Let's kick off the third page of this thread! So then, I have stopped doing smaller lot showcases. That means that I can do some bigger lot showcases. And oh boy I have a lot here.
I thought about sharing some completed projects, but these are not truly complete before being changed into Residential Rental lots and having necessary items added. So only the projects I haven't shared here before will be shared here.
Let's begin somewhere then...
I never thought I'd be building such a building in Evergreen Harbor, but one neighborhood is missing an apartment after all. So here, I made an industrial apartment, layout inspired by Pinecrest Apartments (the one in Conifer Station). In the end, it fits a lot of sims there.
Unit amount: 10
Extra: Utility room and grafiti spots, I guess. No laundry room this time!
While in build mode it removed every changing decoration, here's how it looks like with the default neighborhood state:
Copperdale needs an apartment building, yet there are not a lot of lots to use. The unoccupied lots are small, one I have made into a recreation center, one stays a starter home, and the empty lot... It just doesn't connect to roads, so I have no ideas on how to build an apartment there. So I made it there. The goal is to house a family with at least 1 teen. Maybe even two, perhaps even 4 if you're daring enough. Also added platforms for escape windows, in case that the sneak out stuff requires it.
Unit amount: 4
Extra: Escape windows
Chestnut Ridge, for some reason, had to have an apartment. Though now when I have started it, I'm thinking of making one in Henford-on-Bagley too... Anyway, this one is a rowhouse complex, each first floor containing a stable for a horse (or multiple if you're daring enough), second floor for sims (bedrooms, kitchen, living room, and bathroom), and a little third floor for attic space for whatever use.
Unit amount: 4
Extra: Prairie grass
Glimmerbrook finally got its own supernatural apartment! This one is almost completed even! Built for spellcasters, it even includes a room to make potions in. And a farming area to farm the ingredients in. And a spirit medium area in the lobby where to super casually contact spirits or whatever... super casually of cousrse.
Unit amount: 13
Extra: Spirit summoning, bar, laundry room, utilities, potion brewing room, gardening area, wishing well, and a nectar cellar with potion brewing.
San Sequoia got another new apartment, this time in Anchorpoint Wharf! This time I took half inspiration from trailer and half inspiration from the neighborhood decoration buildings. This resulted in two buildings in the lot: the right one being a two-story duplex, and the left being a small apartment building with café and laundromat. One of the struggles were finding the right windows for it, as those decoration buildings use that escape window, which would greatly restrict my object placement. Overall, I think I got something nice done.
Unit amount: 6
Extra: Café, boba tea, laundry, utility, and a small park.
This is one where I have to number the units.
More sims to StrangerVille! This copy of Willow Creek building got replaced with something almost looking like those decorations in the neighborhood. Included the planter boxes for strangeness and a listening device to the utility room. Planning to have a swooping landlord there!
Unit amount: 6
Extra: Grill, planter boxes, utility and spying room, StrangerVille evidence
Brindleton Bay got an interesting looking apartment building. At first, I struggled with it, but I got it into somewhat OK looking form I guess. The only problem left is the yard: what do I add there or will I turn it into a U shaped building instead to have less problems with the yard? Only time (and maybe forum feedback) will tell...
Unit amount: 6
Extra: Laundry room, utility, secret vet lab
I also told myself not to build in San Myshuno, but no, I had a sudden idea of "What if I took the penthouses and add some more floors under them". So here it is! FountainView Penthouse, but now there are three floors under it for other sims. This means more apartments to San Myshuno! Evil laughter!
Unit amount: 7
Extra: None, except it has the elevator, copied with the room tool, with stairs just in case.
One picture for the bottom three floors, but they are all the same for now!
San Myshuno builds don't stop here! Meet Torendi Tower Penthouse! This one, the original just is... too big and too full of random stuff. So let's take it and turn it into some luxury apartments with a brand new penthouse! The only questions are if every unit deserves a pool and how should I go about it (as it'll take room from the unit downstairs).
Unit amount: 5
Extra: Those elevators again, I guess.
We have arrived to Willow Creek, to which I've decided to make a rowhouse with backyards. One struggle was that the building mustn't be on fountain, as due to having to keep the yards as rooms with floors removed (to mark them into units), it causes a visual glitch where you can see through the ground when looking at fences separating neighbors. Otherwise, ideas are yet to be flowing...
Unit amount: 5
Extra: Every unit gets a backyard
In Oasis Springs however, I got an idea more easily. This apartment building can support 4 large families and up to 8 smaller families as units on the ground floor only have one floor while units above it have two floors. I also added a small recreation area to the basement floor. Basement floors are fun: if you have no idea where to put the room, just put the room there! There's always room in the basement!
Unit amount: 8
Extra: Laundry, utility, recreation area with baby-safe area
This is one where I have to number the units.
And to finish it off, Windenburg! This idea is simple: simply take those two little houses in Olde Platz and copy them, turning them into rowhouses, each with 3 units. Though to the right one, I also added a laundry room and a utility room.
This entry takes two buildings into one, and I'll share only one picture of them:
And... done for now. From the release date, I can simply finish those buildings, upload them to the Gallery, and share the link here. As... there were... a lot more pictures... to upload...
The cheat for more units is this: bb.increaserentalunitcap on/off
You can't build Residential Rentals on following lots:
Sulani waterfront lots
Penthouse lots in San Myshuno and Britechester
Vacation worlds and hidden lots.
If you add items such as water heaters in one unit, it will only have an effect on that unit. If you have one of those items in the shared space, it'll affect every unit.
So then, this means that 3 of my built ideas have been shot down.
Let's have a moment of silence for these builds:

