Covert Vampire Cell: help me choose a world

cynciecyncie Posts: 4,128 Member
So, my game story has taken a new turn. In my story, vampires were banished by humans to Forgotten Hollow. They later were denied entry into the occult world of The Myst. I noticed they seem to be popping up in some of my worlds as randos. I’m thinking my game needs a covert sleeper cell of vampires trying to re-infiltrate the human worlds. But which one for their base? I first thought Windenburg, but that might seem too obvious. Help me choose, and tell me why you selected the world you did. My human worlds include:

I have Gothic church/cathedral, masoleum and medieval castle going up in Windenburg so I feel like choosing that one

(cathedral in old town, castle on island, masoleum in the ruins)

    +nightlife parties providing snacks

but I also have my Windenburg more like all occults thrive /fight here kind of place

I also think San Myshuno is exciting because more food in city and apartments to break in and you could have like poor vamps in spice market or elitist rich vampires in uptown or artsy vamps in art district or whatever (it also strangely sounds less like a place spellcasters or fairies or werewolves or mermaids would enjoy)

Del Sol Valley is also cool for the famous rich vamps thing and they have those get famous beds that are like coffin 2.0 for more modern vampires then again its literally called Sun Valley so it might not be ideal unless said vampires are daywalkers

and Brindleton Bay island is also maybe good spot with the pet graveyard spookiness and crossing the sea thing but then again ghosts mermaids and werewolves might like it there too

Strangerville/Chestnut Ridge be nice for western vampires and Oasis Springs has the forgotten grotto they might appreciate but yeah idk i tend to treat the desert worlds as one big Strangetown so it sounds like "aliens first" kind of place

then again if xfiles are consulted vampires are just aliens too so I guess thats not far off theme either

and selvadorada ofcourse with the jungle and temples poses a nice twist to the vampire lore too so they could absolutely hang out there although it is vacation world so hmm

conclusion: vampires should be everywhere

I'm not super excited about willow creek but i suppose there could be mansions or something they reside in there too

    Brindleton Bay
Brindleton Bay might be fun for a New England-ish, Salem's Lot kind of vibe.

    Brindleton Bay
Brindleton Bay for convenience. All the strays there make for a good source of blood for covert vampires who can't just grab a townie. The cell might even use the vet as their headquarter (the surgery machine can extract plasma packs from cats and dogs).

I voted for San Myshuno because I'm pretty sure vampires originally came with a city world in Sims 3, and I think it's a fun callback. But Brindleton Bay is often cloudy/rainy and has...alternative food sources running around...ok that sounds terrible but it's only for storyline purposes.

Where else can they really be covert than in a big city? In small sleepy towns people tend to know everything about everybody and they look at you strange if you only come out of the house at night.

Strangerville (already an alien outpost there)
A multicomplex hidden underground prison of the poor Aliens, Spellcasters, Vampires & Werewolves.

No one would suspect a vampire hanging out in a desert world with lots of sun? It's risky to you, the player, but maybe you have a vampire that is immune to the sun?

Good point. If they’re trying to infiltrate there should probably be “agents” everywhere.

    Very practical, yet atmospheric.

True. In San Myshuno, the wouldn’t have to explain why they work the night shift. And it would be a nice throwback to TS3.
Oh, man you don't have the village that first came to mind. HoB.

I do have HoB, but it’s part of The Myst, so not available. But that might be another story!

You know, in my original save I actually had a prison in Oasis Springs where aliens, Spellcasters and all of the occults I had at that time were imprisoned by humans. The aliens struck a deal and became human allies. They are not popular with the other occults!

Good idea! My game moved a few mermaids to Oasis Springs. Bold of those merfolk, I thought.

Thanks for all the great suggestions!

    Selvadorada
The large snowy lot on Mt Komorebi as their winter base. Somewhere deep underground in Tartosa for the summer. I know neither of these worlds was on your list.

If I must pick a world on your list, then it is Selvadorado.

Thanks! I do have the mod that makes Selvadorada residential, so it’s a possibility. Your other suggestions aren’t on the list because those packs aren’t in my game.

San Myshuno gives them anonymity. There’s plenty to do at night and plenty of sims around to snack on without drawing too much attention. In my head, San Myshuno is also located centrally to all the other worlds, so it would be an easy access point if they needed to go anywhere else. Political career also came with city living, so it feels like the place they’d need to be if they needed to engage in some bribery to keep hidden.

San Myshuno is my pick coz I’m thinking back to TS3 and Late Night vampires lived in Bridge Port there was a night club there that had a layer for vampires to sleep. And I’m sure you could turn an apartment building into a vampire apartments 😂 plus as everyone has said you can find lots of people to feed from without bring attention to them ☺️

random but turns out vampires can't go on mountain climb excursion (only able to select sim when not vampire) so rip to the idea of vampires living on top of Mt.Komorebi :( hopefully this is just a bug cause its all too sad to cure yourself to climb a mountain

I am beginning to like the idea of city dwellers. It makes sense. Plus, in my game, San Myshuno is a sort of neutral zone between the human world and the occult world. Vampires would have some influence over both worlds by centering their operations there.

I do like the TS3 callback. My game recently emptied San Myshuno out, so I should have some flexibility in setting one apartment building aside for vampires.

I don’t have Snowy Escape so I wouldn’t know, but it seems odd that they can’t go up the mountain. Wonder why?

Okay, so today I decided to move two vampire households into San Myshuno. Since I’m mostly using premades, I moved the Maxis Noble Vampires into the penthouse in the Alto apartments and Maxis Rebellious Vampires into an apartment in the spice district.

I figure the Nobles are just trying to live the good life. Or death. Or whatever. And aren’t particularly aggressive, although they do what they have to to survive. The Rebels are definitely predatory. I then plan to seed the other worlds with a mix of predator vampires and some adherents to the nonviolent movement of the Vatores. Thanks for all of suggestions! Basically, I’m taking all of them!

The biggest hurdle today was protecting those vampires in the penthouse from the sun. That’s a lot of glass, up there! I wound up using the theater curtains from School Days to give them heavy drapes that weren’t all Victorian looking. I mean, when you’re trying to stay under the radar, you don’t want your decor to scream “bloodsucking vampires live here!”
