too.

I'm with you, @elanorbreton ! Sims came out the year my last kid was born. They've all moved out now, and we're hoping to finally sell this house that's too big for two of us. My kids introduced me to the game via a friend shortly after it came out, and I've been playing ever since. And I'm so glad I got to know the community better in this last... over 9 years of this iteration. I love having Simming friends! My kids all play other games. Though for a bit of looping back in, my youngest, the Sims-aged kid, is my support team for my venture into modding with adopting All Beds Same Energy etc., especially for anything visual.
Now to set an alarm for that merch drop...

Around 21 years ago, my 11 year old daughter came home from school with a Sims 1 disc that one of her friends let her borrow for a while. The two of us sat down in front of her computer and I watched her play with utter fascination. We couldn't stop giggling the whole time....
And the rest, as they say, is history.