But yeah, happy to see such info!
I've decided to count the amount of units in total from all of my lots. And yup, it exceeds the limit! Sigh, my ideas really were way too ambitious...
I guess I'll be doing internal screaming for some time.
Ok. I guess I'll keep on building. For the Gallery!
I built this container combo awhile back, (and even thought it could turn as a rental), cause it has 4 starter priced rooms/baths. Just a little fun project I played with back then.
The size might fit well on the new world's empty spaces. I might upgrade or rework/extend it when I will get the expansion, adding common areas or more units too.
Cozy container combo with using Cozy starter apartment (download link in the name) no custom content, no moveobjects, no mods
Lot size: 20x20 / Full lot price: 71.424 S / Single apartment price: 16.124 S
Comfortable container apartments for 4 single sims to start with their own life. Can turn it as a rental. The solo apartment's size is 4x9, bathroom and shower included with small wardrobe/dressing area - no holes in the wall, still one unit - you can place it anywhere as a starter, price is 16.124 Simoleons. Fully furnished and decorated interiors with nice quality objects. The 4-container apartment's outdoors left open for any skill or hobby items you wish. Enjoy if you try it out.
@EgonVM thanks for the info you have a lot of lovely builds, either way I am very much looking forward to the new pack but it still got me playing sims 2 more and as usual it makes you think. It may be good for performance at least.
Reddestiny921 on the gallery...still not sure if I capitalized the second d..lol
All the sims err'day
@imoger that is also pretty, I think last time we posted at the same time, I hope I can grab that if you're uploading when the pack comes out. @EgonVM sorry about the ones that won't work but they are still very nice.
Thought I'd take a look at the sims 3 apartments too, I did see a tutorital for making your own but it seemed a little confusing I think they are mostly regular lots in shells in that game. They are nice and work well but I am just getting real jazzed about doing mostly whatever I want.
This was a save I started but never did anything with so I think I only changed a couple things in Vlad's apartment but my new sim got a nice redecoration. I'll have to share a sims 4 one after the game comes up so i can test the ones I worked on but I can show you the pics I already used so I'm not just prepping with other games
And
Funny how different they are, I personally don't really have a preference they should all work that's good enough for me.

Ah, that's ok. I have plenty of other builds.
Great looking apartment building there.
On The Sims 3 apartments, there are two types of apartments:
Late Night's illusion apartments: Only one unit is visible at a time, no other units actually exist. All building outside the unit (unmarked area) is forbitten unless a cheat is used (RestrictBuildBuyinBuildings off). Using callbox or doors, you can only visit the main household, while the other sims will just come out to meet your sim. To build these, you need to enable testingcheats and buydebug, then you need to place down Hidden Room Markers for rooms that won't be visible (other units) and Public Room Markers for shared areas. When (in build mode) you hold down control and shift button and click on a door between a Hidden Room and a Public Room, you can mark it as a NPC door, allowing you to summon a townie from there (this cannot be done on any community lot).
University Life's apartment lot type: this one simply is a lot acting like a dorm in your home world, though there your sim has to pay rent. These cannot be built in Bridgeport, but can be combined with the former illusion apartments.
Though mainly, The Sims 3 apartments don't allow multiple households to live on one lot. It's an open world game after all and switching households is an afterthought there.

Indeed. Once you get good with knowing the limitations and have built some, you'll get a hang of it and can easily build some. For example, here's some of my builds:
This one I won't load and show in the neighborhood view. There are way too many objects that should I load it and go to the top floor, my poor game actually crashes.
Though no matter how much more units you place, only up to 4 families can live on one apartment lot. It seems like The Sims 4 allows more, but it also has that 99 unit limit... Eh, I'll get a mod for it.
@EgonVM thanks, I like them more than I thought I would .
That is a clearer explanation than what I found, but so much to consider for me, I liked building fake resorts but never thought about apartments so a lot. Yes I suppose not much reason to switch, I like to rotate from time to time depending on what I'm doing, or because I noticed the game likes to make my played households pet adoption places which is a no.
I really like your ts2 apartments too, I was just thinking I need more space, now I know better. I don't know if I'll ever need up to the limit but guess we'll see who stretches that limit anyways. I bet it'll be good for set dressing for machinima adding all those apartments to keep people on hand who knows.

Made a 6 unit apartment there: 4 for small households and 2 for a little larger households. Also included a garden with a grilling area, laundry room (with an ability to do laundry with wash bin and cloth line), lounger balcony, and of course a utility room.
Edit. And yes, I have tested the bathroom layout. Even went extra mile to see if toddlers and infants can be bathed in second floor units. They are all usable fortunately!
So, about the other buildings, especially those with a lot of units.
I'm planning to make and upload these in two versions: The L version that goes with my plan and the M version where I take some units off. While some are difficult to plan (Moonwood Mill for example), I think I can shave some units off the dreaded limit.
Ok. I have finished up the buildings I've finished and uploaded them to the Gallery. I'll share the links here. I'll update the post as I finish more. Some of them have multiple versions, with more or less units.
In the Gallery, those buildings that have an alternative version available have this hashtag: #AlternativeAvailable
Unit amount from all of them in total: 106-135

Thanks to EmmaVane's Q&A, here are the sizes of everything:
So, I misjudged the large multiunit mailbox size. Please remove 1 wall mailbox/large mailbox or 2 half-sized mailboxes.
Now you can go ahead and finish up the Residential Rental buildings by adding the additional objects and assigning units.
After you upload these to the Gallery, do share the link to your creation here!
